The Pressure Control Ventilation (PCV) valve allows high pressure blow-by gasses from the crankcase to pass through into the intake manifold. This reduces pressure and recycles gases back into the combustion chambers. When the crankcase vent valve fails it can cause excessive oil consumption, engine fault codes and poor idle.
