VTT is happy to introduce the first and only available plug and play crankcase breather kits for ALL BMW applications that use the two-prong oil tab style oil fill caps. With this breather simply remove your oil cap, install the breather, and instantly free up horsepower, improve turbo draining, remove crankcase pressure, all while adding a cool look to your engine bay.

Can be used by itself with the stock PCV system to eliminate crankcase pressure, or with any number of PCV setups for the ultimate in crankcase pressure relieve 

Made from 6061-T6 Aircraft aluminum anodized black for a long-lasting finish, 4 stainless steel baffles for complete oil control, a PTFE one way check ball, a high-quality filter, and clamp all work together to keep crankcase pressure where it belongs, out of your crankcase.

Although these come pre-gapped we highly recommend double checking the plug gap upon receiving them and adjusting to your vehicle's individual needs.
For the N55/S55, these plugs are 2 Steps Colder, while for the N54 they are 3 Steps Colder.

Note that BMW Spark plugs require a special 12 point 14mm thin walled socket. We have several options available in our catalog that will help you get your spark plugs changed. The BMW part number for the tool is 83300495560, but we recommend the Schwaben brand T#373727 that won't cost you an arm and a leg.

When it comes time to change your spark plugs, you may wonder about colder stepped spark plugs as many others have. Colder spark plugs work by pulling more heat out of the engine's cylinders (making them "colder") and dissipating it into the engine's head, which is then cooled by the cooling system. Depending on how you have your engine built, these could be a great addition! Colder plugs can help prevent engine knock and prevent the tip of the spark plug from melting or misfiring.

There are two rules that most people tend to go by when deciding on which spark plugs to buy:

The first rule of thumb is that with every 100 horsepower added, you should run spark plugs that are a step colder than your stock plugs. This is generally accepted across the motorsports community but unfortunately isn't always the most accurate measurement of when you will need colder plugs.
The second rule is to go a step colder any time you massively alter cylinder temperatures by adding forced induction to an NA engine, by increasing compression ratio, after altering timing in a major way, or by changing fuel types to something with a higher octane rating such as racing fuel.
Adding spark plugs that are a step colder outside of these conditions, with no real change to the engine, can actually hurt more than help by leading to spark plugs fouling quicker than normal and by making the car harder to start in cold weather conditions.

BMW N63 4.4L Vent Pipe

The BMW N63 4.4L Vent Pipe addresses common issues with oil separators freezing in cold weather conditions. This problem often occurs if the vehicle is driven before it is fully warmed up, leading to a howling noise and multiple oil leaks. The crankcase breather valve in the vent pipe purges oil vapor from the engine block into the valve cover. However, condensation can sometimes cause the valve to freeze, which may result in the oil separator system failing, cracking, or disintegrating. Over time carbon can build up around the head of the spark plug and decrease spark strength and effectiveness, leading to weaker fuel mixture detonation, misfires, and potential check engine lights. Often an oversight in maintenance, ignition components are also susceptible to wear and tear. Spark Plugs can accumulate carbon, reducing the spark intensity and it's ability to properly ignite the air/fuel mixture, leading to misfires and generally declining performance.
