The CSL Airbox is one of the most demanded improvements among BMW M3 E46 enthusiasts. That is both for performance gain and for the sound it brings to the car. On the other hand, it is a laborious, time-consuming, and expensive modification.
For those who are looking for a similar sound to the CSL airbox but are not looking for HP gain, we have developed the Karbonius OEM Style S54 airbox.
It is a simplified version of the CSL airbox, that, apart from a louder sound from the engine (+12 dB compared to plastic OEM), gives an awesome appearance and allows for easy installation using the stock elbow and MAF sensor.
No need to remap!
Regarding power increase, we got +4HP in a recent dyno test compared with the OEM airbox. Not really significant considering that dynos can have a 2% margin error. In conclusion, and pending new tests in the future, we can say no significant power increase and no HP loss.
