This adapter is designed to mount a M50/S50B30 US mechanically operated or M52TU Dive-By-Wire Throttle Body to a M54B30 Intake Manifold. There are several configurations where you could use this adapter but this was originally developed for our racecars that used stand alone ECUs (MoTeC or Bosch Motorsport).

Configuration 1
Adapter Plate to Mount M50/S50B30 US Throttle Body to M54B30 Intake Manifold It allows you to use a mechanically operated throttle body instead of the drive by wire throttle body. The advantage of this is that you can easily use aftermarket engine management systems without extra wiring and programming.

Configuration 2
Adapter Plate to Mount M52TU Dive-By-Wire Throttle Body to M54B30 Intake Manifold It allows you to use a M54B30 intake manifold with your M52TU engine, throttle body, and stock ECU. The advantage is increased air flow from the M54B30 intake manifold over the M52TU intake manifold. Note: the M52TU throttle body will need to be modified to work in the application.

In all cases, the original idle control valve was deleted and the port in the intake manifold was plugged. If your new ECU system still relies on the idle control valve this adapter may not work as intended. The plate mounts flush to the manifold with 4 flat head M6 Allen bolts (included). The throttle body mounts to the adapter with 4 M6 hex head bolts (not included, original mounting bolts can be re-used).

    The F-connector is located on the air intake boot and provides a connection point for the vacuum lines that run to the brake booster and fuel pressure regulator. The factory connector is made of plastic and with heat and exposure to the elements the connector becomes brittle and potentially cracks. As a result, a vacuum leak occurs which can cause poor idling issues, evap fault codes, and poor performance.

    This aluminum version from ECS Tuning is impervious to these issues, and will easy outlast the rest of your plastic and rubber vacuum system components.

    Made in the USA TMS SPEED World Challenge racing team incorporates the M50 throttle body to the E46 325 intake. The reasoning for this is simple. It allows us to use a mechanically operated M50 throttle body instead of the M54 drive by wire throttle body used on E46 motors. The advantage of this is that we can easily use aftermarket management systems (i.e. Motec). The plate mounts flush with 4 flat head M6 allen bolts, and 4 M6 hex head bolts directly between the intake and throttle body and is SCCA legal.

    A bad DISA valve can cause a variety of issues, from a loud racket in the engine bay, hesitation at low rpm and a rough idle with lean codes.

    If the valve is making a loud noise, we recommend replacing it as soon as possible. It is possible for the pin holding the flap to be sucked into the motor causing serious damage.

    Very easy to replace, just need to undo the 4 bolts holding it to the intake manifold.

    This is a replacement ITG foam air filter for use in the Conforti or Eurosport Intake. The ITG filter was chosen for its superior airflow over other types of cone filters while still retaining strong filtration capabilities. ITG may not be as famous in America as other brands, but it's one of the most popular filters in Europe and Asia. ITG Filters can be found in Championship-winning Touring Cars, Japanese SuperGT winners, ALMS, Grand-Am, and even Formula 1.

    These filters come in 3" and 3.5" opening (see below for applications) or check your filter box for correct appliaction.

    All vehicles will lose some degree of performance due to heat soak under the right operating conditions. Engine management systems constantly monitor operating conditions and modifying parameters based on sensor inputs. BMW integrated the intake air temp sensor in the MAF housing on models such as the E39 M5, and, being sandwiched behind a hot radiator and in some applications next to an even hotter valve cover, this is less than ideal for performance applications. Absorbing excess heat from its surroundings, the MAF canaEURtmt shed it fast enough, and the ECU reads an inaccurately high intake air temperature. Compensating for this false hot air measurement, the ECU pulls timing and runs a richer fuel mixture, resulting in a significant loss of torque.

    What can you do? Locate an intake air temp sensor in a location where it can properly measure incoming air temps and where it's less prone to heat soak. Mounting the sensor further away from the heat source and isolating it from the MAF housing, it can both resist the effects of heat soak longer and respond to temperature changes more quickly. The result is youaEURtmll experience reduced torque loss and more consistent power output when youaEURtmre pushing your engine hard.

    The Turner engineering team was initially skeptical of the claimed performance benefits of this modification. They first set out validate the functionality and performance benefit of a temp sensor relocation. Replicating stop-and-go traffic heat soak in a 2001 540i was a simple task in a controlled environment - their dynometer. First the car was heat soaked to simulate being stuck in traffic or moving at low speeds by running the car four times on the dyno with the dyno's cooling fans disabled. The fans were then turned on for three more runs to observe the recovery rate once air flow was reintroduced. The test: following this procedure once with a stock IAT, and once with their relocation kit in place.

    The result? Turner recovered 11lb-ft torque at 2500rpm through use of their relocation kit, with even greater recovery to be found for M5 owners. Here are the heat soak-related torque losses Turner experienced:

    Stock IAT location:
    18rwtq at 2500rpm
    10rwtq at 3000rpm
    9rwtq at 3700rpm

    Turner IAT Relocation:
    7rwtq at 2500rpm
    5rwtq at 3000rpm
    5rwtq at 3700rpm

    The Turner engineering team designed a complete plug and play kit (unlike all other options on the market) that makes for quick, easy, and reversible installation. Weather-sealed connectors keep out the elements, while sheathed wiring offers a clean appearance underhood. With a harness nearly 3 feet long - the Turner IAT relocation kit offers flexibility in positioning, but not too long that you're left with unsightly excess wiring. Turner recommends positioning the sensor in a location away from engine heat, but still within the intake ducting to achieve accurate intake temp readings - such as the far side of the base of the airbox. Vehicles with cold air intakes with cone-style filters can even position the sensor in the end of the filter. Simply drill a hole in your (cool) location of choice and plug in the harness.
