Anyone with a modified N55/S55 knows the risks involved with the OEM Crank Hub. When the engine simply can't handle the stresses its put under or the design is such that it simply does not support extreme conditions, issues can arise. Under certain conditions, the N55/S55 crank hub likes to spin, without warning and even when the engine is in perfect health. MMR has produced a EN36 machined billet one-piece crank hub heat treated with a 0.75mm case hardening which makes it extremely durable. Due to the one-piece design, it ensures that the friction plates cannot slip. This offers a huge jump in reliability when paired with a new properly torques crank bolt. Installation is requires no drilling or modification to the OEM crankshaft ensuring a perfect fit! Included in this kit is MMR's T-6061 machined billet aluminum capture plate anodized in their trademark finish. The MMR Performance capture plate secures the head of the OE crank bolt and prevents it from turning or being able to loosen. *Installation recommended by a professional shop or technician.

One major hurdle for a track-only car is the limitation of the hydraulic valve lifters in the M50, S50-US, M52, S52-US, M52TU, and M54 engines. These effectively limit your revs to 7200-7300 RPM as the valves 'float' at higher revs, leading to piston-valve contact. By converting to a machined solid lifter, and upgrading other areas of the engine, you can configure the valve train to withstand high RPM running. Not only can you tune for more power, you can help prevent damage during a mild mechanical over-rev.

This kit includes the mechanical spacers to convert hydraulic lifter tappets to solid lifters. The lifter bucket remains in place with the Schrick solid tappet replacing the original. These work on all M50, M52, S50, S52 and M54 engines and were proven in normally aspirated as well as supercharged engines. A custom camshaft is required.

Professional installation and setup is mandatory as these require complete assembly of the head, checking valve lash, then dis-assembly and machining of the Schrick tappet to spec. This kit includes enough spacers for 24 valves. We also carry individual parts, if you are looking for single pieces. This price is for a full set of 24.

Schrick has developed this ultra-aggressive S54 race cam with 288-deg duration and 14mm of valve lift. Because of the aggressive profile and specs of this cam, Schrick only recommends it be used with special custom pistons with deep valve reliefs. We strongly recommend this be professionally installed by an experienced engine builder to check clearances and fitment.

Furthermore, improper installation, maintenance, or operation can turn a perfectly healthy engine into a paperweight. The worst failures, however, are the ones we don't plan for. When the engine simply can't handle the stresses its put under, or the design is such that it simply does not support extreme conditions. Enter the N54 crank hub. Under certain conditions, it likes to spin without warning, even when the engine is in perfect health. The engineers at Vargas saw and dealt with this problem time and again, and they saw fit to do something about it. This hub uses a proprietary "Spline Lock" technology that uses high tolerance machined splines that press into the crank and positively lock the hub to the crank. The splines are machined in such a way that rotational forces drive the hub, and splines deeper into the crank meaning when the hub encounters a situation that would normally slip a stock hub the splined hub is driven into the crank to keep it in place (much like a splined extractor). Vargas spent many months testing, and retesting this design, utilizing well over 10 different samples to come to the final production version. During testing, the final hub managed to break the testing rig before slipping. These have been bench-tested, and real-world tested on the VTT N54 race car spinning 8K RPM, and making well over 900WHP. As the M52tu,M54,M56 engines start to rack up the miles it is a good idea to replace the oil pump with this Genuine BMW part. We also recommend replacing the oil pump nut as it has a tendency to back off over time especially during track use. While you are in there we also recommend replacing the oil pump nut with this drilled oil pump nut as the stock nut has a tendency to back off the shaft especially on track driven cars.

Anyone with a modified S55 knows the risks involved with the OEM Crank Hub. When the engine simply can't handle the stresses its put under or the design is such that it simply does not support extreme conditions, issues can arise. Under certain conditions, the S55 crank hub likes to spin, without warning and even when the engine is in perfect health. MMX has produced a EN36 machined billet one-piece crank hub heat treated with a 0.75mm case hardening which makes it extremely durable. Due to the one-piece design, it ensures that the friction plates cannot slip. This offers a huge jump in reliability when paired with a new properly torques crank bolt. Installation is requires no drilling or modification to the OEM crankshaft ensuring a perfect fit! Can also be paired with MMR's Performance Capture Plate to ensure against loosening of the crank bolt. *Installation recommended by a professional shop or technician.

The vibration damper, sometimes referred to as the crankshaft pulley, is a crucial part of the engine in your BMW. Not only does this pulley supply power to all of the belt-driven accessories on the engine, it also absorbs the shock of the engine while it is running to help give your engine a smooth, quiet idle. If you vibration damper is failing, it will usually present itself in the form of a squealing noise that sounds like a slipping belt. This is an indication that the rubber ring inside of the vibration damper has dried out and cracked, causing the pulley to slip. If your vibration damper has seen better days, it must be replaced in order to keep your engine running properly, and all of you accessories functional.
