This ball joint is used for the upper rear trailing arm bushing on ALL E36, E46, E83 X3, and E85 Z4 cars. BMW also used it as the lower bushing on most M cars. It makes a great upgrade on all non-M cars where BMW used a rubber bushing at the lower position.

This sealed ball joint is one of the best things about the rear suspension - it functions extremely well and lasts a long time. And it can be used as a replacement for the existing bushing without any further modification. The non-M cars used a solid rubber bushing for the lower arm (camber arm, wishbone) which does not last very long and relies on bushing deflection (twist) during suspension motions. The ball joint inside the upgraded design is much more effective during this suspension movements as it does not bind or deflect. And because it's sealed with rubber it will last a long time and remain quiet and maintenance free. Most customers report that after installing or "upgrading" to these bushings the rear end of their car felt much more stable.

Price is per bushing. Left/Right and Upper/Lower are the same part.

Our sealed Monoball Rear Trailing Arm Bushings (RTAB) are the best solution for completely eliminating deflection and unwanted toe changes on the rear of the E36, E46, and Z4. While rubber and urethane bushings flex during load, the toe can change widely giving you nervous and unpredictable handling. These RTABs have a solid aluminum housing with a high-quality sealed OE bearing. These bushings were developed from years of competition use in various racing and HPDE events. There is simply no better RTAB unless your racing class rules prohibit the use of mono or spherical bearings.

The rear trailing arm bushings take a lot of abuse from acclerating, braking and cornering. The stock rubber bushings are just not up to the task of keeping rear wheel alignment in spec for very long, especially if you have upgraded to stickier tires and a better suspension. The pliable rubber flexes and twists which slows down reaction time and leaves you with a car that feels nervous and 'tail happy'. Urethane helps to control the alignment but issues with fitment, maintenance, and longevity keep us from recommending urethane on anything but a street car. We also offer a Delrin RTAB for cars that must conform to certain racing class rules. These sealed spherical bearings are the best at controlling rear toe alignment.

Our aluminum RTABs are very well made - high grade aluminum alloy and steel CNC'd out of a billet by an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer, each component is either hardcoated or nickel plated. While multiple manufacturers offer two piece designs, our research showed that a one piece bushing is a better design featuring a sealed bearing to keep contaminants out extending the life of the bearing.

Worn rubber differential mounts will lead to the differential twisting and shifting around in the rear subframe. Not only will this be noisy but it's bad for driver confidence and bad for the chassis as well. Even on fresh rubber bushings the differential has deflection and twist, especially if the car has been modified for more torque. Since the differential is centrally mounted in the rear subframe, with all suspension mounts interconnected, a differential with too much deflection will affect handling and could even damage the rear subframe.

These 88A urethane E46 M3 diff mounts are much stiffer than stock but still not as solid as our Turner aluminum/Delrin bushings. This set will resist twisting much better than the stock rubber mounts. Included is the front diff mount and two rear mounts in the cover.

Made in the USA TMS rear subframe bearings are designed to limit rear control arm movement relative to the subframe. The stock BMW subframe bushings are made out of rubber, which allows variance in suspension position due to deformation and compression. A race car needs to have all suspension points remain in place for proper setup. By using high grade aircraft aluminum alloy and high performance race bearings, the TMS bushing replacements are both lightweight and strong. The casing is designed so that if maximum motion occurs, the load will be evenly distributed throughout the casing. Our flanges are designed to spread the load on the subframe and limit movement. The bearing we use is an extra wide race bearing to distribute the load over a broader area. Each piece is anodized or nickel plated to withstand corrosion. These bushings are a perfect compliment to the TMS lower camber arms.

The rear mounts in BMW 3 series fail, no matter what year from 1983 to present, that is a weak point of the suspension. Here's the solution. The 3 Series "Repair Shop" Rear Shock Mounts carry a lifetime warranty and will last as long as you own your car. Expect the same comfortable ride you have with factory mounts. These are an inexpensive alternative to expensive factory mounts.

