While the modern B48 and B58 powerplants are incredibly robust, BMW’s choice of brittle plastics for their cooling loops remains a major weak link. This upper radiator vent hose runs constantly hot as it returns pressurized coolant back to the expansion tank. After years of being baked by engine bay heat, the thin plastic neck and internal quick-disconnect seals degrade. A hardened factory plastic line can snap at any moment, spraying coolant everywhere.
