Our Performance Software makes more horsepower and torque with no downsides! Performance software is the icing on the cake, the finishing touch, or the capstone for your BMW tuning project. Software ties it all together - maximizing output from upgrades where the factory software can't keep up. The factory software is actually programmed around 87 octane which de-tunes the performance of the car. Our software is set to 91 as a mimimum, allowing us to be more aggressive with the programming. We can refine and adjust the factory limitations, opening up the potential for more horsepower or refinement from your current upgrades. We also tune the software to fix defects and rough edges in the stock software, making the car easier and more enjoyable to drive.

Our software fully maximizes the 'high-output' N52B30M1 engine in the 128i. Our software has been carefully developed on the dyno and the road to provide optimal power and torque gains at all RPM. We change the fuel, Valvetronic, and VANOS maps as well as revise the factory torque limiters. We have paid particular attention to increasing low and mid-range torque. The stock BMW software is hampered by settings for 87 octane fuel. By re-mapping the engine programming for 91 octane, we can make more power, torque, and improve fuel mileage - all without harm to the engine or affecting driveability. The throttle response is also improved (quicker) eliminating unwanted and dangerous flat spots in the pedal response.

What does Turner change in my car's ECU? While much of Turner's performance software is proprietary and under wraps, they do change:

  • Mapping for fuel, ignition, VANOS, camshaft timing for improved power and torque, with special attention paid to low end torque. This results in a more real-world useable powerband that is more enjoyable in traffic.
  • Mapping for pedal input, throttle response, and torque limiters. This results in crisper engine feedback from hitting the gas, and smoother power delivery.

Expect power gains up to 19hp, 19ft-lbs of torque.

There are two ways to get a Turner tune on your N52:

The Z4 3.0i came with the same N52 3.0-liter engine as the more powerful 3.0si. But BMW made several changes to de-tune the 325i (to justify the additional cost of the 330i). Thanks to tuners like us it's now very easy to unlock the potential of the N52 engine to meet the 3.0si output. Our Stage 1 software is a simple re-flash of the stock software, yielding a gain of 19hp and 15ft-lbs of torque! The gains made by this software between 3500 and 5500 are simply a night and day change!

330/3.0si MANIFOLD UPGRADE TUNE

Our Stage 2 software takes full advantage of the 3-stage 3.0si intake manifold on the N52 engine. We take our base Stage 1 software file and tune it for the improved flow coming through the 'High Output' 3.0si intake manifold (also used on the E90 330i). The 3.0si manifold is one of the best power enhancements you can do on the N52 engines and proper tuning is a must to get the most from it. We modify the factory maps for fuel, ignition, and camshaft timing to maximize the intake manifold upgrade. Additional tuning is done to the pedal input, throttle response, and torque limiters for a better torque band and smoother power delivery. You can use the car with the 330 manifold installed and the stock software but the original software will not be optimized for the new manifold. We can also tune for Cold Air Intake (including BMW Euro intake) as well as sport exhausts.

Turner Stage 2 Race Software for E9X M3

Our Race software was co-developed along with our cat-delete Test Pipes and our IMSA E92 M3 racecars. Dyno-tuned and race-proven, this software will get the most from a cat delete upgrade on the E9X M3. The combination of the software and Test Pipes produces over 40whp and 30wft-lbs with no other modifications - a massive gain on an already impressive engine.

Our Race software has been fine-tuned over the years beginning with our IMSA/CTSCC E92 M3 racecars (2011 GS class champions). We modify over 40 different maps in the ECU for such things as fuel and timing maps at part throttle and full throttle, revised torque settings, knock control, VANOS and cam timing, pedal input, top speed limiter, and rev limiters. Additional tuning has been done for the cat delete - prevent limp mode and check engine lights, fault codes for cat delete, and turning off the secondary air pump. Turning off the secondary air pump also disables the cold start sequence so your idle and warm-up will be smoother and quieter. A built-in cold start rev limiter safeguards the engine internals until the oil warms up. Not only is there a lot more power at all RPM but the engine is more responsive and smoother!

