These pads were originally equipped on the Euro E46 M3 models and the US M3 ZCP, as well as Euro-spec M models from the 1990s. Owners of the E46 M3 will know that the stock pads are already quite 'aggressive' from the factory with a lot of initial bite. The initial bite was built into the pad to stop criticism of BMW's lack of 'performance' brakes. Instead of building the M models with exotic - and expensive - multi-piston calipers, BMW engineers turned up the braking power in their pads. These pads go a step further as the pads that originally came on the Euro E46 M3 and all E46 M3 ZCPs. For the street, these are excellent brake pads with excellent feel and performance. The only downside is the dust that comes from an organic pad. The problem with many aftermarket and OEM pads is that they do not match the same level of initial bite as the stock OE BMW pads. This can make the brakes feel 'weak' and 'numb' even though the pads are working properly. If you want to maintain your braking feel, these are the best to use.

Although these pads were originally designed for M cars, they fit other models as well, making them a great first-step upgrade for better braking.

These front brake rotor set are from CSL/ZCP E46 M3. They are vented 345x28 rotors, veined directionally for optimal cooling. OEM BMW 2-piece construction makes these rotors lighter than stock and with improved expansion and contraction to prevent rotor warp at high temps.

These rotors are cross-drilled allowing for faster heat dissipation and reduced brake fade on the track.

The stock E46 M3 brakes measure in at 328mm and use a 1-peice rotor. While these are great for road use and even some occasional track days, someone looking for the best track set up should look to change their brakes out to the E46 M3 CSL style brakes. With just the addition of a pair of caliper carriers and a new set of 345mm floating 2-piece rotors, you can substantially improve your braking performance.

E46 M3 CSL/Competition brake rotors offer a number of advantages over the stock rotors. First, they are larger, moving the friction surface further away from the center, creating more surface area. This helps to alleviate heat soak issues that would be found on smaller rotors. Second, they have built in cooling designs that allow the rotors to cool down quicker in between braking. Cross drilling allows for better cooling as well as better pad contact by allowing gasses and break dust to pass through and directional veining improves cooling by forcing through and directing the air flow to reduce temperatures.

This CSL rotor conversion kit can be used with factory wheel sizes of 18" and larger and any E46 M3 brake pad set can be used.
