With the factory intake you are limited to a finite amount of air, this leaves your engine under-served and limits induction noise. When it comes to the recipe for upgrading your E46 there are a few ingredients that you must have, power and sound. While you can add an exhaust for a bit more power and sound, the biggest difference you can make is adding power and sound under your hood with a high-flow intake. The factory intake box is also referred to as a silencer specifically designed to lower the induction noise for a refined driving experience, this helped exponentially when selling the cars out of the show room circa early 2000's. This is a high quality replacment OEM VDO Mass Air Sensor.The MAF controls the amount of fuel that goes through the injectors based on the volume of air coming through the intake. If your vehicle is giving you a MAF code, replace it immediately to ensure you get the best gas mileage and performance. It is common for this part to fail slowly and cause poor fuel mileage and hampered performance. When it fails completely, the vehicle will stutter and stall as it falls into a limp mode. One way to check if your MAF is bad is to unplug the connector before starting your car. If it idles well (compared to a previous poor idle), your MAF needs replaced. If you let this maintenance part go, your fuel economy will suffer as too much fuel is going into the engine and not being burned. A great way to give your vehicle an efficiency boost.

Built for performance and show, the Typhoon Air Intake System is a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum tube induction system designed to fit many sport compact performance vehicles. Each kit is proven on a rear-wheel dynamometer to increase horsepower and torque. Typhoon intakes come in one of three designs; cold air intakes (CA), short ram intakes (SR), or complete cold air (CCA) intakes which can be configured as either a cold air intake or a short ram intake. Available in an assortment of powder coated colors and polished aluminum, these kits are sure to please in every way. They come with an oversized High-Flow conical air filter designed to provide increased surface area and dust capacity. This extra surface area provides even more airflow at lower restriction than a standard K&N O/E replacement filter that is limited to the size of the factory air box.
