Using FEM analysis the engineers at BBS are able to precisely measure and optimize wheel properties before this process even begins. Once the forging process is complete, the meticulous finish work begins.
Back-milling is a process used to optimize the ratio between weight and stability. Using advanced computer analysis and a special CNC milling process the lateral parts that hold the wheel spokes, and are not relevant for stability, are removed. Extensive real-world simulation is used at this point to further ensure that no strength or stability has been lost.
Finally, BBS pays special attention in machining the undercut or back side of the wheel. To machine the undercut, all areas on the inner side of the wheel and the star hub that correspond to weight optimization are processed with special turning or milling tools and excess material is removed to reduce the rotating wheel mass. Special attention is hereby given to the optimization of the inner sides of the spokes and the bolt circle. With the application of these methods, BBS is able to produce more complex forms with increased stability and less material input.
These wheels come in Diamond Black with a diamond cut lip and BBS ensures that their paint quality exceeds OE manufacturer specifications for durability and longevity. A final protective clear coat layer ensures that these wheels will be easy to clean and look amazing for years to come.

Extended Wheel Bolts

Required for all BMW wheel spacers is a set of longer wheel bolts or wheel studs. Spacers cannot be used with stock bolts. Our extended lug bolts are a very high quality and high grade steel lug bolt (grade 10.9). We offer two finishes to get you just the right look with your wheels - black zinc to maintain a factory BMW appearance or a bright zinc nickel finish to go with polished wheels. Zinc finishes are designed to withstand 700 hours of salt spray testing.

5mm spacer note: a 5mm spacer sits on the existing hub lip but leaves less than 5mm of lip for the wheel to rest on. Therefore, wheels that have a bevel around the center bore will not engage the hub lip and may reseult in a vibration.

12.5MM (.49 inch) Wheel Spacer for "Big Pad" BMW wheels (E36, E38, E46, E60, E63, E82, E83, E87, E90, E91, E92, E93 (E9X), Z3, Z4)

These are our Big Pad wheel spacers designed for the latest generation of factory BMW wheels. The "wheel pad" is the back of the wheel that mounts to the hub on the car. Since the early 2000s the factory BMW wheel pad diameter has grown - 150mm, 152mm, 154mm, and now 156mm. Most of the wheel spacers on the market are 152mm. The difference from using the smaller spacer on a large pad will leave an unsightly step down between the back of the wheel and the brake rotor hat (see image). To fix this visual defect we use a larger diameter spacer - the Big Pad. This will have less of a step, or no step at all, when used with the larger pad size. Note that nearly all aftermarket wheel manufacturers use the smaller pad size (mainly to reduce unsprung weight). Wheel studs are among the safest and most beneficial upgrades you can make on a track car. Not only are wheel studs safer than wheel bolts but they make changing wheels/tires much easier. One of the frustrating things about installing your wheels on the hub is that it's difficult to line up the wheel on the bolt holes. As wheels get larger but also heavier it's even more trouble. Add in a wheel spacer and the task is twice as hard. BMW does produce a wheel alignment pin for this purpose but if you're changing wheels often a stud conversion is the better way to go.

Our original bullet nose studs are available in 60mm, 75mm, 82mm, or 90mm. The 75mm works great for cars that do not use a spacer (or a spacer smaller than 10mm). We recommend the 90mm length for cars that have spacers up to 20mm. The 82mm length is a happy medium between the 75mm and the 90mm. These studs come with a OEM-style black zinc coating for excellent corrosion resistance. These studs are perfect for dual-purpose street/track cars. The studs are stronger and safer than wheel bolts with protection against corrosion which makes them suitable for street use. For a dedicated race or track car, where wheel changes or pit stops are more frequent, check out our racing dry lube studs.

Our studs are also designed and manufactured with the properly sized shank to work with a wider range of BMW wheel, nut, and brake rotor combinations. We intentionally avoid the extra large shoulders you see on other studs because they can interfere with some brake rotor hats. The extra large shoulder can be too large to allow the rotor to pass through and drilling out the holes is required (not cool!) Our studs have the sufficient shank for the brake rotor without interfering.

Not all wheel studs are created equal. We don't take a manufacturer's generic wheel stud from their catalog and call it our own. Turner Wheel Studs are manufactured to meet our own specifications. Beware of cheaper studs on the market! We have seen other studs similar to our own designs that are not a true BMW fitment. There are differences that we have ironed out over our years of selling wheel studs for the BMW market. Our stud prices may be slightly higher than the rock bottom prices on the web but we promise that it's a higher quality.