The Race software is only for cars with the primary cats removed via Test Pipes or similar race exhaust. We developed this along with our own Test Pipes but the software can also be used with other brands of cat-delete pipes too. In addition to our own exhaust, we have used our software with the Akrapovic Evolution exhaust, Supersprint cat-delete and sport cats, aFe race center pipes, Borla Test Pipes, and others. If you have other modifications done to your M3, we can supply you with specially-developed software to maximize the gains from those upgrades. Turner Motorsport has been developing software on the S65 since our first car in 2008. Since then we have done software projects for street, track, full-race, stroker, and supercharged engine builds using the stock MSS60 DME or a stand-alone Bosch or Motec system. Engine tunes have been developed and checked on our Dynapack chassis dyno and further refined with real world testing. Our Race software is based on the tuning we did for the CTSCC racing series, which we won the championship in 2011. For track cars, our Stage 2 cat-delete software will clear check engine lights and faults related to cat and air pump delete (to satisfy race series regulations).

Our software is installed via the Turner flashing OBD tool. This tool plugs into the OBD socket in the dash and the performance software is installed from a laptop computer connected to the tool. It also works as a fault code scanner to read and reset diagnostic trouble codes and reset adaptations. The software program requires a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 laptop and the installation and setup are very easy (click here for instructions). The OBD tool, cable, and files are shipped to you with simple setup instructions. There is no need to remove your ECU and ship it. You can have your M3 flashed in under an hour from the convenience of your garage or driveway!

Our power and torque gains are advertised with 91. If using 93 we can alter the knock sensor logic to extract more power with the higher grade fuel. Additional race fuel maps are also available, contact us for details.

Rev Limit
On 6-speed manual cars we can set a higher engine rev limit. 8,300 is stock; 8,400 is what was used on the GTS model in Europe; 8,600 is the safest raised rev limit that we have used in our race cars. To make things simple we offer it as either stock 8,300 or raised to 8,600. On DCT cars the higher rev limits are for M shift modes only (manual/paddle shift). The higher revs do not work in full auto D modes. Work is continuing on higher limits for D mode.

Launch Control
Our software can also enable a Launch Control feature. To use it, activate M Dynamic Mode, engage first gear, hold the throttle to the floor (it will only rev to 3,500 RPM), and dump the clutch. Keep your foot to the floor and hang on! You don't have to modulate the clutch and throttle - the engine and DSC modules will handle the launch. We experimented with different launch points and found that 3,500 RPM offers a great combination of tire hook-up and torque output. This is available on manual transmission cars only (DCT has their own built-in launch control).

Disbale Cold Start
This feature is for off-road/track driven cars only. Under the original setup, a secondary air pump will turn on when the engine is started. This is to add fresh air to mix with the rich fuel mixture and heat the catalytic converters faster (rich mixtures are bad for the cats). The air pump stops running when the engine gets to a specified temp and the fuel mixture leans out. Unfortunately, the air pump system raises the idle and produces a very harsh and loud tone to the exhaust. The sound is worse when the catalytic converters are removed (such as on a track or race car) because the exhaust is more open. We will disable the air pump system so it does not activate when the engine is started. You get a super smooth and quiet startup that is a night and day difference compared to the original. This feature should only be used on cars that have had cats removed because the rich fuel mixture at startup will degrade the catalytic converters much quicker.

M Dynamic Mode Steering
We can set the M Dynamic Mode (MDM) steering effort as the standard steering. The MDM steering is heavier and requires more effort when driving at higher speeds. Some owners feel that the standard steering is too light and over-boosted and the MDM steering is a nice change. This does not affect the steering effort, or the other features, of MDM.

240E Update
Our performance and race software is built around a specific version of stock BMW software (version 240E). It was released towards the end of M3 production and includes a number of significant changes over older versions for drivability and torque managment. 240E was such a big step forward that it's considered an upgrade all on its own. No worry if you don't have 240E - we will provide you with a free update before the Turner performance software is installed.

In 2015 BMW released a 241E update. There are minor changes to the software code but the tuning maps and data are all the same as the 240E version so there is no need to update to 241E. If the dealer offers it we recommend that you decline. If you're already on 240E there is no reason to switch to 241E (the tuning maps are the same).


This part alters or deletes the emissions equipment on your car. Because of this, we require a waiver of emissions compliance to be signed and sent in to TMS. You can download the waiver here.

