Control arm bushings play a key role in connecting the wheels to the chassis of the vehicle. Tasked with keeping suspension geometry in check while absorbing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) factory rubber bushings were engineered to provide a balance of comfort and control. As a factory bushing ages, it becomes brittle and begins to harden. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow excess play in the suspension joint. This is typically felt by a sudden jerk forward after the car comes to a stop and is a leading cause of "sloppy" or "loose" suspension feel. By replacing the bushing with a full polyurethane unit or using a bushing insert, this play is eliminated since the suspension joint is being supported by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. Additionally, the inherent stiffness of the urethane material translates body forces much more directly. This means steering inputs from the driver are effectively transferred to the wheels and vital road information is transmitted properly from the wheels to the driver.

Powerflex street bushings are ideal for street driven vehicles and those that see occasional autocross or track time. Need bushings for a dedicated track car? Powerflex Black Series bushings are the ultimate in track and race bushings. Featuring 95A durometer polyurethane, Black Series bushings are 25% stiffer than street bushings. Engineered to perform, Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings offer a supreme level of control, while still providing enough comfort for the street, with advanced polyurethane that reduces NVH that often accompanies lesser bushings. Expect improved steering feel, turn in, more responsive handling and overall improved chassis composure with Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings.

Poweflex is a leading manufacturer of aftermarket suspension bushings. Using state of the art design and manufacturing, all replacement bushings are engineered to out-perform and out-last the ones that came in the car. Each line of bushings is meticulously tested and then re-tested to ensure perfect fitment and enduring quality through the life of the vehicle. A full lifetime warranty backs every one of their products and demonstrates the level of confidence and commitment Powerflex has to their customers.

One of the secrets of the M3's acclaimed handling is its suspension bushings and mounts. That's why you absolutely cannot overlook replacing the rubber mounts when installing new struts and shocks. Since these pieces are mostly rubber, they dry up and crack over time. Re-using them lead to problems with fitment or noise, and may have safety issues as well. These mounts and pads are the perfect complement to your new shocks to help restore your car's handling and performance.

This mount package contains all of the commonly replaced rubber mounts and pads for the front and rear shocks on a 2001-2006 E46 M3 (incl CSL model). These are the direct replacement pieces - there's no additional labor, time, or effort and special tools are not required.

The basic E46 M3 mount package includes:
  • Front strut mounts (also known as the guide support)
  • Front upper spring plate with captive bearing
  • Front strut reinforcement plates (to prevent cracking and deforming of the front strut towers)
  • Front and rear self-locking mounting nuts
  • Rear Lifetime Warranty 'Repair Shop' shock mounts
  • Rear shock mount reinforcements (to prevent cracking of shock towers)
  • Rear shock mount gaskets
The spring pads, dust boots, and bump stops can be added from the menu below. Note that front bump stops and dust boots are generally not required if you're using Bilstein struts, Bilstein coil overs, H&R coil overs, or KW coil overs. Those struts come with their own front bump stops and boots and may include rear stops and boots as well.

We offer three varieties of the rear shock mounts - OEM, Repair Shop, and HP alum-rubber. We recommend either the Repair Shop or HP mounts because the stock OEM design has a flaw that can lead to premature failure of the mounts. The Repair Shop and HP mounts use a different design that will last longer and the Repair Shop mounts also have a lifetime warranty!

This package is a complete overhaul of the rear suspension bushings in the E46 3-series. If your car is not feeling as crisp, has irregular tire wear, or has inconsistent (and unsafe) handling it's likely the rear bushings. We put together this package as a total overhaul to restore your car back to its original feel. Depending on the symptoms and diagnosis from your mechanic, it may be logical to replace all of the bushings in the rear suspension (there are 19 total). This is especially true if the subframe is being removed to repair or reinforce the rear floor (prone to failure).

Turner Motorsport is a big believer in using rubber bushings for street cars. Urethanes, Delrin, or aluminum are generally good for reducing compliance and limiting deflection - attributes that don't really work well on roads filled with potholes, railroad crossings, cracks, and expansion joints. The rubber bushings maintain the factory ride/handling traits that won the 3-series praise all over the world. Every bushing will need maintenance or replacement at some point and rubber has proven to last the longest and need less maintenance than anything else, even urethane. And unless competitive driving is your goal, the harder materials are only a gimmick.

