This is useful for people who do not want dealers, techs, etc from accessing their OBD port, and possibly changing a tune, etc. This is also perfect for anti-theft prevention as it will not allow a would-be thief to hook up to the car’s OBD port, duplicate a key, etc. The OBD-LOCK cannot be removed without physically destroying the OBD port if you do not have the proper tools. VTT uses 5 types of screw head designs for every 200 OBD-LOCKS made. This means that worldwide only 40 OBD-LOCKS are using the same head design. The engineers at Vargas saw and dealt with this problem time and again, and they saw fit to do something about it. This hub uses a proprietary "Spline Lock" technology that uses high tolerance machined splines which press into the crank, and positively lock the hub to the crank. The splines are machined in such a way that rotational forces drive the hub, and splines deeper into the crank meaning when the hub encounters a situation that would normally slip a stock hub the splined hub is driven into the crank to keep it in place (much like a splined extractor). It is a well-known issue on the BMW N54/55 platforms that your serpentine belt can fail for various reasons. When this happens, there is a high chance of the belt getting sucked behind the front damper pulley and then being pushed past the crank seal into your oil pan. From there it can get sucked into the oil pick up causing total engine failure. Even if you do not lose the engine, it is a COSTLY repair to remove the sub-frame and drop the oil pan to remove the belt. The best way to combat this is to watch for oil leaks and keep up on your maintenance. BUT, even with those preventative measures, pre-mature belt failure can occur. This crank seal guard installs over your front crank seal and will keep the belt from being sucked in if a belt failure does occur. This is a cheap way to ensure you do not end up having to replace your motor from oil starvation due to an ingested belt. Vargas' seal is different from those already on market in two major ways. Firstly, it is not offensively priced. Secondly, it is 100% billet with no welds on the tabs to break, no cheap bent thin steel pieces. 100% Billet 6061-T6 aluminum, anodized black for long-term corrosion resistance. Vargas has developed a solution to problematic PCV systems! Stock diaphragms on the gen-1 B58 Valve cover are fragile and can crack or tear over time. This can cause loss of crankcase vacuum and smoking. The VTT PCV cap replaces the factory plastic cap with a billet aluminum piece which uses a Billet Banjo fitting, and VTT's Vaccum/Boost adapter to move vacuum directly from the head ports to the manifold. This cap will also allow you to run a catch can on the low side if desired. VTT Recommends using this cap alongside their High Side Catch Can and crankcase breather for maximum efficiency. BMW introduced a new valvetronic, single turbo version of its direct-injection engine for the F-Chassis models beginning in 2012. The Active Autowerke N55 downpipe for the M235i, 335i, 435i and M2 helps unleash some of the potential that is restricted by the OEM downpipe. Turbochargers are powered by spent exhaust gases created during the combustion process. The quicker these gases are evacuated, the better. Unfortunately, the factory down pipe in the N55 is quite restrictive, which results in slower exhaust gases and slower turbo spool. The engineers at Vargas saw and dealt with this problem time and again, and they saw fit to do something about it. This hub uses a proprietary "Spline Lock" technology that uses high tolerance machined splines which press into the crank, and positively lock the hub to the crank. The splines are machined in such a way that rotational forces drive the hub, and splines deeper into the crank meaning when the hub encounters a situation that would normally slip a stock hub the splined hub is driven into the crank to keep it in place (much like a splined extractor). This fitting adds two 1/8" NPT bungs to accept any fitting that has 1/8" NPT threads. You can choose three configuration options: Fitting by itself Fitting with one 1/4" barb and one plug Fitting with two 1/4" barbs Once installed it tucks perfectly under your engine cover. They COMPLETELY do away with the entire factory intake tract, including the accordion hose, the turbo muffler, and all of the restrictive bends. They then replaced it with a smooth radius 2.5"-4" Silicone intake pipe with wire impregnated to ensure strength and longevity. This is coupled with their billet intake connection for an OEM-like fit, and finish. VTT then created a 100% carbon factory-style intake top and coupled it with their stock-style high-flow cotton pre-oiled filters. VTT is proud to offer a billet replacement for the factory plastic Oil filter housing cap. This cap does away with the weak plastic cap and the need for a special tool for removal, while adding some pop and color to your engine bay. These oil filter housing caps retain ALL of the factory provisions for the filter basket, including the lower pins which are important for the proper function of pressure bypass, etc. They also have cooling fins to help with oil temps. Vargas Turbo designed these caps to complement their N5X Billet Oil caps and N5X Billet Power Steering caps so that all 3 will have the same design.
