Following in the footsteps of the immensely popular and heralded intake for the BMW N55 engine, the next generation of 6 cylinder intake takes the same path to success. Improve upon the factory design by increasing flow via a larger air box and filter element thereby improving throttle response and lessening the strain on the turbocharger for maximum efficiency. While box and filter enlargement and redesign is a major factor in ultimately producing a more potent intake they are not the only variables in creating a more efficient design either. The devil is in the details which is where Dinan thrives. Coupled with maintaining Dinan's standard practice of utilizing a sealed system to ensure as much cold, outside air as possible is employed Dinan engineers focused their attention on the intake pipe itself where numerous improvements could be made. In factory configuration the intake tube comes complete with baffling and a small helmholtz chamber to reduce unwanted sound. As a byproduct these features also cause a more turbulent air flow path which robs the factory system of potential power. These 2 specific details are diametrically opposed to our intended markets desires so the removal of these features was paramount. Through numerous iterations a carbon fiber intake tube was developed that eliminated flow disruptions and allowed the natural sound of an unimpeded intake tract to sing. All told this thorough methodology of design allows the Dinan carbon fiber cold air intake for the B58 engine to elicit gains of 15 HP and 13 TRQ @ 6000 RPM on a completely stock vehicle. An impressive feat on today's turbocharged engines.
Not to be outdone by the performance side of the equation the B58 intake also is completely made up of carbon fiber unlike 6 cylinder intakes of the past where a mix of materials was used. Not only is the intake completely carbon construction but the quality of the material has been improved over previous generations as well. The Dynamic Air Scoop (D.A.S.) from aFe Power is a very simple, bolt-on product that increases air flow and velocity through the factory kidney bean grille. This lightweight rotomold intake scoop is made of carbon fiber. You will notice the improved throttle response as the speed of your intake air flow is increased.
This scoop is a perfect addition to an aFe Stage 2 Sealed intake system part number 54-82202 and 51-82202. All necessary hardware is included.
This is a drop-in stock replacement aFe performance air filter that installs into your BMW's factory airbox. This version has an oil-free filter media for less maintenance. For the best flowing filter, with the best performance gain, we always recommend the standard aFe "Pro5R " filter (which has a blue pre-oiled filter media), but this oil-free filter flows only slightly less than the blue Pro5R style aFe filter, and requires no re-oiling after cleaning the filter.

When modifying the car and increasing boost, installing an upgraded intercooler is essential to keep the engine computer from restraining boost as temperatures climb. The stock air-air intercooler is quickly overcome with heat and can't keep the intake air cool enough. If it's too hot the engine computer will reduce power to safer levels. This Dinan intercooler is a dual-core air-air design with an astounding 240% more surface area than the factory intercooler. The temperature at boost is 60% cooler at 6,250 RPM with the Dinan Dual Core compared to stock. Even heat soak at low speeds is reduced, making this a worthwhile addition even for stock or mildly tuned engines. Professional installation is strongly recommended as bumper removal is required and several pieces in the front end need to be cut and trimmed. The factory charge piping in and out of the intercooler is re-used.

aFe has engineered the Momentum GT intake to outperform the stock air box and deliver substantial power and torque gains over the factory system. The B58 3.0L Turbo benefits from aFe's oversized cotton filter element in a Rotomold plastic housing that blocks heat saturated air while flowing more volume of cooler dense air. The system has been CAD designed to achieve the maximum volumetric flow rate into the turbo. The intake tube is a smooth, unobstructed single piece from the air inlet to the airbox and incorporates a port for the air flow sensor. aFe's advanced engineering and design have made this a direct bolt-in intake upgrade.
The aFe filter has been designed specifically for this application and uses aFe's high flow/low maintenance design. The ProDry S filter has an oil-free filter media for less maintenance. This BladeRunner Intercooler represents the next generation of intercoolers. Designed specifically for the 2012-2016 BMW 328i (F3X) 12-16 L4-2.0L (t) with the N20 engine, this BladeRunner intercooler utilizes a 5" bar and plate core design. This design outflows the factory tube and fin core design, while the 3/16" TIG-Welded end tanks offer superior strength and durability. In testing, this intercooler showed flow gains up to 21% and lowered the intake air temperatures.
End Tanks:
The unique BladeRunner end tanks are constructed out of 3/16" thick aluminum plates and include two 1/8" NPT ports for sensors or water-methanol injection.
5" Bar and Plate Core Design:
The use of the bar and plate core design allows for greater airflow and increased heat dissipation over the much smaller tube and fin design used by the factory.
TIG-Welded:
100% TIG-Welded inside and out by a certified craftsmen for strength and durability. TIG-Welding provides the strongest welds while reducing stress cracks.