    Individual Item Descriptions:
Trailing Arm Bushings and Limiters (33 32 2 228 153 and TSU9990001) - our OEM rubber replacement trailing arm bushings (RTABs) are a perfect fit and help maintain rear toe alignment. The Limiters prevent premature bushing wear.
Rear Inner Control Arm Bushings (upper 33 32 1 092 247 and lower 33 32 6 770 824) - new stock inner rubber bushings for the upper spring arm and the lower camber arm. These do not wear out very quickly but should be replaced as a 'While you're in there...' job.
Rear Outer Control Arm Bushings (upper and lower) (33 32 6 775 551) - outer ball joints for the upper spring arm and the lower camber arm. These are the standard ball joint design found on the M3 and are a direct replacement upgrade on the other E46 models.
Rear Shock Mounts (JTD909) - Our very best JT Designs rear shock mounts with gaskets and hardware. If your mounts have not been replaced in the last 40,000 miles, now is the perfect time. Skip this option if you recently replaced mounts or already have an upgraded mount.
Rear Shock Mount Reinforcements (TSU9975100) - Even if your shock mounts are new or recent, the sheetmetal of the rear shock tower can still fatigue, leaving you with a very dangerous and expensive fix. These reinforcements are extra-thick, providing crucial strength to one of the weakest points on the car. They work with nearly every shock mount.
Differential mounts (33 17 1 093 175MY and 33 17 6 751 808MY) - Now is a great time to replace the rubber-isolated differential mounts. The diff mounts take the bulk of the twisting and binding as power is transmitted through the differential. We use a Meyle HD rubber bushing for the rear mount as it's stronger than the factory part.
Rear subframe mounts (33 31 6 770 783, 33 31 6 770 784, and 33 31 6 770 781 x 2) - The heart of the rear suspension, the subframe (or carrier) mounts located the entire rear suspension to the car. There are four mounts in total and bolt up into the rear floor. Worn subframe mounts are one of the leading contributors to rear floor-subframe failure. As the mounts flex, so does the sheetmetal of the chassis, which will fatigue the sheetmetal and crack the spot welds. Therefore, replacement of the subframe mounts is critical and a must when doing the subframe reinforcement or repair.

This package allows you to build your own rear bushing package to cover the parts you want to replace. As these cars age, they require a number of suspension bushings to be replaced. Bushing replacement not only keeps the car in its top form, it also makes the car safer. Depending on the work, it may be logical to replace all of the bushings in the rear suspension (there are 19 total). This is especially true if you are pulling the subframe out to do the floor reinforcement or if you're doing a diff install. Turner Motorsport is a big believer in using rubber bushings for street cars (with the exception of solid subframe mounts, see further below). Urethanes, Delrin, or aluminum are generally good for reducing compliance and limiting deflection - attributes that don't really work well on roads filled with potholes, railroad crossings, cracks, and expansion joints. The rubber bushings maintain the factory ride/handling traits that won the E46 praise all over the world. Every bushing will need maintenance or replacement at some point and rubber has proven to last the longest and need less maintenance than anything else, even urethane. And unless competitive driving is your goal, the harder materials are only a gimmick.

Any major overhaul of the rear suspension should include new subframe mounts. The worn rubber mounts contribute to rear subframe-floor failure when the deflection in the mount is transferred to the chassis. Rubber mounts are only OK for street cars that don't see aggressive driving, autocross, or track use. For any enthusiastic driving, we strongly recommend our solid aluminum subframe mounts even on the street. They have zero deflection and will not contribute to rear floor failures. And if you leave rubber in the rest of the suspension your ride comfort will not suffer.

    Individual Item Descriptions:

    • Trailing Arm Bushings and Limiters (33322228153 and TSU9990001) - our OEM rubber replacement trailing arm bushings (RTABs) are a perfect fit and help maintain rear toe alignment. The Limiters prevent premature bushing wear.
    • Rear Inner Control Arm Bushings (upper 33321092247 and lower 33326770824) - new stock inner rubber bushings for the upper spring arm and the lower camber arm. These do not wear out very quickly but should be replaced as a 'While you're in there...' job.
    • Rear Outer Control Arm Bushings (upper and lower) (33326775551) - new stock outer ball joints for the upper spring arm and the lower camber arm. These are the standard ball joint design and last a very long time. Check for play with a pry bar and replace as needed.
    • Rear Shock Mounts - Choose from several types of RSM upgrades. If your mounts have not been replaced in the last 40,000 miles, now is the perfect time. Skip this option if you recently replaced mounts or already have an upgraded mount.
    • Differential mounts (33176770788 and 33176751808) - Now is a great time to replace the rubber-isolated mounts. This is another low-wear mount but it can be changed easily, and is a low cost item. Solid diff mounts are streetable with only a minimal increase in NVH.
    • Rear subframe mounts (33316770783, 33316770784, 33316770781 x 2) - The heart of the rear suspension, the subframe (or carrier) mounts located the entire rear suspension to the car. This mount package contains all of the commonly replaced rubber mounts and pads for the front and rear shocks on a 1999-2005 E46 3-series (not for M3 or xi AWD). These mounts and pads are the perfect complement to your new shocks to help restore your car's handling and performance.

This is typically felt by a sudden jerk forward after the car comes to a stop and is a leading cause of a "sloppy" or "loose" suspension feel. By replacing the bushing with a full polyurethane unit or using a bushing insert, this play is eliminated since the suspension joint is being supported by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. The BMW E46 / E36 / Z4 / X3 Rear Trailing Arm Front Bushing by Powerflex is a precision-engineered suspension upgrade designed to improve the handling and durability of several popular BMW models. This bushing replaces the factory rubber bushing located at the front of the rear trailing arm with a high-performance polyurethane version.