20MM (.79 inch) Wheel Spacer for "Big Pad" BMW wheels (E36, E38, E46, E60, E63, E82, E83, E87, E90, E91, E92, E93 (E9X), Z3, Z4)

These are our Big Pad wheel spacers designed for the latest generation of factory BMW wheels. The "wheel pad" is the back of the wheel that mounts to the hub on the car. Since the early 2000s the factory BMW wheel pad diameter has grown - 150mm, 152mm, 154mm, and now 156mm. Most of the wheel spacers on the market are 152mm. The difference from using the smaller spacer on a large pad will leave an unsightly step down between the back of the wheel and the brake rotor hat (see image). To fix this visual defect we use a larger diameter spacer - the Big Pad. This will have less of a step, or no step at all, when used with the larger pad size. Note that nearly all aftermarket wheel manufacturers use the smaller pad size (mainly to reduce unsprung weight). Wheel spacers are the ideal solution to resolve a number of fitment and aesthetic problems. A spacer fits between the wheel and the hub assembly. The wheel will be pushed further outboard by the thickness of the spacer. Spacers allow you to correct wheel offset issues when the wheel is too 'tucked in' to the bodywork, clear the wheel from contact with the suspension or inner bodywork, clear larger brakes, improve handling and stability by increasing track width, or simply to get the right look and stance. Our wheel spacers are compatible with almost any type of BMW wheel and are a direct fit to the wheel hub (see below for any fitment notes). Longer wheel bolts or wheel studs are required.

20MM (.79 inch) Big Pad Wheel Spacers for BMW E70 X5M, E71 X6/X6M, F02, F06, F07, F10, F12/F13, F22, F25, F3X, F8X M3/M4 These are our Big Pad wheel spacers designed for the latest generation of factory BMW wheels. The "wheel pad" is the back of the wheel that mounts to the hub on the car. Since the early 2000s the factory BMW wheel pad diameter has grown - 150mm, 152mm, 154mm, and now 156mm. Most of the wheel spacers on the market are 152mm. The difference from using the smaller spacer on a large pad will leave an unsightly step down between the back of the wheel and the brake rotor hat (see image). To fix this visual defect we use a larger diameter spacer - the Big Pad. This will have less of a step, or no step at all, when used with the larger pad size. Note that nearly all aftermarket wheel manufacturers use the smaller pad size (mainly to reduce unsprung weight). 5MM (.49 inch) Big Pad Wheel Spacers with extended wheel bolts for BMW E70 X5M, E71 X6/X6M, F02, F10, F13, F22, F25, F3X These are our Big Pad wheel spacers designed for the latest generation of factory BMW wheels. The "wheel pad" is the back of the wheel that mounts to the hub on the car. Since the early 2000s the factory BMW wheel pad diameter has grown - 150mm, 152mm, 154mm, and now 156mm. Most of the wheel spacers on the market are 152mm. The difference from using the smaller spacer on a large pad will leave an unsightly step down between the back of the wheel and the brake rotor hat (see image). To fix this visual defect we use a larger diameter spacer - the Big Pad. This will have less of a step, or no step at all, when used with the larger pad size. Note that nearly all aftermarket wheel manufacturers use the smaller pad size (mainly to reduce unsprung weight). The 3mm and 5mm Big Pad Spacers also solve a problem with F10 M5/F12 M6 wheel fitments. The factory Carbon Ceramic Brakes have a recess machined into the brake rotor hat. The wheel is supposed to sit inside this recess. But some factory and aftermarket wheels have an extra large mounting pad that is too big for the recess. Using the Turner 3mm or 5mm spacers will give you a solid mounting surface for these types of wheels. Wheel spacers are the ideal solution to resolve a number of fitment and aesthetic problems. A spacer fits between the wheel and the hub assembly. The wheel will be pushed further outboard by the thickness of the spacer. Spacers allow you to correct wheel offset issues when the wheel is too 'tucked in' to the bodywork, clear the wheel from contact with the suspension or inner bodywork, clear larger brakes, improve handling and stability by increasing track width, or simply to get the right look and stance. Our wheel spacers are compatible with almost any type of BMW wheel and are a direct fit to the wheel hub (see below for any fitment notes). Longer wheel bolts or wheel studs are required. This latest generation of the Turner Motorsport Wheel Spacers represents a total redesign of the wheel spacer concept - a ground-up, clean sheet design based on our years of BMW service and motorsports. We took everything we have learned from our service technicians, customers, and race team crew and built the spacer to beat all spacers. If you are installing wheel spacers you will need longer bolts to accommodate the extra width. BMW changed their wheel bolt specs around 2006 to use a larger diameter bolt with a rare thread pitch. These 14 x 1.25mm black spacer bolts are correct for the models listed below and have a 17mm head (same as stock). Watch out if you're buying spacers and bolts for these cars as some other retailers are still not up on the change... Replaces BMW part number 36136781151.
