If you have to drop or pull your transmission for any reason, the input and output shaft seals are one of the best "while it's out" maintenance items you can replace. Worn out shaft seals can allow transmission fluid to leak out, possibly shortening its life if the fluid level gets too low. As per ZF's recommendations, Turner Motorsport suggests performing a full service on your 8HP automatic transmission every 50,000 miles. If your vehicle is modified and makes more power than stock or if your vehicle is regularly track-driven, we recommend shorter 30,000-mile service intervals.
