These Motorsport valve springs are from the Sport Evo 3 model but can be used in all E30 M3s (and others). We found that the stock original valve springs can be too weak when used with upgraded cams and this genuine BMW Motorsport part is an upgrade over the original design. Valve springs also get weaker over time so these are the perfect replacement when refreshing the S14 cylinder head. A weak spring can lead to a burnt valve seat or even a bent valve. These are also the stock springs in the M88/S38 and Euro S50B30.

The timing chain tensioner from the 1995 E36 M3 is a great upgrade for other Motorsport models - 1988-1991 E30 M3 and 1989-1995 E34 M5! This tensioner virtually eliminates the cold start-up engine rattle so common with the S14 and S38 engines. It makes the whole engine quieter and smoother. Any new tensioner will accomplish that but the S50 tensioner has several new features that make it superior to the original design. This unit also has a internally loaded spring, so installation is much easier than the old style tensioner (no need to squeeze the spring and hold it while installing). Includes oil seal ring (not pictured).

A new oxygen sensor can improve driveability and lengthen engine life. Ultimately, you achieve a smoother running engine that is more fuel efficient. Feedback from the oxygen sensor provides closed-loop control of the injected quantity of fuel for optimum air-fuel mixture, enabling virtually complete combustion to take place. Contaminants in gas and certain atmospheric conditions can drastically shorten the life of any oxygen sensor, therefore they should be checked with every periodic maintenance and changed if necessary.

This is the OEM Bosch oxygen sensor for E30 BMW's with the S14 engine. This sensor is mounted in the manifold before the catalytic converter. OEM replacement for BMW # 11781310838.

This is a reference sensor used for crank position signal for the E24 635 and a top dead center signal for the E30 M3.

The E24 can have a crank position sensor (CPS) in one of two places: mounted in the transmission bellhousing reading the flywheel (early cars) or on the front of the engine block reading the teeth on the front crank pulley (later cars). The BMW parts information does not show a clear cutoff for each so check your car before ordering. The CPS sends a position signal to the DME so the computer knows when the engine is at TDC and can start the car. It's also when the engine is running for ignition timing. If your engine is not starting or running with misfires this is definitely one of the likely causes. Keep one as a spare to avoid downtime or being stranded!

This also sends a TDC signal in the E30 M3 but it's only used during diagnostic tests. The sensor is located on the upper transmission bellhousing, separate from the other reference sensors. It's only sending a signal to the diagnostic connector, not to the ECU itself. One of the problems with these reference sensors is that they all look alike, especially the male pin connectors on the body of the car. The TDC reference sensor itself is shorter and stubbier than the other two sensors on the M3 bellhousing. Unlike the other two sensors it does not have any markings or special features, just a plain black connector. And it's often missing from the car because it is not required to run and previous owners may have removed it to eliminate confusion.
