Often an oversight in maintenance, ignition components are also susceptible to wear and tear. Spark Plugs can accumulate carbon, reducing the spark intensity and it's ability to properly ignite the air/fuel mixture, leading to misfires and generally declining performance.

BMW has a seemingly endless number of fans of the N54/N55/S55 engines, three straight-six turbo engines that are each capable of 750+ horsepower, but that doesn't mean they were without their faults! BMW's N54 had a notoriously rocky start with reliability due to multiple issues such as fuel injectors failing, turbos failing, serpentine belt failure, crank hubs coming loose, and more... BMW made multiple attempts to fix the issues plaguing the N54, but they could only do so much and the fixes rolled out seemed temporary at best. Following the N54, BMW released their updated N55 and S55 engines, giving many people hope that these engines would address the previous issues. Unfortunately, this was only some-what the case. Crank hubs and crank bolts continued to loosen over time and serpentine belts continued to shred themselves and get pulled into the oil pan through the front main seal. For all three engines, this meant a single failure could effectively turn your engine into an oversized paperweight. Luckily for us, the BMW community is full of skilled enthusiasts who have gladly taken up the task to offer solutions! The first headache to be addressed was the Crank Hub and Bolt. Using a simple plate that fits perfectly over your crank hub's hex-head bolt and mounts up against the damper, the crank bolt is effectively locked in place, preventing it from being able to back out until the plate is fully removed. Next up was the serpentine belt failures. It's not known what exactly causes the serpentine belt to split, but once it does, the pieces hanging off of the belt wrap around and behind the damper. This leads to the belt breaking up into smaller pieces and eventually getting pushed between the crank hub and rear main seal into the oil pan. These small pieces of debris get caught in and block the oil pickup, preventing oil flow and leading to engine failure. To prevent this, multiple aftermarket companies came up with their own versions of Crank Seal Plates. This plate is installed behind the front damper, blocking the opening that allows the serpentine belt to pass between the crank hub and seal, keeping debris out of your oil pan! Also included in this kit are the components to service your front Oil Cooler/Filter Housing gaskets, refresh your drive belt system, and install the aftermarket upgrades. Ignition coils are key to the efficiency and performance of your BMW. With a faulty coil the spark plug is not burning the air/fuel mixture properly and that can lead to problems anywhere in the engine and exhaust (including catalytic converters and O2 sensors). Problems with one or more coils will cause a fault code but not always a check engine light. A misfire code may be related to an ignition coil but could be from other things as well. Sometimes a visual inspection of a coil and coil boot will give an indication of a failure. You can also move coils around to different cylinder banks to see if the misfire code follows a suspect coil. We suggest always having one or two coils on hand to keep as spares.
This is the current replacement for some BMW 6 and 8-cylinder engines built in the late 2000s and after. BMW has made numerous changes to ignition coil part numbers in recent years but has approved this part number to work in the vehicles listed below. It's listed as a replacement coil for N20, N55, and S55 engines. In March 2015 BMW approved it for N51/N52 engines. This part number replaces the previous BMW part number 12137594937 for the cars listed below.
This is a must-have for ALL BMWs, and simply installs in place of your existing drain plug. With every oil change you perform on your BMW, you'll be able to inspect for metal shavings and debris. Many times, if something is going wrong on your BMW's engine, the magnetic drain plug can give you an early warning. Our championship race team uses this info all the time (Ever find a piece of a valve spring in your oil? We have!) Be sure to get one now, and make the swap next oil change!

Introducing our Turner Motorsport Crank Seal Guard – the essential shield for your BMW's engine integrity. Safeguarding the heart of your vehicle, this meticulously designed guard offers robust protection for the crank seal concealed behind the harmonic balancer.
Considered an indispensable maintenance component for your BMW, the Crank Seal Guard acts as a crucial defense against a potential and preventable catastrophe involving your accessory belt. Facing the reality of potential oil or coolant leaks in your engine, this guard becomes a reliable barrier, preventing these fluids from reaching the accessory belt. The consequence of a compromised belt includes walking, slipping, fraying, and rubber particles finding their way behind the harmonic balancer and into the crank seal – a scenario that can lead to severe engine failure.
Let's be honest, engine leaks are a common occurrence, and whether your engine is currently leaking or not, the Crank Seal Guard is a proactive measure against future threats. The wear and tear on the accessory belt due to oil and coolant exposure can result in slipping, tearing, or, worst-case scenario, belt snapping – posing a significant risk to your engine's well-being.
Prepare your car for the long haul and protect the vital components, It's not a matter of "if" but "when" your belt will become a problem, and our Crank Seal Guard is your proactive solution. Rigorously tested on N52/N54/N55 and S55 for 100% confirmed fitment, it stands as a reliable guardian for your engine's health. Invest in the protection your BMW deserves with the Turner Motorsport Crank Seal Guard.

Red Line 75W90 is a full synthetic high-performance gear oil that is an excellent substitute for expensive factory fluid and an upgrade over off-the-shelf economy fluid. Red Line thoroughly evaluates the manufacturer's recommendations and only makes a fluid recommendation if their own product meets or exceeds the original specification. In many cases the Red Line synthetic will outperform the factory supplied fluids. We've been using Red Line Oil in our BMWs since we opened in 1994 and it remains our best selling BMW differential fluid. 75/90 is the weight most commonly used in BMW differentials since the 1960s, including the factory clutch-type limited-slip diffs (exceptions being M3/M5/M6 cars since 2001). We use 75W90 in nearly all BMW chassis and the custom differentials that we sell. It's great for the street where the polyol-ester base has natural lubricity and friction modifiers lead to smoother and quieter operation with lower operating temps than the factory fluid. We also use it in some track cars that don't already use the more aggressive 75/90NS fluid (without friction modifiers).
Recommended or exceeds specifications for API GL-5, GL-6, MT-1, MIL-L-2105E, SAE J2360, and Chrysler spec MS-9763. Matches the specifications for the factory BMW SAF-XO diff fluid (#07512293972). Show More Show Less
Using a combination of ceramic compounds, this oil additive reduces friction and wear by forming a protective film that cuts down on direct metal to metal contact. This both extends the engines service life and reduces fuel consumption in both gasoline and diesel engines. Specially formulated to adhere to the internal engine's metal surfaces, which makes this great for vehicles with high pressure, cam-driven fuel pumps and engines that make excessive noise on start up.

RED LINE MT-90 is designed to provide excellent protection and improved shiftability for manual transmissions and transaxles. MTL and MT-90 have cured the problem of hard shifting in numerous transmissions which have notoriously difficult shifting. The secret to their success is two-fold. First, they have the appropriate coefficient of friction for most manual transmission synchronizers. Many gear oils, engine oils, and ATFs are too slippery for proper synchro engagement. Secondly, the viscosity characteristics of MTL and MT-90 allow proper shifting over the entire temperature range which the transmission will experience. The synthetic base oils used have a very high viscosity index which provides relatively constant viscosity as temperature changes. MTL is a low 75W, almost a 70W, at very low temperatures and a high 80W, nearly an 85W, at elevated temperatures, providing adequate viscosity to prevent wear and deaden gear noise. MT-90 is a thicker 75W90 version of MTL. The shear stability and oxidation stability of these products are excellent, thus the physical characteristics of Red Line MTL and MT-90 will change little with use.