    Product Features:

    1. Polyurethane Construction: Unlike standard rubber bushings, Powerflex bushings are made from durable polyurethane, a material known for its superior resistance to wear, heat, and degradation from oils and contaminants. This leads to a longer lifespan and more consistent performance over time.

    2. Stiffness for Enhanced Control: The polyurethane bushings provide increased stiffness, reducing unwanted flex and movement in the rear trailing arms. This helps to maintain better control of the rear wheel alignment, resulting in more stable and predictable handling, especially during cornering, acceleration, and braking.

    3. Reduced Deflection: By reducing the deflection of the rear trailing arms, these bushings help to improve traction and rear suspension geometry. This makes the car feel more planted and responsive, reducing wheel hop and improving grip under load.

    4. Direct Replacement: The Powerflex bushings are designed as a direct replacement for the factory-installed rubber bushings, meaning they will fit perfectly into the existing suspension setup without requiring modifications. This makes installation straightforward while significantly enhancing the suspension’s performance.

    5. Longevity & Resistance: Polyurethane bushings are highly resistant to common automotive contaminants such as road debris, oil, water, and heat. This makes them a more reliable choice for drivers looking for a long-term solution to suspension wear and tear.

    Compatible Models:

    • BMW E46 (3 Series, 1999-2006)
    • BMW E36 (3 Series, 1991-1999)
    • BMW Z4 (E85/E86, 2003-2008)
    • BMW X3 (E83, 2003-2010)

    Advantages:

    • Improved Rear-End Stability: Provides more precise alignment and control of the rear suspension, resulting in sharper handling.
    • Durable & Long-Lasting: Outperforms rubber bushings in terms of longevity and wear resistance.
    • Enhanced Ride Quality: Reduces unwanted suspension movement, improving driving dynamics and cornering performance.
    • Easy Fitment: A direct replacement for stock bushings, with no special modifications required.

For drivers seeking a more connected and performance-focused feel from their BMW, the Powerflex Rear Trailing Arm Front Bushing is a significant upgrade over stock rubber bushings, delivering improved handling, reduced wear, and enhanced driving enjoyment.

Differential bushings are responsible for keeping the differential in solid alignment while dampening drivetrain vibration. While OE rubber bushings are fine when they are new from the factory, aged and worn out rubber bushings create a multitude of issues that can range from annoying to dangerous. As a factory bushing ages, it begins to harden and become brittle. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow for movement at the differential mounting point. At this point, the differential is free to shift under load causing a noticeable clunking noise under acceleration and deceleration and massively increasing the stress on the driveshaft and axles. Manual transmissions suffer the worst from this as it can make shifting difficult since the differential will shift when the clutch is engaged and disengaged.

By replacing these bushings with full polyurethane, the movement is eliminated since the mounting point is supported by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. This means less stress on the driveshaft and axles and greater longevity of supporting components.

Powerflex street bushings are ideal for street driven vehicles and those that see occasional autocross or track time. Need bushings for a dedicated track car? This means steering inputs from the driver are effectively transferred to the wheels and vital road information is transmitted properly from the wheels to the driver.

The heart of the rear suspension, the subframe (or carrier) mounts located the entire rear suspension to the car. This kit comprises OEM Lemforder and Meyle HD rubber subframe mounts. Solid aluminum mounts are also available with very little increase in NVH.

Upgrade your vehicle's handling performance with Powerflex polyurethane sway bar bushings. Unlike OEM rubber bushings that prioritize comfort over precision, Powerflex bushings are designed to reduce body roll and enhance cornering confidence.

Sway bars play a crucial role in transmitting cornering forces from the outside wheels to the inside wheels, ensuring your vehicle stays flat during sharp turns. However, OEM rubber bushings can lead to unnecessary body roll due to their flexible nature, compromising the effectiveness of the sway bars.

Powerflex polyurethane bushings offer a firmer alternative to OEM rubber, providing improved bar retention and minimizing sloppiness during cornering. This results in enhanced handling capabilities and a more engaging driving experience.

As the leading suspension bushing manufacturer in Europe, Powerflex leverages its expertise in polyurethane materials and advanced manufacturing techniques to produce premium bushings that meet exact-fit standards. Whether you're driving on the street or hitting the track, Powerflex bushings are built to last longer than OEM rubber counterparts while delivering superior performance.

For easy installation and prolonged service life, we recommend using Powerflex Copper Grease PCG1. This grease helps reduce squeaks and ensures optimal performance of the bushings over time.

Choose Powerflex street bushings for daily-driven vehicles with occasional autocross or track outings. For dedicated track cars seeking maximum stiffness, Powerflex Black Series bushings with a 95A durometer polyurethane material are the ultimate choice, offering 25% more stiffness than street bushings.

To top it off, Powerflex stands behind its products with a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser, providing peace of mind and assurance of quality and durability. Upgrade your suspension with Powerflex and experience the difference in handling performance.