The E36/E46 rear trailing arm bushings (RTABs) wear out faster than any other bushing on the car. Worn RTAB will cause excessive toe alignment change and give a 'loose' or 'floaty' feeling in the rear handling. One of the reasons for this is that they over-extend during motion, stretching and twisting the rubber in all directions. These shims sit on either side of the bushing and limit the amount of extension from the bushing. Not only will you get more life from your RTAB but these will help stiffen the bushing during cornering. But during normal driving you will still have all of the comfort of the stock rubber bushings. These part about these bushings is how easy they are to install - simply slide them in place during your bushing install. They can be added to pre-installed bushings too by dropping the trailing arm and removing the cage around the bushing.

Works with stock rubber bushings only (not urethane or Delrin).

Rear trailing arm bushings serve the key purpose of keeping rear suspension triangulated and the vehicle moving where it's directed to. Though failure prone, even factory-fresh OEM rubber bushings allow for deflection, causing suspension geometry changes on hard launches, over bumps in the road, and during cornering. Differential bushings are responsible for keeping the differential in solid alignment while dampening drivetrain vibration. While OE rubber bushings are fine when they are new from the factory, aged and worn out rubber bushings create a multitude of issues that can range from annoying to dangerous. As a factory bushing ages, it begins to harden and become brittle. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow for movement at the differential mounting point. At this point, the differential is free to shift under load causing a noticeable clunking noise under acceleration and deceleration and massively increasing the stress on the driveshaft and axles. Manual transmissions suffer the worst from this as it can make shifting difficult since the differential will shift when the clutch is engaged and disengaged.

By replacing these bushings with full polyurethane, the movement is eliminated since the mounting point is supported by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. This means less stress on the driveshaft and axles and greater longevity of supporting components.

Tasked with keeping the vehicles rear end firmly mounted while absorbing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) factory rubber subframe bushings were engineered to provide a balance of control while keeping the ride quality soft and supple. As a factory bushings age, they become brittle and begin to harden. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow excess play, or movement in the subframe. This is typically felt by a sudden jerk or "thunking" noise under acceleration and is a leading cause of "sloppy" or "loose" suspension feel. By replacing the bushings with full polyurethane this play is eliminated since the subframe is being held in place by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. Additionally, the inherent stiffness of the urethane material translates body forces much more directly. When working on the rear subframe, replacement of any rubber bushings and mounts should be performed. This is the front differential mount bushing and it takes the majority of the torquing motion of the diff when under load. The constant twisting will cause this bushing to wear out pretty fast. This is the Original BMW rubber part.

The front control arm bushings are a key piece of the suspension. They are constantly in motion and take abuse from impacts, potholes, rough roads, and general cornering/wheel motions. To give a quiet and smooth ride, the bushings are made of compliant rubber. But the rubber can only withstand so much abuse before they become loose and spongy. This results in vibrations and possibly a shimmy when driving. A visual inspection will usually confirm that there is too much flex in the rubber or the rubber has cracked and torn. And if you're installing new control arms, always install new bushings to avoid duplicating labor costs.

These bushings come pre-pressed into their aluminum brackets. No need to press out old and press in new bushings! Just a simple swap! Sold Individually.

Differential bushings are responsible for keeping the differential in solid alignment while dampening drivetrain vibration. While OE rubber bushings are fine when they are new from the factory, aged and worn out rubber bushings create a multitude of issues that can range from annoying to dangerous. As a factory bushing ages, it begins to harden and become brittle. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow for movement at the differential mounting point. At this point, the differential is free to shift under load causing a noticeable clunking noise under acceleration and deceleration and massively increasing the stress on the driveshaft and axles. Manual transmissions suffer the worst from this as it can make shifting difficult since the differential will shift when the clutch is engaged and disengaged.

