At Turner, all our Carbon Fiber Intake Systems are top-of-the-line custom-engineered products that we develop in house. Our G8x Intake is no exception. Turner Carbon Fiber Intakes start with a 3D scan of the factory intake and engine bay. Our engineers use these 3D images of the chassis to design the intake in SolidWorks modeling software. Using a Flow Bench, our Intake is then airflow tested against the factory intake, to ensure optimal airflow improvement against stock. The final product is a beautiful and functional Carbon Fiber Intake, CAD designed for perfect integration with the OEM inlet ducting and stock mounting locations and proven to flow better than factory.

Our G8x carbon fiber airbox sport entirely carbon fiber construction, with a removable carbon fiber lid for easy air filter access. Our enclosed carbon fiber intake systems are also proven to lower intake temps vs. open filter intakes. Plus, they further enhance the appearance of the engine bay, by adding more beautiful carbon fiber. The carbon airbox and lid is manufactured using 2X2 twill weave carbon fiber and protected with a gloss finish clear coat for UV resistance. The Best part? The airbox mount in the stock location with all supplied hardware included.

The oval intake tube design matches the OE look, allowing the intake to be used with the factory structural brackets that the intake goes through. However, the cross-sectional area of the Turner Carbon Fiber intake tube is greater than the stock intake tube, with a smooth interior for even better flow. The carbon intake tube is manufactured using 2X2 twill weave carbon fiber, and the intake tube is protected by a gloss finish clear coat for UV protection.

With the oval design of the intake tube, the custom air filter had to be designed for this intake system. The air filter is specially designed to seal against the carbon fiber airbox, eliminating any opening for hot air to enter the airbox! We created a conical hi-flow reusable air filter; featuring 8 ply oiled cotton gauze construction to maximize filtration efficiency. This filter features a Bellmouth (velocity stack) filter flange inlet to reduce turbulence in order to maximize flow.

Overall, the less restrictive intake design allows for more flow to the engine. The Drivers side Stock intake flows 336.2 CFM @ -15 inH20. The Drivers side Turner intake flows 374.3 CFM @ -15 inH20. This is about a 12% increase over stock The Passenger side stock intake flows 274.2 CFM @ -15 inH20.The Passenger side Turner intake flows 296.3 CFM @ -15 inH20. This is about an 8% increase over stock. Flows over 10% more air than factory intake system!

Full carbon fiber intake to increase flow, performance and aesthetics! Dual inlet design for maximized air flow while retaining the OEM+ fitment.

The most common N55 intake utilizes a short plastic tube and oversized cone filter; it is your job to have better taste than the common N55 owner. This carbon intake changes the whole image of the N55 engine while maintaining a flow of cool air and added induction noise. With a dual inlet design the engine bay retains its functionality while adding a second inlet to provide your engine with improved air flow and sound. To ensure the engine gets the coolest air possible the second inlet is located in the "sweet spot" on the cold side of the engine for the lowest intake air temps and most air flow possible. The cone filter features a bellmouth velocity stack filter that creates the satisfying flutter after letting of the throttle.

Because we can be more aggressive in our tuning, we can get a lot of horsepower for very little money.

Both of these items are packaged and work together. They provide a solid performance boost with a low upfront cost. For an excellent 'bang for the buck' upgrade, the software and intake are a great choice (TMS Underdrive Pulleys would also be on that list).

