This is the Genuine BMW replacement rear (bank 2) turbo assembly for the N54 engine in the 2007-2010 335. This is a factory BMW rebuilt turbocharger and comes as a complete assembly, including the manifold to the engine and the wastegage. It's highly likely N54 turbos will have to be replaced before 100,000 miles. Signs of a failing turbo are high oil consumption and blue smoke from exhaust (not from a leak or failing CCV system) because the internal oil seals are no longer retaining oil. Without critical lubrication and cooling effects from oil, the turbo shafts and bearings are usually the first to wear and that requires a complete rebuild. You might also see increased turbo lag or failure to hold boost, which is usually a sign of a failing wastegate or some other internal issue.

Uses a factory solenoid coil for seamless integration Replaces plastic valve parts with metal for reliability and strength – especially important on tuned engines Direct-fit replacement with GFB’s TMS benefits Exclusive “pilot-actuated” valve mechanism for rapid response at high boost GFB expands the DV+ range with a direct-fit solution for the weak factory diverter valve used on many European vehicles. The solenoid coil itself from the factory-fitted valve is great the ECU opens it faster than any pneumatic valve so why replace it? The weak point, however, is the valve mechanism itself. GFB’s DV+ solves this problem by replacing the valve parts with an anodized billet aluminum housing, fitted with a brass piston machined to exact tolerances. The result is sharper throttle response and lightning-fast valve actuation, and it will hold as much boost as you can throw at it. Read all about the DV+ story below. Vargas Stage 1 N54 turbochargers are brand new and include all housing, wheels, and internals. These are brand new units and thus do not require a core charge, making the process easier and simpler. All VTT turbos come with a performance TD04 upgraded thrust to extend the life of the turbochargers. The stock thrust system has shown to be prone to failure and upgraded thrust parts were created to remedy this. The upgraded thrust option consists of an upgraded thrust bearing and a 30% increase in surface area on all complimenting thrust pieces. Every VTT Stage 1 upgrade includes a Billet VTT Compressor wheel. These are fully forged billet wheels, utilizing the ultra-efficient 6×6 blade HTA wheel design as well as extended tip technology to increase airflow a solid 20% over the cast 14T wheels. The use of an aluminum aftermarket charge pipe, and BOV combo is always recommended with upgraded turbos. Add the VTT Cold side Charge pipe, and Turbosmart Raceport BOV to your order for just $349! Please see our BOV article for proper installation to avoid compressor surge! Upgrading your PCV valve is always recommended at the time of turbo upgrade or replacement, as the stock valve can be worn. This means it can stop functioning to its full potential, causing oiling issues with your BMW.
