This is an OEM INA Upper Idler Pulley, also known as the roller pulley or deflection pulley. The upper and lower idler pulleys are known to be the primary sources for 'belt squealing'. The pulley is also encased in rubber which will crack over time. If left without service the rubber could fail completely, chucking the belt and leaving you stranded. Replacement is a very simple procedure and can be done anytime the fan is off the engine (belt replacement, water pump service, alternator replacement, etc).

This pulley shares its mounting bolt with the alternator, and is used for the main drive belt on the M50-family engines (M50, M50TU, M52, S52, M52TU, M54, M56, and S54 engines), and also used on the S85 V10. This is the same belt that covers the water pump/alternator/power steering systems. Replacement is a very easy procedure (requires fan removal) and will have your engine purring in no time. Belt replacement is strongly recommended at the same time.

The crankcase oil vent system on the N52/N54 is one of its weakest and cheaply designed systems. We see crankcase vent issues on even stock engines but with more boost the problems are exponential. This Vargas upgraded PCV valve, and an oil catch can, are what the N54 engine needs and may alleviate most of your oil and boost leak issues. The PCV valve is supposed to let oil either return to the oil pan or pass through the intake manifold and get burned up in the combustion chamber. However, BMW used a weak plastic vent valve that doesn't seal well when under boost. Instead of  closing and venting the oil out of the intake, it's forced through this valve and into the intake and coating your valves with oil residue and carbon. Most boost equals more oil forcing its way by. This upgraded N54 PCV valve uses higher grade materials, including aluminum, to provide a better seal and prevent oil from entering the intake. It's an easy install and a must-have item when considering any turbo work.

This Genuine BMW low pressure fuel sensor is commonly a cause of a "Increased Emissions" warning on the idrive and for check engine (SES) lights on BMW's with the N54 6 cylinder turbo engine or the S65 V8 engine in the M3. It will also fit a limited number of cars with the N55 engine.

This sensor can be traced to a number of drivability issues, including cold start running problems, misfires, stumbling, hesitations, and overall rough running. You will likely have a code for the misfires, rich condition, or for the sensor itself. In some cases, the combination of codes can bring about a limp mode. Replacing this sensor is an easy and inexpensive first step if you're having any of these issues.

This packages covers the major components you would install along with a new water pump or thermostat. On the N51/N52 cars (128i, 325i 328i, 330i, 525i, 528i, 530i) the water pump and theremostat are mounted together. In fact, to get to the thermostat, BMW expects you to remove the water pump. This package covers the whole job. With the electric water pump now an integral part of the efficiency and performance of the engine, staying on top of its maintenance and replacement is the smart thing to do.

    The water pump on the N52 engine has more cooling responsibilities than ever before. Not only must it provide cooling for the engine, but it's also pumping fluid used to cool the automatic transmission oil. The good news is that the pump only works when, and only as much, as it needs to. The engine computer dictates how much fluid needs to be pumped through the system depending on the load. That means the system can actually stop the pump when warmer temperatures are needed. No longer is the pump spinning all the time from an engine-driven belt. The bad news is that it's now an electrical part, so a failure is usually immediate and with no warning. And if the electronics are at fault, there is no way to rebuild or repair it. Fortunately, the engine computer will force a shut down or reduce power if a problem occurs, preventing catastrophic engine damage.

    How to avoid a water pump failure in the future? Replacing the water pump as part of a regular interval schedule will ensure you always have a functioning pump in place. Since this technology is relatively new for BMW, therefore the lifecycle of the pump isn't yet known, we have been recommending replacement every 80-100k miles. This package of OE/OEM parts covers everything with Original BMW coolant offered to finish off the job. A proper bleeding procedure must be followed with the new electric pump.

    Rod bearings should be replaced as a preventative measure before 80,000 miles. This package is the most complete rod bearing overhaul kit available and includes not just the latest BMW rod bearings and connecting rod bolts, but also everything else that should be replaced with the oil pan and front subframe off the car.

    Rod bearings continue to be a sore subject among M3, M5, and M6 owners. The rod bearings in the S65 V8 have been known to fail within 60,000 miles. There could be a number of reasons for premature failure with a lot of finger-pointing as to the real cause. Whatever the reason, rod bearings are wearing out sooner than expected and their replacement should be considered a required preventative maintenance item. We suggest a replacement interval of between 60,000-80,000 miles with frequent engine oil analysis done along the way*. Driving moderately and allowing the engine to warm up before hard use will also extend rod bearing life.

