The Supersprint headers are among the best on the market for making the most top-end power on the M50/S50US engines. These are a long-tube equal length design which maximizes airflow for excellent power gains. On their own these can be good for 12-15hp (and more with other modifications). Experience the latest design innovation from Supersprint for the E46 M3 -- 'stepped' design headers. While the technology has been in widespread use in Formula 1 for awhile, this is the first application of a stepped design on the E46 M3. In an engine that is tuned as much as the S54, airflow management is critical in getting big horsepower numbers from the exhaust. The Supersprint design is the next step in innovation in header design. By slightly increasing the size of the pipe diameters as the exhaust system moves away from the engine, the exhaust can flow more air. Supersprint design is tuned specifically for the S54 engine which is important in making more power without losing low-end torque. The headers merge into a precision-fit merge collector. Total horsepower gain with the complete system over a US Vehicle would be more than 30 hp. 15-19 hp gain over 'Euro-style' headers full stepped tubular and equal length headers bolts to the engine with factory hardware and gaskets used with Supersprint stepped section 1 (with or without cats) Included in this kit are Supersprint metallic sport cats designed to pair right up top Supersprint's own stepped headers. The piping is slightly oversized and the Supersprint sport cats are much freer-flowing than a traditional stock cat. With less restriction, less effort is required to move the exhaust gasses which will free up horsepower and torque. This cat section will only mount to the Supersprint full stepped headers (p/n 044001) and then to any section 2. These cats are built with O2 sensor bungs pre-installed after the cat if you wanted to extend your stock post-cat O2 sensors (however, special software may still be needed). When deciding on the right exhaust the hardest part is feeling confident in the best sound mixed with increased performance, this really leaves you to guess based on reputation. Special Pricing! These Supersprint 'partial-stepped' headers for the Euro E46 M3, MZ3, and Z4 M are a replacement for the stock manifolds/cats. These are the tubular 'stepped' equal length headers (not the full racing stepped headers) - the header pipes increase in diameter the further they get from the engine until terminiating in a stock Euro-type flange. These stepped headers will bolt to the stock section 1 of the Euro exhaust. For making E46 M3 horsepower and performance gains, headers are right at the top of the list (along with changing the rear end gears). Since the stock catalytic converters are in the original exhaust manifolds, using any type of tubular non-cat manifolds will give instant power gains. The Supersprint headers are full 304 stainless steel (not mild steel) for better heat dissipation and heat resistance to cracking and de-forming (any headers not made from stainless suffer from structural problems). Supersprint designs their headers with CAD programs and 50 years of exhaust tuning experience. These headers are an improvement over any 'Euro style' header on the market. This part is designed for the Euro market with the correct flanges for the Euro exhaust and the O2 and EGT sensor ports pre-installed. Special software or stand alone engine management would be required to keep check engine and fault codes from appearing. Software is recommended to maximize the performance gains from this header upgrade.
