The most common N55 intake utilizes a short plastic tube and oversized cone filter; it is your job to have better taste than the common N55 owner. This carbon intake changes the whole image of the N55 engine while maintaining a flow of cool air and added induction noise. With a dual inlet design the engine bay retains its functionality while adding a second inlet to provide your engine with improved air flow and sound. To ensure the engine gets the coolest air possible the second inlet is located in the "sweet spot" on the cold side of the engine for the lowest intake air temps and most air flow possible. The cone filter features a bellmouth velocity stack filter that creates the satisfying flutter after letting of the throttle.
Our Turner Carbon Fiber Intakes start with a 3D scan of the factory intake and engine bay. Engineers use the 3D imaging of the chassis to design the intake in SolidWorks modeling software. Due to weak plastic construction, the factory plastic crankcase ventilation breather hose is known to fail. After years of exposure to piping-hot engine bay temperatures and chemical-laden oil vapors, the corrugated plastic tubing can crack, crumble, or fail altogether.

The S55 suffers from a weak point in its crankshaft. It has been reported that when increasing the power to the engine, the crank hub can move or spin slightly under an extreme load.
When upgrading your turbos or increasing your BMW's power potential, it's important not to overlook your fuel pump. It is a well-known issue on the BMW N54/55 platforms that your serpentine belt can fail for various reasons. When this happens, there is a high chance of the belt getting sucked behind the front damper pulley and then being pushed past the crank seal into your oil pan. From there it can get sucked into the oil pick up causing total engine failure. Even if you do not lose the engine, it is a COSTLY repair to remove the sub-frame and drop the oil pan to remove the belt. The best way to combat this is to watch for oil leaks and keep up on your maintenance. BUT, even with those preventative measures, pre-mature belt failure can occur. This crank seal guard installs over your front crank seal and will keep the belt from being sucked in if a belt failure does occur. This is a cheap way to ensure you do not end up having to replace your motor from oil starvation due to an ingested belt. Vargas' seal is different from those already on market in two major ways.
