Ball-joint failure in the front sway bar / swaybar link on the E36 M3, M Roadster and M Coupe is something that can't be avoided. But Meyle's HD sway bar links feature a metal ball joint that will hold up longer than the factory replacements and come with a four year warranty.
How do you know if the link has gone bad? From inside the car you will hear a clunking noise when going over bumps. The clunk is a sure sign a ball joint (control arm, tie rod, swaybar link) has failed. Diagnosis with a set of channel-lock pliers will reveal a large amount of play in the ball joint itself.

Simply measure for your ideal link length, and order the links with the best length range (below). Each sway bar link has a 10mm diameter mounting pin/stud, which is the typical factory/stock size for a universal fitment. These are sold by the pair, and each set includes two matching sway bar end links.
These end links offer the quiet operation and long life of "stock" BMW end links, but with the strength and adjustability of rod-end style sway bar links. These sway bar links can be used on a wide variety of BMWs and aftermarket BMW suspensions. When measuring, please consider that the length ranges of our Custom Adjustable end links are measured from the center to center on the end link mounting stud / pin, as shown in our diagram.
Note for E9X M3: the unique mounting on the M3 strut requires a set of our adapter seats (#TSU9912AF9). You can add them with your links from the menu below.

Your factory end link brackets are a one piece design with an integrated stud made of flimsy metal with no coating to protect from the elements. What happens is the end link hardware rusts right to the integrated stud and when you go to remove/replace the end links or brackets they are one strong turn and a snap away from needing to be replaced.
Not only did ECS come up with a stronger solution with a superior resistance to corrosion but went the extra mile to incorporate hardware that can be replaced time and time again so you will never need to replace the brackets themselves. The end link brackets feature chamfers to fit perfectly in factory location and make for a straight forward install. The brackets featuring a slotted area for the bolt head to sit so you don't have the headache of having to get a wrench in the tight space behind the bracket while installing them.

From years of racing the E36 in World Challenge we have discovered the E36 favors a larger front bar without over doing the size of the rear. This is the best combination we could find to reduce body roll while making handling as neutral as possible. These are the latest generation of our popular Turner E36 swaybars, now with CNC machined ends, two adjustment positions on each bar, re-countoured bends for better clearance, and one of the largest front solid sway bars available (30mm). We couldn't find a large front sway bar that we liked so we made our own - perfect for taming that understeer! These sway bars fit all 1992-1999 BMW E36 chassis, including the E36 M3, 325i, 325is, 328i, 328is, 323is, 318i and 318is (sorry, no ti). If you have a clunking sound in the front end, the front swaybar end-link is one of the items to check. The standard plastic ball joint inside the boot will wear or crack, allowing excess motion. This is a Meyle HD part with metal ball joints that will last longer than the standard design. These adjustable rear links are only required when using sway bar / swaybars with a suspension with a very low ride height, where it may be necessary to adjust the length of the end links for proper sway bar clearance from the drive axles or other suspension components. These suspensions are usually found only on race cars but this may also apply to street cars with sport springs/sport coil overs that are lowered a lot. On most street cars lowered 1.5" or less, the stock links will be fine.
These end links feature a Heim joint, which allows enough lateral movement when disconnected to adjust the length of the link without removing the entire link from the car. This is particularly helpful when eliminating or adjusting preload while tuning the suspension. Similar links without this joint, can't be adjusted without totally removing the link from the car.
Built-in grease fittings allow for occasional lube, and a packet of grease is included. These links are sold as a set, and include two end links and hardware for H&R and TMS sway bars (other brands may not need the hardware).
At their shortest setting they are 2.875" hole to hole and on their longest setting they are 3.5" hole to hole.
*Note: these links will not work with factory or non-adjustable Eibach sway bars.

3 way adjustable 30mm front sway bar / swaybar for E46 M3. Includes bushings.
Sway bars are typically sold as a front and rear set to balance the handling. But a front sway bar only can also have excellent benefits, especially on a street car. Going with a larger front bar will improve steering and handling even at low-moderate speeds. Steering turn-in is faster and gives the car a more direct and responsive feel. Cars with staggered wheel fitments (a narrower front wheel compared to the rear) will especially benefit from this and help the front tire 'bite' into the road.
We use an adjustable 30mm sway bar that has been fine-tuned for use on the E46 M3. Urethane bushings with a reinforced inner core that requires no lubrication are included. These bars are crafted from a special spring steel that is both stronger and more resilient than competitive sway bars. They have been shot peened and heat treated, and feature precision forged ends.

With the wide range of suspensions and sway bars available today adjustable sway bar links can help you with many problems. Along with the ability to remove preload you can change the length to maximize sway bar geometry. Example: if the sway bar hoop comes too close to the steering rack, oil cooler, or under tray in its suspension travel you can adjust it by simply lengthening or shorting the adjustment rod. In some cases you may need a longer or shorter adjustment rod to achieve optimal geometry. We also offer these same links in other custom lengths (click here) that may not be specific to BMW chassis.