By replacing these bushings with full polyurethane, the movement is eliminated since the mounting point is supported by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. This means less stress on the driveshaft and axles and greater longevity of supporting components.

Condor's Offset Rear Trailing Arm Bushings (RTABs) are perfect for the street and the track. They're designed to help correct rear toe-in and toe-out issues on lowered cars. To correct for toe-in: RTABs can be installed with the thick side inboard to help push the rear trailing arms towards the outsides of the car. To correct for toe-out when running minimal camber setup: RTABs can be installed with the thin sides inboard to help push the trailing arms inwards. The amount of total adjustment is purely dependent on how low your car is, but we've seen toe adjustment from 1/8” out on each side to 1/8” in on each side, which is a super nice range for the e36 rear end! They use UHMW in all of their suspension bushings because it is self-lubricating, meaning it requires no grease when installing, has almost zero deflection yet also absorbs some vibration. It will outlast other types of rubber or urethane bushings. They include black oxide plated steel plates for each RTAB to prevent lateral movement between the bushing material and the aluminum. Polyurethane and rubber bushings will deflect and slide, causing your rear alignment settings to change mid-corner. With these bushings, you won't have to worry about dynamic changes in your toe settings; the rear alignment stays in check during hard cornering, braking, and acceleration. Any subframe work or reinforcement project on the rear of the E46 M3 should include a new set of subframe mounts. It's the worn rubber bushings that contribute to failed rear subframes on the E46 (but not the only reason). As the rubber gets worn, there is more flex to the mount. This flexing is then transferred to the sheetmetal in the floor where the spot welds will pop and the sheetmetal will crack. Additional force coming from stiffer suspensions and stickier tires will only increase the flexing of the mounts/chassis.

Of course, stiffer mounts would help prevent this problem but with a stiffer bushing comes ride harshness, vibration, and additional noise. Our engineers and technicians recommend replacement with the factory rubber bushings (along with the appropriate reinforcement of the floor). The rubber bushings help isolate bumps and impacts and are quiet. They are also a perfect fitment and require no maintenance.

Condor Speed Shop collaborated with Syncro Design Works to create these new Monoball Rear Trailing Arm Bushings designed for the track! While also at home on the street, these performance bushings are designed to handle the stresses of the track, offering a full range of articulation for optimal suspension geometry and a sealed design for maintenance-free operation and a long life. SDW's' own 410hp shop track/streetcar still has the original prototype bearing installed in 2009, with no measurable toe deflection. Condor RTAMBs are precision CNC machined and hard coat anodized to protect against corrosion, moisture, and salt spray. They come fully assembled and ready to install. NOTE: Professional installation recommended. These bushings must be pressed into the factory Rear Trailing Arms.

Tasked with keeping the vehicles rear end firmly mounted while absorbing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) factory rubber subframe bushings were engineered to provide a balance of control while keeping the ride quality soft and supple. As a factory bushings age, they become brittle and begin to harden. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow excess play, or movement in the subframe. This is typically felt by a sudden jerk or "thunking" noise under acceleration and is a leading cause of "sloppy" or "loose" suspension feel. By replacing the bushings with full polyurethane this play is eliminated since the subframe is being held in place by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. Additionally, the inherent stiffness of the urethane material translates body forces much more directly. This means steering and acceleration inputs from the driver are effectively transferred to the wheels and vital road information is transmitted properly from the wheels to the driver.

If you're experiencing a "loose" feeling when going around corners, these are the likely culprit. The rear bushings on these cars will wear out just like any other bushing. When this happens, the rear toe (the angle that the tire points in or out) will vary under load. These M3 bushings are more durable than the stock bushings and hold up better than the original bushings. These rear trailing arm bushings (often referred to as RTAB) are listed as the replacement to BMW part numbers  33322228153  and  33-32-2-228-153 .

This is the most up to date version of this bushing from Lemfoerder. We recommend professional installation as these now require special tools for installation.
