Replacing your struts and shocks? Don't forget the bushings! The rubber mounts for the shocks will go bad over time, especially if you drive hard or the roads are particularly rough. The shock mounts locate the front struts and rear shocks to the car - providing a quiet and vibration-free buffer between the road and the cabin. Shock mounts and bushings can wear out just like any other rubber part on the car. This leads to more noise and harshness reaching the chassis and may complicate your new suspension install. When installing new shocks, that is the perfect time to also replace the mounts. There is no additional time to install them, no special tools required, and doesn't take any extra time! If you re-use the original mounts you have the risk of them failing before your next shock replacement, doubling your labor costs.

Our approach to servicing and caring for newer BMW models is not radically different than when we opened nearly twenty years ago. The design and materials of some components have changed but that only affects WHEN you should replace something, not IF. Through our own Service Department, and thousands of sales annually, we have put together packages for your newer BMW model that will reinject some life into your car and keep it performing at its peak. We use Original Equipment (OE) or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts that we have trusted since we opened in 1993. In some cases, we recommend a performance alternative part that we have found works better, or resolves a design flaw, with the original. So you get top quality parts, first-rate service, and unbeatable expertise.

The LL-01 BMW oil specification marks stringent requirements from BMW that oil must meet in order to receive this approval rating. Still used today in many BMW NA and Turbo engines, LL-01 TwinPower Turbo 5w-30 and all LL-01 approved oils are great for ensuring proper wear protection and low fuel consumption, even during high oil change intervals. When BMW LL-04 oil was developed, it was not approved at the time for use in the US. This was due to the high sulfur and ethanol content in US fuels. Originally used mostly for diesel engines and euro motors, LL-04 demand is now starting to pick up with changes in US fuels such as lower sulfur content since 2014 and thanks to LL-04 and LL-01 being interchangeable/compatible. The slight advantage of LL-04 over LL-01 is due to LL-04's higher ZDDP levels and HTHS ratings. This allows for increased engine protection at higher temperatures and engine pressures. In addition, LL-04 also has a lower SAPS level which benefits direct-injection engines, including all BMW turbo engines since 2007.

5,000 Mile Oil Service

• engine oil change with filter, using OE BMW 5W30 or Motul
• replace drain bolt crush washer
• check and empty oil catch can (if equipped)
• reset oil service/maintenance indicator
• inspect and top off any other fluids
   

Annual Service

• air filter cleaning or replacement
• MAF/airflow sensor cleaning
• A/C microfilter/cabin filter replacement

• top off power steering fluid (make sure you use the correct Pentosin fluid!)

• water pump and thermostat inspection or replacement. The water pump on this car is electric and will not display warning signs of impending failure. The output of the water pump can be tested however, and your local full-service BMW repair shop should have the diagnostic tools to perform this test.

Your 335i is capable of super-serious speeds - make sure your suspension matches its capability! The stock 335 suspension shares many of its components with the regular 3-series models. Given the power output differences you should have a suspension that is able to handle the additional power. This package of H&R sport springs and Bilstein shocks will plant the 335 in the corners much better than stock.

H&R Sport springs lower the ride height as much as 1.3" in front and 1.2" in the back and stiffens the spring rate. Both combine to lower the car's center of gravity and reduce the amount of bodyroll in corners. The springs are progressive rate so their initial stiffness is actually very compliant and it becomes stiffer as the spring is compressed. This is great for street cars that see bumps and potholes where suspension compliance is key. Overall, they are about 30% stiffer than the stock original springs. Lowering amount will be less if replacing the factory sport suspension.

We use Bilstein shocks as the dampers and they feature Bilstein's patented and innovative valving system. With this system, small bumps and impacts are absorbed as they should be. But the shocks stiffen for cornering and other suspension motions. It's the best of both worlds as the shock self-adjusts based on suspension motion. These fit with the stock strut and shock mounts, making for an easy and clean install.

As an E9X M3 owner, do you feel short-changed in the braking department? The next gen M3/M4 got serious Brembo calipers. With a special bracket the front 6-piston calipers can fit the E9X M3 for a bolt-on caliper and rotor upgrade. The rotors in this kit are 382x36mm - 22mm larger and 6mm thicker than the stock E9X rotor (and slightly bigger than the stock M3/M4 disc). The larger front rotors will help manage and dissipate heat better than the smaller stock rotors. And a larger rotor and caliper mean stronger brakes. Testing has shown the brake bias is very close to a stock E9X M3. Upgraded rear rotors are also included to work with the stock rear calipers. These are the blue M3/M4 calipers with the ///M logo.
