Over the life of a vehicle, the transmission can often be overlooked when performing routine maintenance. If left unserviced, the automatic transmission fluid will break down, causing the valve body and filter to become contaminated with deposits and sludge. This will lead to poor shifting, slipping, and ultimately, transmission failure. Kit Includes: Automatic transmission filter Oil Pan Gasket & Installation Hardware Drain plug with sealing washer Fill plug with sealing washer 7 Liters of Genuine BMW ATF 3+ Fluid NOTE: Depending on the model, an additional liter of fluid may be necessary if you are draining your oil cooler or removing the valve body. As per ZF's recommendations, Turner Motorsport suggests performing a full service on your 8HP automatic transmission every 50,000 miles. If your vehicle is modified and makes more power than stock or if your vehicle is regularly track-driven, we recommend shorter 30,000-mile service intervals. This will ensure your transmission's fluid is free from contamination which will help extend the life of internal transmission components like clutch packs and solenoids.

It combines mechanical and electronic elements to control various functions of the transmission system, including gear shifting, clutch engagement, and torque distribution. The mechatronics unit contains sensors, solenoids, valves, processors, and other electronic components that work together to manage the transmission's operation. It receives input signals from various sensors throughout the vehicle, such as speed sensors, throttle position sensors, and engine load sensors, to determine the optimal gear selection and timing for shifting. If your mechatronics unit has a failed component, the whole unit must be replaced as BMW does not provide individual components. This Mechatronic Repair Kit includes the basic items necessary to replace your unit, including the mechatronics unit itself, a transmission pan, filter, and gasket, plus a new electrical socket connector.
