Over time, the transmission fluid becomes thick and the filter becomes contaminated with small metal particles. This can cause excess wear, high transmission operating temperatures, and eventual failure. To prevent this we recommend changing your filter, fluid, and seals to ensure your transmission continues to operate flawlessly. We recommend filter and fluid changes every 50,000 miles. This is the direct replacement wheel bearing and hub assembly to fit the front of the E39 Non-M. We sell the OE and OEM bearings so you get the highest quality part available. This is the hub with the bearing and it bolts to the carrier (new hardware is recommended). 

Replace your wheel bearings when you hear groaning or rumbling sounds from the front. These sounds increase in frequency as speed increases and will get louder as you turn the wheel (and put load on the worn side). Failing wheel bearings can also attribute to annoying 'pad knockback' on the track.

When wheel bearings begin to fail you will normally here a squeaking or grinding noise or sometimes feel a slight amount of vibration in the steering wheel. The ZF 320z S5D is a common swap choice among BMW enthusiasts due to its reliable and robust nature. Unfortunately, it does have a weakness.