Related Upgrades: We are often asked what would complement our software and intake packages. Within any Stage, we recommend our Underdrive Power Pulley Kits and a cat-back exhaust. The M5 is the flagship of the marque and as such deserves to showcase the best possible components. The Dinan Carbon Fiber Cold Air intake for the latest generation of M5 holds true to that philosophy and offers arguably the best performing and most efficient sealed intake solution on the market. Quite possibly the most visually impressive as well. The first thing noticed upon gazing upon the engine bay equipped with the Dinan intake is the sheer amount of gloss UV coated 2x2 carbon fiber. Stretching from one end of the engine compartment to the other, courtesy of a fully functional secondary air inlet wishbone, the material is not only beautiful to look at but serves the purpose of heat deflection as well. The wishbone, which mimics the equally impressive calling card of the F8x M3/M4 engine compartment, is purposeful in a different way. Instead of adding structural integrity, the wishbone serves as the conduit for a secondary air source deriving its contents from a central hood scoop located behind the front grilles. The additional air flow supplements the factory inlet locations on both the left and right air boxes with ambient air from outside of the engine compartment. These air boxes have been enlarged and equipped with massive filters to handle this increased volume and together with the rest of the system allow the intake to flow as efficiently as possible. While the stock intake system is adequately suited to support up to stage 1 power levels, that does not mean there is no performance benefit when upgrading to the Dinan system. Besides its amazing appearance, the biggest advantage of the system, by virtue of additional and optimized flow, is the reduction of the pressure depression in the stock system. This equates to the turbo having to work less in order to achieve targeted power. With the turbo working more efficiently this also means lower pre-turbine backpressure, lower turbocharger shaft speeds, lower turbocharger compressor discharge temperatures, and the ability to achieve higher boost pressure levels. Coupled with the optional Dinan Turbo Inlets these effects are even more exacerbated and represent ideal optimum flow and efficiency. Paired with the natural improvement to throttle response, a minor bump to the acoustics, and a visual appeal that will leave anyone speechless the Dinan F90 M5 carbon fiber intake system is a perfect complement to the "best." BMW has a knack for maintaining its stake as the benchmark when it comes to performance luxury vehicles, with the F8X generation being no exception. The S55 that powers the 2015–2020 BMW F8X M3, M4, and M2 Competition is dripping with technology, which includes an air-to-water intercooling system as a means of keeping cool. Where BMW’s intercooling system design was enough to help bring this generation of mid-sized M’s to their peak, we here at Mishimoto found some weaknesses that we felt obliged to address, with a power bundle consisting of our full Performance Intercooler Product suite. The Mishimoto 2015–2020 BMW F8X M3/M4 Performance Intercooler Power Pack counters the weaknesses in BMW’s design, starting with the charge pipes. Cracking under pressure or splitting at the seams are common problems with factory plastic charge pipes. These can result in less than ideal situations as you pilot your M3 or M4. We created a brand-new design for the charge pipes that inspire more confidence in handling the boost pressure. Our design features a full aluminum construction with a cast midsection designed specifically to squeeze past the intake. Our charge pipe kit also includes a pair of matte black silicone couplers for a sleek and secure connection to the intercooler. The nondescript silver box is out, and the stylish new Mishimoto Performance Air-to-Water Intercooler is in. With a new look, our design fits perfectly in the M3 and M4’s engine bay, both in terms of installation and aesthetics. The beauty is more than just skin deep. Our improved core design features a bar-and-plate core with a 29% increase in core volume, as well as a unique single-pass coolant flow layout for optimal heat transfer. Combined with our 16% increase in flow through the core, we were able to record a 12°F temperature drop in intake air temperatures while testing our full Power Pack. An air-to-water intercooling system wouldn’t be complete without the heat exchanger. When it came to BMW’s design, it was a solid foundation, but we still saw room to grow, literally. Our full aluminum design added 6” to the height of the core, equating in a 180% increase in external fin surface area and a 60% increase in core volume. With our heat exchanger in the S55’s system, we recorded a 10°F drop in global intercooler coolant temperatures and an average gain of 11 whp and 8 wtq when the full Mishimoto 2015–2020 BMW F8X Performance Intercooler Power Pack was tested on our Stage 1 tuned M3. For added security, we made sure to include our optional steel mesh stone guard with the Mishimoto Performance Heat exchanger to keep all the tubes and fins intact. We also utilized a variable fin pitch on our heat exchanger’s core for optimal cooling on DCT-equipped vehicles. Even though the F8X generation of the M3, M4, and M2 Competition was designed to pull ahead of the rest, there's still much to be desired when it comes to cooling. The aFe intake is made with heat-blocking materials, reducing underhood temperatures and not contributing to heat soak of the air filter. aFe uses an oiled cotton air filter for maximum air flow and excellent filtration. The kit is supplied complete with heat shield, intake tube, sealing materials, hardware, and install instructions.

The software is tuned by BMW tuning whiz Jim Conforti and supplied with the Shark Injector. The Shark Injector is a do-it-yourself reflash tool that plugs into the OBD diagnostic plug in your dash. With the push of a button, it will copy your stock software and reflash your computer with the performance tune. You can set it back to stock at any time by following the same procedure.

Both of these items are packaged and work together. They provide a solid performance boost with a low upfront cost. For an excellent 'bang for the buck' upgrade, the software and intake are a great choice (TMS Underdrive Pulleys would also be on that list).

Related Upgrades: We are often asked what would complement our software and intake packages. Within any Stage, we recommend our Underdrive Power Pulley Kits. The Power Pulley Kit will under-drive the alternator, water pump, and power steering pump. Under-driving means each component is moving slower which requires less power. The saved horsepower is put back to the engine where it transfers to power at the wheels. Power gains are typically 10 horsepower at the wheels.

We also recommend upgrading the cat-back muffler for slightly more performance, lighter weight, and a more-aggressive sound. Our favorite E46 mufflers are the Supersprint, Borla, or Corsa exhausts. The Supersprint is the quietest and most like stock while the Corsa is the most aggressive (Borla being in the middle). You can expect a gain of 5whp with any of these exhausts.

Our Stage 3 kit features a cold-air intake kit, cat-back exhaust, performance software, and is tuned for stock M3 cams (not included in Package, can be added below). This whole package has been precisely tuned to work together and make the most power with as little downside.

The aFe intake is made with heat-blocking materials, reducing underhood temperatures and not contributing to heat soak of the air filter. aFe uses an oiled cotton air filter for maximum air flow and excellent filtration. The kit is supplied complete with heat shield, intake tube, sealing materials, hardware, and install instructions.

We can supply this Package with either a Borla or Corsa exhaust system. Both are stainless steel cat-back sections with dual tips. The Borla is a little more mellower sound than the Corsa. The Corsa makes a deep, aggressive burble that is a bit on the loud side but not over-the-top. Both are very light weight with the Borla weighing only 28lbs.