Our Stage 2 software takes full advantage of the 3-stage 330 intake manifold on the N52 engine. We take our base Stage 1 software file and tune it for the improved flow coming through the 'High Output' 330 intake manifold. The 330 manifold is one of the best power enhancements you can do on the N52 engines and proper tuning is a must to get the most from it. We modify the factory maps for fuel, ignition, and camshaft timing to maximize the 330 intake manifold upgrade. Additional tuning is done to the pedal input, throttle response, and torque limiters for a better torque band and smoother power delivery. You can use the car with the 330 manifold installed and the stock software but the original software will not be optimized for the new manifold. The maps and algorithms within the control unit have been optimized for the N20 engine, sending revised fuel and ignition parameters to the stock ECU to control boost depending on load, engine speed, and other factors. Our control unit integrates seamlessly to extract more power and torque without faults and errors - just smooth power and torque. The harness has factory-style weather-proof plugs to connect in-line with each boost pressure sensor and the camshaft position sensor on the engine.

All of the factory safeguards remain in place, including overload protection and warm-up protocols to preserve longevity and factory drive-ability. The Dinantronics Power Module is the least invasive way of getting more power from your 550/650/750. The Dinan tuner box plugs into the existing sockets on your engine computer(s). Adding power and torque to your M3's V8 is as easy as a flash! Where we can make our software better is by tuning it for higher octane gasoline. The stock software is tuned around the 87 octane available in the US (not that most people would use 87 but BMW engineers must account for that possibility). With our software, the performance of the S65 engine is optimized for the higher 91 or 93 octane. We tune many areas of the engine programming - fuel and timing maps at part throttle and wide-open throttle, revised torque settings and knock control, VAN0S variable valve timing, and more. The throttle response is also improved (quicker and smoother) eliminating unwanted and dangerous flat spots in the factory pedal response. We also offer raised rev limits and the top speed is raised/eliminated. Our software uses the factory 240E update as a base. The 240E has several major enhancements over previous factory file versions. No worry if you don't have 240E - we will provide you with a free update before the Turner performance software is installed. If you have other modifications done to your M3, we can supply you with specially-developed software to maximize the gains from those upgrades.

Turner Motorsport has been developing software on the S65 since our first car in 2008. Since then we have done software projects for street, track, full-race, stroker, and supercharged engine builds using the stock MSS60 DME or a stand-alone Bosch or Motec system. Engine tunes have been developed and checked on our Dynapack chassis dyno and further refined with real world testing. For track cars, our Stage 2 cat-delete software will clear check engine lights and faults (to satisfy race series regulations).

Our software is installed via the Turner flashing OBD tool. This tool plugs into the OBD socket in the dash and the performance software is installed from a laptop computer connected to the tool. It also works as a fault code scanner to read and reset diagnostic trouble codes and reset adaptations. The software program requires a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 laptop and the installation and setup are very easy (click here for instructions). The OBD tool, cable, and files are shipped to you with simple setup instructions. There is no need to remove your ECU and ship it. You can have your M3 flashed in under an hour from the convenience of your garage or driveway!


Stage 1 Performance Software Options:

Minimum Octane
You can choose between 91 or 93. We have developed tuning for the standard 'high octane' premium fuel found around the country (91 is the maximum available in some areas). Our power and torque gains are advertised with 91. If using 93 we can alter the knock sensor logic to extract more power with the higher grade fuel. Additional race fuel maps are also available, contact us for details.

Rev Limit
On 6-speed manual cars we can set a higher engine rev limit. 8,300 is stock; 8,400 is what was used on the GTS model in Europe; 8,600 is the safest raised rev limit that we have used in our race cars. To make things simple we offer it as either stock 8,300 or raised to 8,600. On DCT cars the higher rev limits are for M shift modes only (manual/paddle shift). The higher revs do not work in full auto D modes. Work is continuing on higher limits for D mode.

Launch Control
Our software can also enable a Launch Control feature. To use it, activate M Dynamic Mode, engage first gear, hold the throttle to the floor (it will only rev to 3,500 RPM), and dump the clutch. Keep your foot to the floor and hang on! You don't have to modulate the clutch and throttle - the engine and DSC modules will handle the launch. We experimented with different launch points and found that 3,500 RPM offers a great combination of tire hook-up and torque output. This is available on manual transmission cars only (DCT has their own built-in launch control).

