Virtually every top professional BMW engine builder relies on ARP Pro Series head studs. ARP uses a premium grade 8740 alloy that is rated far superior to "aircraft" quality. Each stud is heat-treated to 200,000 psi, ensuring complete heat penetration. ARP studs are threaded after heat-treat, which gives them 1000% (that's ten times!) better fatigue strength than studs threaded prior to heat-treat. Threading the studs after heat-treating is more difficult and costly (as it's harder on tooling) but the results are well worth the effort. These simply are the best head studs we've found and we highly recommend them in both racing and forced induction applications. Due to the additional clamping force between the head and block, these are IDEAL for turbocharged engines.

Converting from the factory BMW head bolts to head studs makes it much easier to assemble an engine, especially a racing powerplant which must be serviced frequently (and quickly!), and also ensures proper alignment of the head and gasket. Head studs also provide more accurate and consistent torque loading. Here's why: When you use bolts to secure the head, the fastener is actually being "twisted" while it's being torqued to the proper reading. Accordingly, the bolt is reacting to two different forces simultaneously. A head stud should be installed in a "relaxed" mode -- never crank it in tightly using a jammed nut. If everything is right, the stud should be installed finger tight. Then, when applying torque to the nut, the stud will stretch only on the vertical axis. An information sheet is provided with each set.

These Motorsport valve springs are from the Sport Evo 3 model but can be used in all E30 M3s (and others). We found that the stock original valve springs can be too weak when used with upgraded cams and this genuine BMW Motorsport part is an upgrade over the original design. Valve springs also get weaker over time so these are the perfect replacement when refreshing the S14 cylinder head. A weak spring can lead to a burnt valve seat or even a bent valve. These are also the stock springs in the M88/S38 and Euro S50B30.

This Athena Cut Ring Head Gasket is specifically engineered to replace BMW part 11121316714 for the S14B20, S14B23, S14B25, S14B27 engines found in the E30 M3. Factory OEM & MLS head gaskets are only engineered to handle a limited amount of cylinder pressures before they start to leak, causing a range of issues, including engine overheating, loss of power, misfires, and in severe cases, catastrophic engine failure. Athena-SCE Cut Ring Head Gaskets are uniquely designed to handle increased cylinder pressure caused by power modifications, making them the recommended choice for applications making 16+ psi. Design: Athena-SCE's gasket body is composed of Motorgasket, a reinforced material developed by Athena's R&D department. This consists of a steel core covered with two layers of asbestos-free aramid fibre and offers excellent thermal and mechanical resistance without compromising its ability to adapt to mating surfaces. To ensure maximum sealing under all conditions, a silicone bead is also applied to critical sealing areas, such as oil and coolant passages. The AISI 304 stainless steel cooper rings bite into the aluminum head, providing maximum sealing around the cylinder bore and optimizing engine performance, even on engines with nitrous and/or turbo applications that exceed 2 bar boost.

This ARP head stud Kit is designed for the BMW S14 B20, S14B23, S14B25, S14B27 engines found in the E30 M3. Installing ARP head studs can provide several benefits, including increased clamping force, improved head gasket sealing, and greater overall engine strength. This is especially important in high-performance and racing applications where the engine is subjected to increased stress and higher temperatures. Before installing ARP head studs, it is important to properly clean and prepare the engine block and cylinder head mating surfaces. It is also recommended to use ARP Ultra-Torque Fastener Assembly Lubricant during installation to ensure proper torque and clamping force. Instructions: 1. To ensure proper thread engagement and accurate torque readings, clean ALL threads in the block. Chase if necessary with ARP Thread Chaser. 2. Clean and inspect all hardware prior to installation. Look for obvious defects or shipping damages, plus proper fit, length and dimension. 3. If the cylinder head studs protrude into a water jacket, lubricate the block threads of the studs with ARP THREAD SEALER. 4. Screw studs into the block “HAND TIGHT ONLY”. 5. Install the cylinder head(s) and check for binding or misalignment. 6. Lubricate the stud threads, nuts and washers with ARP ULTRA-TORQUE FASTENER ASSEMBLY LUBRICANT. Then install the washers and the nuts onto the studs and tighten them hand tight. ARP recommends using the ARP ULTRA-TORQUE FASTENER ASSEMBLY LUBRICANT that is provided with each kit as opposed to motor oil. This is due to higher friction on the studs as well as inconsistencies in the clamping force of the fasteners when motor oil or other low quality lubricants are used.
