Please note: We include 5 quarts of DCT fluid because without a GT1 diagnostic tool and much more involved labor, you will not be able to replace over 5 quarts of fluid. Many elect to do this service and simply flush the fluid 5,000 miles later to ensure all fluid has been flushed, but this is not mandatory.
Both the cartridge and suction filters have their own challenges in replacing. For best results, replace both.
If there was a Top 5 list of things to do on the E46 M3, a shorter gears would be in the top two... The gearing used to be overlooked when planning modifications but the 3.91 and 4.10 gears are now one of our biggest selling upgrades for the E46 M3! With a rear end gear upgrade you get the effects of adding horsepower but without adding any more stress to the engine or drivetrain. The R&P acts as a torque multiplier, getting you into the power band sooner in each gear. It's one of the best areas to get return from your modification spending. The shorter (numerically higher) rear end gears will give you better acceleration in all gears at any speed with few downsides. Want to make your car faster off the line or out of corners? Or avoid a downshift to pass on the highway? This is what you need. This 4.10 is the latest version from BMW Motorsport - shot peened and hardend for increased strength. The R&P can be installed on its own but for cars that have more than 60,000 miles it would be a better idea to rebuild the whole diff. The factory viscous limited slip units have a typical lifespan of 50-70,000 miles. Why 5th? Because 6th does not have the mechanical advantage to get past wind resistance at these speeds - it is more of a cruise/overdrive gear. Using 5th for comparison purposes is much more relevant than having to take into account wind direction, resistance, grade, elevation, tire sizing, etc. These numbers are for comparisons among gear ratios only, not to determine what your M3 will top out at.
This item is the genuine BMW part and the ring & pinion set only. You will need to have this professionally installed into your existing differential. BMW does not supply differential rebuild parts (bearings, shims, plates, etc.) so only a qualified shop that is experienced in BMW diff rebuilding should perform this installation. Automatic transmissions are reliable, shift smoothly, and can last without issue so long as they are properly maintained. Over time, the transmission fluid becomes thick and the filter becomes contaminated with small metal particles. This can cause excess wear, high transmission operating temperatures, and eventual failure. To prevent this we recommend changing your filter, fluid, and seals to ensure your transmission continues to operate flawlessly. We recommend filter and fluid changes every 50,000 miles.

Collapsing and worn engine mounts can mean big trouble for N52/N54/N55 cars. The stock mounts are filled with fluid that can leak or evaporate over time. That leaves the mount unstable and too flexible to properly support the engine. The side effects of a worn engine mount are: shaking and vibrating engine, driveline twist from engine torque that can break or snap bushings, and broken motor mount arms and bolts. This is a Genuine BMW replacement. When doing any sort of repair or maintenance there is no replacement for genuine factory parts. These OEM Lemforder and Genuine BMW mounts are perfect to eliminate these problems and provide long lasting reliability.

A lightweight aluminum flywheel is a great way to increase throttle response and free up horsepower by reducing drivetrain loss. Factory flywheels are built to minimize engine and transmission vibrations, making them heavier and requiring more energy to make them spin. An aluminum flywheel can save lots of weight over the stock steel unit - sometimes over 50%. While the dampening effect of the stock flywheel is reduced, most enthusiasts would agree that the increase in performance is well worth it. In addition, the lighter flywheel allows the engine to spin more freely, improving throttle response.
This JB Racing lightweight aluminum flywheel kit and is designed to be used with the included factory clutch, making replacement and service easy and inexpensive, especially compared to specialized racing clutches. It also preserves the driveability of your car on the street, and enthusiasts tolerant of a mild to moderate NVH increase will be especially taken with this setup. In addition, the JB Racing flywheel can be easily rebuilt with a new clutch contact surface, allowing you to enjoy faster revs and superior response for many years to come.

This is the stock twin mass flywheel for the N55 engine used in the E82 135i, E9X 335, F3x 335/435, and F10 535i. It's manufactured by OEM supplier LuK. Sachs recommends a new dual mass flywheel (DMF) on every other clutch replacement. There are several indicators for replacing the flywheel: damage to the clutch contact plate (from a severely worn clutch disc), grease leaking from inside (overheating), build-up of clutch material on the contact plate (excessive slipping and overheating), and failure of the internal damping system.
The dampening system uses rubber or coil springs to absorb driveline vibrations. Through age, excessive heat, and aggressive use the rubber loses its resilience and the metal springs lose their strength and become brittle. If the clutch and flywheel have become overheated the internal grease may break down as well. A DMF failure can be massive and catastrophic, not to mention dangerous as bits of metal and rubber fling themselves through the transmission bellhousing. Heat and aggressive driving will accelerate the wear so race and track cars should have their stock flywheels replaced at regular intervals or with any new clutch. Even normal street cars should plan for a new flywheel if it has high mileage.
DMF wear can only be checked with the transmission and clutch removed. If you can rotate the outer flywheel more than 20mm in either direction then it should be replaced.
A new pilot bearing (roller bearing) is included, pre-installed in the flywheel hub.