M Dynamic Mode Steering
We can set the M Dynamic Mode (MDM) steering effort as the standard steering. The MDM steering is heavier and requires more effort when driving at higher speeds. Some owners feel that the standard steering is too light and over-boosted and the MDM steering is a nice change. This does not affect the steering effort, or the other features, of MDM.

240E Update
Our performance and race software is built around a specific version of stock BMW software (version 240E). It was released towards the end of M3 production and includes a number of significant changes over older versions for drivability and torque management. 240E was such a big step forward that it's considered an upgrade all on its own. No worry if you don't have 240E - we will provide you with a free update before the Turner performance software is installed.

In 2015 BMW released a 241E update. There are minor changes to the software code but the tuning maps and data are all the same as the 240E version so there is no need to update to 241E. If the dealer offers it we recommend that you decline. If you're already on 240E there is no reason to switch to 241E (the tuning maps are the same).

Rev Limit

We have two rev limit options: stock 8,250 and raised 8,500. Having a higher rev limit lets you stay in gear longer and avoid an untimely upshift. Higher rev limits should only be used for brief moments and never for sustained running. Additional engine maintenance, with frequent oil changes and oil analysis, is strongly recommended.

Our software fully maximizes the 'high-output' N52B30O1 engine in the 530i. Our software has been carefully developed on the dyno and the road to provide optimal power and torque gains at all RPM. We change the fuel, Valvetronic, and VANOS maps as well as revise the factory torque limiters. We have paid particular attention to increasing low and mid-range torque. The stock BMW software is hampered by settings for 87 octane fuel. By re-mapping the engine programming for 91 octane, we can make more power, torque, and improve fuel mileage - all without harm to the engine or affecting driveability. The E38 740 has aged well, and continues to be an enthusiast favorite, although lacks the power and torque available on modern models. With careful massaging, we have succeeded in fine tuning calibrations within the factory ECU, resulting in improved performance across the power band - with significant power gains starting at 4,000rpm and continuing straight through the new 6,300rpm redline. We tune many areas of the engine programming -

The software program requires a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 laptop and the installation and setup are very easy (click here for instructions). The OBD tool, cable, and installation files are shipped to you with simple setup instructions. Files are exchanged with our calibrators via email, resulting in no downtime for your vehicle. There is no need to remove your ECU and ship it. You can have your 740 flashed from the convenience of your garage or driveway!

TURNER POWER PULLEY
Our Power Pulley reduces rotational mass and safely under drives your belt driven auxiliaries for reduced parasitic power loss. The end result: More power to your M5 or M6's rear wheels! Designed to give the best performance benefit with no sacrifices or compromises to your BMW's reliability. These have been tested on hundreds of cars before public release and there are simply NO DOWNSIDES to this upgrade. CNC machined using aircraft grade 6061 aluminum billet, and anodized with a stealthy black coating. Others may advertise "their" crank pulley boasting higher numbers (using a smaller pulley profile), but we have concluded that for street and track driven M5 and M6, this is the best size and design to ensure proper engine temp and auxiliary functionality. As the S85 V10 engine doesn't use a traditional harmonic balancer, all factory harmonics and dampening are fully and properly retained. We've found this pulley alone adds 18 to 22 HP and 17 to 21 Ft/lbs Torque on a stock M5 or M6 with no other mods(!!).

TURNER INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR (IAT) RELOCATION KIT
Got heat soak? The problem is that BMW integrated the S68's intake air temp sensor in the MAF housing, which is sandwiched behind a hot radiator and in some applications next to an even hotter valve cover. The MAF housing absorbs the excess heat from its surroundings and can’t shed it fast enough, and the ECU reads a falsely high intake air temperature.  It then incorrectly adjusts operating parameters to compensate for the false hot air measurement (pulling timing and running a leaner fuel mixture), and torque output drops like a rock.

The fix?  Locate an intake air temp sensor in a location where it can more accurately measure incoming air temps and where it is less prone to heat soak.  By mounting a sensor further away from the heat source and divorcing it from the mass of the MAF housing, it can both resist the effects of heat soak longer and respond to temperature changes more quickly.  The end result?  You’ll experience reduced loss in torque and more consistent power output when you’re pushing your engine hard. 