    After doing so many rod bearing replacements in our own service shop we have put together this comprehensive overhaul package. Our package includes -

    Replacing the rod bearings requires mechanical knowledge and skill, a clean workspace, and several specialist tools. Our preferred procedure is to leave the engine in the car but remove the front subframe. The engine must be supported from above with an engine brace. Removing the front subframe involves disconnecting the control arms and steering rack and steering column. The oil pan can then be removed and you can access the connecting rods and bearings. Replacing the rod bearings themselves is straightforward but patience and forethought will be extremely helpful. In addition to analyzing the severity of the rod bearing wear, the crankshaft must also be inspected closely for damage. Rod bearings that have been severely worn may have damaged the crankshaft (requiring replacement or machining).

    * BMW released an updated rod bearing around 2011 that uses different materials than the original design. The old rod bearings were constructed with several layers or metal, including copper and lead. If an engine oil analysis revealed high levels of these specific metals then it was a sure sign that the rod bearings were nearing replacement. However, the new BMW bearings do not use copper or lead so an oil analysis will not alert you to heavy bearing wear. The new bearings are also a harder material which prolonged the life of the bearing but increased the liklihood of crankshaft damage if a bearing failed. Even though the bearing theoretically lasts longer it's even more important to preventativly replace them before they damage the crankshaft.

    ** These WPC-treated bearings are the best we have seen for the S65. WPC is a shot-peening treatment at a microscopic level. It's perfect for sensitive surfaces like bearings. The WPC treatment removes imperfections and high spots, while creating a surface that retains oil better than the original surface. This greatly reduces friction. The bearings in this kit are factory BMW bearings that are sent to WPC for treatment. The treated bearings are stronger with less metal fatigue and less friction than buying off-the-shelf bearings from the dealer.

    ***BE Bearings is another top pick when considering which bearing kit to choose. Working with Clevite, an OE bearing supplier, their design allows for a bit more clearance than stock, allowing better oil circulation and reducing friction. The material is also made from the original bearing composition of lead-copper, not the updated tin-aluminum used in factory BMW bearings which was excessively hard, potentially damaging the crankshaft when high friction occurred. This softer metal composition can also be tested for via oil analysis, allowing you to see high bearing wear, something the tin-aluminum bearings don't give you the ability to do.

    Our preferred procedure for accessing the engine block is by disconnecting the control arms and steering rack and then removing the front subframe altogether. This hardware is not required but may be a good idea, especially if your original subframe bolts are rusty. Hardware includes:

    Ignition coils are key to the efficiency and performance of your BMW. With a faulty coil the spark plug is not burning the air/fuel mixture properly and that can lead to problems anywhere in the engine and exhaust (including catalytic converters and O2 sensors). Problems with one or more coils will cause a fault code but not always a check engine light. A misfire code may be related to an ignition coil but could be from other things as well. Sometimes a visual inspection of a coil and coil boot will give an indication of a failure. You can also move coils around to different cylinder banks to see if the misfire code follows a suspect coil. We suggest always having one or two coils on hand to keep as spares.

    This is the OEM Delphi ignition coil that is the current replacement for some BMW 6 and 8-cylinder engines built from the late 2000s and after. BMW has made numerous changes to ignition coil part numbers in recent years but has approved this part number to work in the vehicles listed below. It's listed as a replacement coil for N20, N55, and S55 engines. In March 2015 BMW approved it for N51/N52 engines. This part number replaces previous BMW part number 12137594937 for the cars listed below.

    When we designed this catch we wanted to have the most function options available, the best separation method, and the easiest to service. The Turner engineered catch cans offer a pre-setup design based ion desired flow direction, however this does not limit you to this flow. The inner baffle orientation can be easily adjusted to flow in both directions in case you decide to move this catch can to a different vehicle. A 4 chamber system  baffle system inside the catch can was engineered to create multiple changes in the direction of airflow within the separator to cause oil droplets to fall out of suspension before exiting the catch can. Having a closed / recirculated design reduces oil ingestion and promotes cleaner emissions and odor-less operation.

    Our catch can was also designed with the idea that the cans fill level can easily be checked with a top mounted dipstick and an optional use bottom drain hole. The drain system comes complete with a valve and hose to be mounted at a lower area of the vehicle so when you're doing an oil change you can drain the catch can.
