Headers should be part of any M20 performance project or restoration. These Supersprint tubular headers are a larger diameter and have better flow than the stock exhaust manifolds and they make more power. And since the stock headers are known to be brittle and can crack over time these make for an excellent upgrade replacement.
This header system features an X-pipe after the headers to improve exhaust flow and scavenging. The X-pipe helps the exhaust gas mix and then flow into the rest of the exhaust. This header system has a bend in the outlets from the X-pipe to fit to the stock E30 catalytic converter (cut the stock E30 downpipes and these clamp in place). This makes them a direct swap from the stock manifolds and downpipes and an easy fitment for E30s with the stock exhaust.

These Supersprint metallic sport cats are for the E46 M3 with Supersprint's own stepped headers. The piping is slightly oversized and the Supersprint sport cats are much freer-flowing than a traditional stock cat. With less restriction, less effort is required to move the exhaust gasses which will free up horsepower and torque. This cat section will only mount to the Supersprint full stepped headers (p/n 044001) and then to any section 2. These cats are built with O2 sensor bungs pre-installed after the cat if you wanted to extend your stock post-cat O2 sensors (however, special software may still be needed).

Supersprint metallic sport catalytic converters are sourced from HJS of Germany. For 30 years HJS has been supplying motorsports teams with sport cats when rules required them. HJS is now a worldwide leader in sport cat technology and performance. Rally cars, German DTM, and Formula 3 all rely on HJS for clean, reliable horsepower. Supersprint works closely with HJS to spec a catalytic converter that is correct for the vehicle and engine package. This allows for a substantial increase in flow but which, at the same time, keeps the environmental specs within European limits. With any high-flow catalytic converter, special software or other work may be required to keep emissions fault codes and check engine lights from displaying. Supersprint catalytic converters are sold for track and other off-road uses only.

These tuned resonators replace the factory resonator in section 2 of the exhaust. Supersprint also offers this section without any resonator at all. This Supersprint center section will delete the secondary silencer/resonator in the stock exhaust and fit with the Supersprint sport rear muffler. The front of this section is clamped to the stock front resonator. By eliminating one of the silencers, and matched to the rear muffler, more of the Z4's perky engine note will come through. This twin pipe system utilizes two high flow pipes instead of a single large pipe, allowing for up to 25% greater total exhaust flow. Thanks to the increased total flow, these center pipes are capable of supporting S54 engines producing over 400whp, perfect for all highly modified street cars or performance track vehicles.

These connecting pipes allow the Supersprint section 2 exhaust pieces to fit to the original catalytic converters. This makes the system an easy cat-back install for the E90 sedan and E91 wagon models (not needed for E92 coupe or E93 convertible models). These are stainless steel with integrated clamp-on ends.

These tuned resonators replace the factory resonator in section 2 of the exhaust. Supersprint also offers this section without any resonator at all. But if noise and volume is a strong consideration for you then using resonators is a good idea. If you were building a track car with headers and no cats then resonators will help keep noise levels low. This section is 309 stainless steel and 70mm diameter pipes (a little bigger than the factory size) so this piece will flow better and be a little louder than the factory resonator.

Supersprint's sport rear muffler allows more of that engine note to be heard. The stock muffler may be too quiet for some and it's a shame to over-muffle the sound of BMW's engine. This Supersprint section 2 replaces the second of two resonators in the 323/328 exhaust. By deleting resonators you can gain a little more volume from the exhaust. This is especially good if you're a fan of the stock exhaust sound and just want to hear more of it. Replacing one resonator makes a moderate difference but replacing both section 1 and 2 will be a dramatic increase in sound. Supersprint makes one of the nicest, highest quality performance exhausts for the E36 M3 that we have seen. This exhaust functions more like a stock replacement sport exhaust than an aftermarket performance system. The sound is sporty and throaty but without attendant drama and over-powering sound. We like to say that it's a more mature sound than some other aftermarket exhaust which makes it perfect when included on an E36 M3 restoration or classic European tune.