Result? We recovered 11lb-ft torque at 2500rpm by relocating the temperature sensor on an E39 M5 (E60 owners should expect an even more substantial recovery)!

Installation is as simple as drilling a small hole for the sensor and plugging in the harness.
 

AFE INTAKE SYSTEM
Rid your M5 or M6's V10 powerplant of both of its restrictive factory air boxes with this cold air intake kit by aFe, and you'll cut the airflow restriction IN HALF. Air flow showed an increase of 117% and dyno testing yielded max power gains of  28hp  and  24 ft/lbs of torque . The intake tubes of this kit are custom-designed to accelerate airflow for best performance. Fits all 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 and V10 M5 and M6. 

Kit includes everything necessary to install, including installation instructions. This kit can typically be installed in less than 60 minutes, and uses all factory mounting points (no modifications). The kit uses 2 high performance 360 degree radial flow air filters which are washable/reusable (or oiled - your choice). The filtration media uses the deepest pleats in the industry, allowing the most surface area and airflow possible, in the space allowed. The increased airflow is significant enough that it is audible while driving, giving your 5.0 liter V10 a subtly more aggressive sound when revving or under load. Best of all, this is a SAFE product that will not cause any longevity issues or malfunctions to your BMW's intricate engine management system. 

SUPERSPRINT HEADERS/TEST PIPES
This special Race software is designed to work with sport headers that eliminate the primary catalytic converters. On our own M5 project vehicles, the combination of our software and Supersprint headers* netted 30hp and 50ft-lbs of torque - a massive transformation to an already mighty car. While there are incredible gains in power and torque to be had with the addition of headers, customer feedback was telling us some owners were seeking a less expensive and less labor-intensive option - those customers will be particularly interested in the weld-on test pipes below.

The factory header system on the M5/M6 V10 is nicely designed - except where the primary tubes join together. Here the factory tubes are crushed in size and joined in narrow housing ahead of the catalytic converters. Supersprint has designed a fully tubular header and collector system that is fully mandrel bent and makes no compromises. They even patented the design. With a complete exhaust system, we recorded gains of over 60hp! These headers can be connected to either a factory secondary cat or a Supersprint high-flow metallic cat.

TURNER STAGE 2 PERFORMANCE SOFTWARE
Adding power and torque to the M5 V10 is as easy as a flash! Where we can make our software better is by tuning it for higher octane gasoline. The stock software is tuned around the 87octane available in the US (most M5 owners would never use 87 but BMW engineers must account for that possibility). With our software, the performance of the S85 engine is optimized for the higher 91 or 93 octane. We tune many areas of the engine programming -

  • fuel and timing maps at part throttle and wide-open throttle,
  • revised torque settings and knock control,
  • improved VAN0S variable valve timing,
  • smoother and faster pedal response
  • top speed limiter eliminated
  • optional raised rev limit

Our software uses a new version of stock BMW software as its base. Even the new stock software is an improvement over the original M5. If you have other modifications done to your M5/M6, we can supply you with specially-developed software to maximize the gains from those upgrades.

Turner Motorsport has been developing software on the S85 since our first car in 2006. Since then we have done software projects for street, track, and 5.7L stroker engine builds using the stock MSS65 DME. Engine tunes have been developed and checked on our Dynapack chassis dyno and further refined with real world testing. For track cars, our Stage 2 cat-delete software will clear check engine lights and faults (to satisfy race series regulations).

Our software is installed via the Turner flashing OBD tool. This tool plugs into the OBD socket in the dash and the performance software is installed from a laptop computer connected to the tool. It also works as a fault code scanner to read and reset diagnostic trouble codes and reset adaptations. The software program requires a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 laptop and the installation and setup are very easy. The OBD tool, cable, and files are shipped to you with simple setup instructions. There is no need to remove your ECU and ship it. You can have your M5 flashed in under an hour from the convenience of your garage or driveway!​

Minimum Octane
You can choose between 91 or 93. We have developed tuning for the standard 'high octane' premium fuel found around the country (91 is the maximum available in some areas). Our power and torque gains are advertised with 93. The 91 octane version will have less timing and slightly less horsepower gains.​

