BMW has been labeling fluids as "lifetime" for quite some time now, and as enthusiasts and owners have learned over the years, there simply is no fluid that last a lifetime. Kit includes: 5 quarts of Pentosin DCTF-1 fluid DCT transmission cartridge and suction filters Drain and fill plugs Please note: We include 5 quarts of DCT fluid because without a GT1 diagnostic tool and much more involved labor, you will not be able to replace over 5 quarts of fluid. Many elect to do this service and simply flush the fluid 5,000 miles later to ensure all fluid has been flushed, but this is not mandatory.

A sloppy shifter is one of the common complaints of older BMWs. In addition to the shifter linkage the transmission mounts contribute to rough and clunky shifting. BMW transmission mounts are rubber and get softer over time. This allows the transmission to dance around which changes the geometry of the shift linkage and could make it harder to shift. These urethane transmission bushings are stiffer than the stock rubber mounts and won't let the transmission shift around as much. The round design also has more surface area than the stock mounts which helps spread the load. Because the urethane is stiffer, expect more vibration to make its way into the shift lever area. Engine motor mounts should also be considered as a cause for driveline vibration, transmission movement, and poor shifting. Consider replacing your motor mounts at the same time as your tranny mounts.

Price is for the pair of transmission mounts with hardware.

Though not exposed to the same level of heat and contamination as engine oil, transmission oil still breaks down over time due to heat and becomes contaminated as your transmission wears. Old contaminated oil can lead to excessive wear and tear on sensitive transmission components which could lead to slow shifting, slips, and even complete failure. This is also true for the transmission filter. The filter removes metal particles from the transmission fluid and eventually begins to clog, preventing fluid from passing through the filter easily. Like the DCT oil pan, the plastic OEM hydraulics cover is prone to fatiguing from heat cycling; not ideal considering the important parts that reside behind it. And also like it's oil pan sibling, the Fall-Line hydraulics cover uses a bespoke Viton O-Ring that resides within a clever internal channel. Viton O-Rings, due to their exceptional resistance to temperature extremes (-20°F to 400°F operating temp) and low gas permeability, have incredible aging characteristics and therefore eliminate the need for regular replacement.