The difference between Stage 2 and Stage 3 is that the software we supply is also tuned for the M3 camshaft upgrade. Adding the stock cams from the S50 and S52 M3 engine is a big wake-up call on the 325i motor. You can expect big power gains in the top end. The M3 cams are a perfect blend of power and driveability - you lose almost nothing in low-end torque.

Our TMS Performance Chips include specific tuning for each part of the Package. The chip is the safest and easiest way to get big power from your engine. Our chips require premium fuel (91 or higher) and allow us to alter the settings on the engine management. Because we can be more aggressive in our tuning, we can get a lot of horsepower for very little money.

Our Stage 1 kit featuring a cold-air intake kit and matching performance software. The aFe intake is a cone filter with a heat-blocking shield around it. The larger surface area of the filter, combined with the heat shield, allow more cool air to enter the engine - creating more power and torque, a richer engine sound, and better throttle response. The kit is supplied complete with heat shield, intake tube, sealing materials, hardware, and install instructions.

Our flash software is tuned especially for a cold-air intake, maximizing the potential and providing smoother power delivery. We take the stock software and make adjustments for 91 octane (stock software is set around 87). We can get more power and torque, and increase fuel efficiency without affecting driveability or the life of the engine. The throttle response is also improved (quicker) eliminating unwanted and dangerous flat spots in the pedal response.

Our software fully maximizes the 'low-output' N52B30O0 engine in the 530i. Our software has been carefully developed on the dyno and the road to provide optimal power and torque gains at all RPM. We change the fuel, Valvetronic, and VANOS maps as well as revise the factory torque limiters. We have paid particular attention to increasing low and mid-range torque. The stock BMW software is hampered by settings for 87 octane fuel. By re-mapping the engine programming for 91 octane, we can make more power, torque, and improve fuel mileage - all without harm to the engine or affecting driveability. The throttle response is also improved (quicker) eliminating unwanted and dangerous flat spots in the pedal response.

There are two ways to install our software: mailing the ECU to us for a reflash or do-it-yourself install with our Turner Flash tool:

Mail-In Reflash - lower upfront cost but additional shipping charges. Minimum downtime of at least three days. We have a 24 hour turnaround on shipping the ECU back to you but factor in transit time. Expert installation of your software at our facility.
Turner Flash DIY tool - higher upfront cost but files are emailed back and forth. No downtime - you can still drive the car while we process your tune. Files are emailed back and forth - your stock file comes to us, a tuned file is returned to you. Easy install via Windows laptop.

We also recommend upgrading the cat-back muffler for slightly more performance, lighter weight, and a more-aggressive sound. Our favorite E36 M3 mufflers are the Supersprint, Borla, or Corsa exhausts. The Supersprint is the quietest and most like stock while the Corsa is the most aggressive (Borla being in the middle). You can expect a gain of 5whp with any of these exhausts.

It's the most feature-packed programmer on the market today.

We have taken the guesswork out of choosing the best upgrades for the N54 engine. If you follow the upgrade path we have laid out you will have very satisfying and reliable results. This Stage 1 package is a great 'bang for the buck' upgrade - this power kit makes more power and torque at every RPM and makes a fantastic snarling sound every time you dip into the throttle. We can supply this Package with either a Borla or Corsa exhaust system. Both are stainless steel cat-back sections with dual tips. The Borla is a little more mellower sound than the Corsa. The Corsa makes a deep, aggressive burble that is a bit on the loud side but not over-the-top. Both are very light weight with the Borla weighing only 28lbs.

Our TMS Performance Chips include specific tuning for each part of the Package. The chip is the safest and easiest way to get big power from your engine. Our chips require premium fuel (91 or higher) and allow us to alter the settings on the engine management. Because we can be more aggressive in our tuning, we can get a lot of horsepower for very little money.

Related Upgrades: Within any Stage, we recommend our Underdrive Power Pulley Kit. The Pulley Kit will under-drive the alternator, water pump, and power steering pump. Under-driving means each component is moving slower which requires less power. The saved horsepower is put back to the engine where it transfers to power at the wheels. Power gains are typically 10 horsepower at the wheels.

Our Stage 3 kit features a cold-air intake kit, cat-back exhaust, performance software, and is tuned for stock M3 cams (not included in Package, can be added below). This whole package has been precisely tuned to work together and make the most power with as little downside.

The aFe intake is made with heat-blocking materials, reducing underhood temperatures and not contributing to heat soak of the air filter. aFe uses an oiled cotton air filter for maximum air flow and excellent filtration. The kit is supplied complete with heat shield, intake tube, sealing materials, hardware, and install instructions.

The difference between Stage 2 and Stage 3 is that the software we supply is also tuned for the M3 camshaft upgrade. Adding the stock cams from the S50 and S52 M3 engine is a big wake-up call on the 325i motor. You can expect big power gains in the top end. The M3 cams are a perfect blend of power and driveability - you lose almost nothing in low-end torque.