Rev Limit
We have two rev limit options: stock 8,250 and raised 8,500. Having a higher rev limit lets you stay in gear longer and avoid an untimely upshift. Higher rev limits should only be used for brief moments and never for sustained running. Additional engine maintenance, with frequent oil changes and oil analysis, is strongly recommended.​​

Base File Update
Our performance software is built around a specific version of stock software that BMW released as an update. It includes a number of significant changes over older versions for driveability and torque management. The M5 update was such a big step forward that it's considered an upgrade all on its own. No worry if you don't have it - we will provide you with a free update before the Turner performance software is installed

This software and exhaust modifications alter the federally-mandated emissions equipment on your car. Because of this, we require a waiver of emissions compliance to be signed and sent in to TMS. TMS does not guarantee or promote that this software will pass a federal or state or local emissions test. You can download the waiver here.

The Cobb Tuning AccessPort is a flashing tool that installs performance software through the OBD port on your car. No other software is as easy to use and install! If you can program a TV remote, you're over-qualified to install this software. Just plug the AccessPort into the OBDII port under the dash, bring up the AccessPort onscreen menu, select from a variety of engine maps for your desired performance and install. It's that easy. The software is from COBB Tuning - one of the most accomplished software tuners in the business. The Cobb software replaces the conservative factory settings with different maps to make more power. But it's more than just a way of loading performance software... The AccessPort also functions as a data logger and fault code reader . It's a multi-function tool that you will never get tired of picking up and checking out.

Data
Since it plugs into the car's OBD communication port it has unparalleled access to a stream of engine data. It reads and displays throttle position, boost, ignition advance, wastegate duty cycle, mass air flow, intake air temperature, air/fuel ratio, calculated load, and much more. You can also record data for later analysis - up to 10 hours of running data! It also works as a timing meter for 0-60, 1/8 mile, 60' acceleration, 330' acceleration, and 1,000' acceleration time. You can plug the AccessPort into a PC or Mac and view all of this saved data in their program. This information is invaluable for evaluating engine performance and performance modifications.

Diagnostics
With access to the OBD port, the Cobb tuner can also read and reset Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). This saves you a trip to the dealer or local shop simply to have a fault code interpreted. Now you can pull these codes and get an answer to the problem right away! The code number and a brief description of the code is given so you won't even have to search for it online. Reset the code and you're on your way (unless the code comes back...).

Power
The AccessPort comes pre-loaded with 4 tuning files - Stage 0 (stock), Stage 1 Sport (91 octane), Stage 1 Aggressive (93 octane), and a Valet file. Additional files are available from the Cobb website for things such as an intake and larger intercooler. It can hold up to 100 different tuning files! It also saves your stock original file so you can revert back to stock at any time. The AccessPort maintains the sophisticated control logic, refined engine response and excellent driveability of the stock BMW computer while providing impressive power gains and improved performance. Cobb engineers are constantly revising and tuning their files to extract the most horsepower with the least effect on reliability and drivability.     The Scorcher is a plug-and-play tuning module that installs on the engine wiring harness and modifies the signals from the manifold pressure sensors. The new signals are then sent to the engine computer which increases boost based on the modified signal. The power gains are instantly noticeable and the module has been fully engineered to deliver a smooth and reliable power boost over all RPM. aFe developed this module upgrade on their in-house Mustang and Dynojet dynos as well as using them on their own BMW 135s and 335s. There are other products that give more power (for additional cost and complexity) but more boost also brings more complications. This is all of the power you need without additional drama and trickery. The Scorcher can be used on its own or combined with other aFe Power products for the total package.

    The install is very easy with no cutting or modification to existing components. Unplug the harness from your MAP sensors and plug it into the Scorcher module. Then plug the Scorcher harness into the MAP sensors. Mount the module wherever you wish (Velcro and zip ties included). A blue LED lets you know the module is plugged in correctly and functioning. You can also revert back to stock just as easily! The Scorcher is built with a 0.1% tolerance on critical components. Each connector is an OE type for the best and most secure fitment and they use high quality wiring with excellent heat and chemical resistance. The module box is aluminum with a hardcoat anodize finish. This is way beyond the other 'resistor in a box' products on the market. aFe warranties the complete unit for two years.

