The factory BMW S65 dual-mass flywheel is engineered with comfort in mind, catering to the luxury-oriented expectations of the brand’s driving experience. Its design focuses on dampening drivetrain vibrations, smoothing out gear transitions, and minimizing harshness during operation. However, this refinement costs valuable performance. The dual-mass flywheel adds a substantial 27 lbs of rotational mass to the drivetrain, which significantly hinders throttle response and makes rev-matching feel sluggish and disconnected. Moreover, dual-mass flywheels are notorious for being a weak link in modified or high-performance builds and can prove costly to replace when they inevitably fail.
Our Single-Mass Lightweight Flywheel Conversion addresses all of these shortcomings with a purpose-built, lightweight, single-mass design that prioritizes performance. Weighing in at only 19 lbs., this design significantly reduces rotational mass, allowing your S65 to achieve its true motorsport potential!
Features & Benefits:
Precision machined from 4140 HT heat-treated chromoly steel for exceptional toughness, even wear properties, and increased durability.
Material quality promotes even wear across the entire friction surface, prolonging component lifespan.
Heat treated to HRC 28-32, tempered to relieve stress and improve dimensional stability.
Hardness improves component wear characteristics.
Black oxide coated for corrosion resistance on non-friction surfaces.
Precision balanced to exceed OEM specification (G16 spec to 175g-mm).
Specifically designed to work with S65 OE-architecture clutches.
Optimized step height maximizes clutch clamp load and offers a prolonged service life.
Performance:
8 lbs. lighter than the factory BMW flywheel!
OEM Dual-Mass: 27 lbs.
Turner Motorsport Single-Mass: 19 lbs.
Faster revs
Improved throttle response and acceleration
Allows for a more engaging driving experience and delivers a feeling of direct connection
Installation:
Flywheel Hardware: For added peace of mind, apply Blue or Orange Loctite when installing factory flywheel bolts that do not come with pre-applied threadlocker.
Genuine BMW hex bolt. M12X1,5X28
Be sure to replace your hardware with any flywheel removal service such as the rear main seal or clutch and flywheel.
Enhance the performance of your stick shift BMW with the BMS clutch valve, a must-have upgrade for serious BMW enthusiasts. This high-performance replacement replaces the factory clutch delay valve, resulting in quicker shifts, longer clutch life, and improved 0-60 times. Designed with CNC machined precision, it installs quickly using factory-like connections with no modifications required. Made in the USA, this clutch valve is essential for maximizing the driving experience of your BMW.

Experience longer life and less slippage with this Sachs Performance pressure plate for use with sport/racing clutch discs. This pressure plate offers more clamping power, and is recommended for cars making significantly more hp than stock (forced injection, etc) while using a stock flywheel. This is NOT for use on cars with an aftermarket flywheel (stock flywheel only).
Sachs Performance is the racing and performance oriented selection of high quality parts from Sachs and ZF Engineering. Supplying countless brands with OE parts and offering one of the widest selection of OEM replacement parts, they are known for their exceptionally high quality products. You can purchase these performance parts with confidence, knowing they will resist heavy wear and tear for much longer than most other aftermarket options.

This is the stock twin mass flywheel for the E92/E93 335is N54. Sachs recommends a new dual mass flywheel (DMF) on every other clutch replacement. There are several indicators for replacing the flywheel: damage to the clutch contact plate (from a severely worn clutch disc), grease leaking from inside (overheating), build-up of clutch material on the contact plate (excessive slipping and overheating), and failure of the internal damping system.
The dampening system uses rubber or coil springs to absorb driveline vibrations. Through age, excessive heat, and aggressive use the rubber loses its resilience and the metal springs lose their strength and become brittle. If the clutch and flywheel have become overheated the internal grease may break down as well. A DMF failure can be massive and catastrophic, not to mention dangerous as bits of metal and rubber fling themselves through the transmission bellhousing. Heat and aggressive driving will accelerate the wear so race and track cars should have their stock flywheels replaced at regular intervals or with any new clutch. Even normal street cars should plan for a new flywheel if it has high mileage.
DMF wear can only be checked with the transmission and clutch removed. If you can rotate the outer flywheel more than 20mm in either direction then it should be replaced.
A new pilot bearing (roller bearing) is included, pre-installed in the flywheel hub.
New flywheel mounting bolts must be ordered separately.