We change the fuel, Valvetronic, and VANOS maps as well as revise the factory torque limiters. We have paid particular attention to increasing low and mid-range torque. The stock BMW software is hampered by settings for 87 octane fuel. By re-mapping the engine programming for 91 octane, we can make more power, torque, and improve fuel mileage - all without harm to the engine or affecting driveability. The throttle response is also improved (quicker) eliminating unwanted and dangerous flat spots in the pedal response.

    The E90 325i benefits from two Stages of tuning -
    Stage 1 - stock intake manifold, just a software upgrade

Our control unit integrates seamlessly to extract more power and torque without faults and errors - just smooth power and torque. The harness has factory-style weather-proof plugs to connect in-line with each boost pressure sensor and the camshaft position sensor on the engine.

    All of the factory safeguards remain in place, including overload protection and warm-up protocols to preserve longevity and factory drive-ability. One of the key advantages of this type of system is that it is unaffected by factory BMW updates and service. If BMW updates the computer software to fix any small bugs or issues, the Turner performance upgrade is not lost or overwritten.     The Scorcher is a plug-and-play tuning module that installs on the engine wiring harness and modifies the signals from the manifold pressure sensors. The new signals are then sent to the engine computer which increases boost based on the modified signal. The power gains are instantly noticeable and the module has been fully engineered to deliver a smooth and reliable power boost over all RPM. aFe developed this module upgrade on their in-house Mustang and Dynojet dynos as well as using them on their own BMWs. There are other products that give more power (for additional cost) but more boost also brings more complications. This is all of the power you need without additional drama and trickery. The Scorcher can be used on its own or combined with other aFe Power products for the total package.

    The install is very easy with no cutting or modification to existing components. Unplug the harness from your MAP sensors and plug it into the Scorcher module. Then plug the Scorcher harness into the MAP sensors. Mount the module wherever you wish (Velcro and zip ties included). A blue LED lets you know the module is plugged in correctly and functioning. You can also revert back to stock just as easily! The Scorcher is built with a 0.1% tolerance on critical components. Each connector is an OE type for the best and most secure fitment and they use high quality wiring with excellent heat and chemical resistance. The module box is aluminum with a hardcoat anodize finish. This is way beyond the other 'resistor in a box' products on the market. aFe warranties the complete unit for two years.

    TURNER POWER PULLEY
    Our Power Pulley reduces rotational mass and safely under drives your belt driven auxiliaries for reduced parasitic power loss. The end result: More power to your M5 or M6's rear wheels! Designed to give the best performance benefit with no sacrifices or compromises to your BMW's reliability. These have been tested on hundreds of cars before public release and there are simply NO DOWNSIDES to this upgrade. CNC machined using aircraft grade 6061 aluminum billet, and anodized with a stealthy black coating. Others may advertise "their" crank pulley boasting higher numbers (using a smaller pulley profile), but we have concluded that for street and track driven M5 and M6, this is the best size and design to ensure proper engine temp and auxiliary functionality. As the S85 V10 engine doesn't use a traditional harmonic balancer, all factory harmonics and dampening are fully and properly retained. We've found this pulley alone adds 18 to 22 HP and 17 to 21 Ft/lbs Torque on a stock M5 or M6 with no other mods(!!).

    TURNER INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR (IAT) RELOCATION KIT
    Got heat soak? The problem is that BMW integrated the S68's intake air temp sensor in the MAF housing, which is sandwiched behind a hot radiator and in some applications next to an even hotter valve cover. The MAF housing absorbs the excess heat from its surroundings and can’t shed it fast enough, and the ECU reads a falsely high intake air temperature.  It then incorrectly adjusts operating parameters to compensate for the false hot air measurement (pulling timing and running a leaner fuel mixture), and torque output drops like a rock.

    The fix?  Locate an intake air temp sensor in a location where it can more accurately measure incoming air temps and where it is less prone to heat soak.  By mounting a sensor further away from the heat source and divorcing it from the mass of the MAF housing, it can both resist the effects of heat soak longer and respond to temperature changes more quickly.  The end result?  You’ll experience reduced loss in torque and more consistent power output when you’re pushing your engine hard. 

    Result? We recovered 11lb-ft torque at 2500rpm by relocating the temperature sensor on an E39 M5 (E60 owners should expect an even more substantial recovery)!

    Installation is as simple as drilling a small hole for the sensor and plugging in the harness.
     

    AFE INTAKE SYSTEM
    Rid your M5 or M6's V10 powerplant of both of its restrictive factory air boxes with this cold air intake kit by aFe, and you'll cut the airflow restriction IN HALF. Air flow showed an increase of 117% and dyno testing yielded max power gains of  28hp  and  24 ft/lbs of torque . The intake tubes of this kit are custom-designed to accelerate airflow for best performance. Fits all 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 and V10 M5 and M6. 

    Kit includes everything necessary to install, including installation instructions. This kit can typically be installed in less than 60 minutes, and uses all factory mounting points (no modifications). The kit uses 2 high performance 360 degree radial flow air filters which are washable/reusable (or oiled - your choice). The filtration media uses the deepest pleats in the industry, allowing the most surface area and airflow possible, in the space allowed. The increased airflow is significant enough that it is audible while driving, giving your 5.0 liter V10 a subtly more aggressive sound when revving or under load. Best of all, this is a SAFE product that will not cause any longevity issues or malfunctions to your BMW's intricate engine management system. 

    TURNER STAGE 1 PERFORMANCE SOFTWARE
    Adding power and torque to the M5 V10 is as easy as a flash! Where we can make our software better is by tuning it for higher octane gasoline. The stock software is tuned around the 87octane available in the US (most M5 owners would never use 87 but BMW engineers must account for that possibility). With our software, the performance of the S85 engine is optimized for the higher 91 or 93 octane. We tune many areas of the engine programming -

    • fuel and timing maps at part throttle and wide-open throttle,
    • revised torque settings and knock control,
    • improved VAN0S variable valve timing,
    • smoother and faster pedal response
    • top speed limiter eliminated
    • optional raised rev limit

    Our software uses a new version of stock BMW software as its base. Even the new stock software is an improvement over the original M5. If you have other modifications done to your M5/M6, we can supply you with specially-developed software to maximize the gains from those upgrades.

    Turner Motorsport has been developing software on the S85 since our first car in 2006. Since then we have done software projects for street, track, and 5.7L stroker engine builds using the stock MSS65 DME. Engine tunes have been developed and checked on our Dynapack chassis dyno and further refined with real world testing. For track cars, our Stage 2 cat-delete software will clear check engine lights and faults (to satisfy race series regulations).

    Our software is installed via the Turner flashing OBD tool. This tool plugs into the OBD socket in the dash and the performance software is installed from a laptop computer connected to the tool. It also works as a fault code scanner to read and reset diagnostic trouble codes and reset adaptations. The software program requires a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 laptop and the installation and setup are very easy. The OBD tool, cable, and files are shipped to you with simple setup instructions. There is no need to remove your ECU and ship it. You can have your M5 flashed in under an hour from the convenience of your garage or driveway!​

    Minimum Octane
    You can choose between 91 or 93. We have developed tuning for the standard 'high octane' premium fuel found around the country (91 is the maximum available in some areas). Our power and torque gains are advertised with 93. The 91 octane version will have less timing and slightly less horsepower gains.​

    Rev Limit
    We have two rev limit options: stock 8,250 and raised 8,500. Having a higher rev limit lets you stay in gear longer and avoid an untimely upshift. Higher rev limits should only be used for brief moments and never for sustained running. Additional engine maintenance, with frequent oil changes and oil analysis, is strongly recommended.​​

    Base File Update
    Our performance software is built around a specific version of stock software that BMW released as an update. It includes a number of significant changes over older versions for driveability and torque management. The M5 update was such a big step forward that it's considered an upgrade all on its own.     Our Race software has been fine-tuned over the years beginning with our IMSA/CTSCC E92 M3 racecars (2011 GS class champions). We modify over 40 different maps in the ECU for such things as fuel and timing maps at part throttle and full throttle, revised torque settings, knock control, VANOS and cam timing, pedal input, top speed limiter, and rev limiters. Additional tuning has been done for the cat delete - prevent limp mode and check engine lights, fault codes for cat delete, and turning off the secondary air pump (to satisfy race series regulations). Turning off the secondary air pump also disables the cold start sequence so your idle and warm-up will be smoother and quieter. A built-in cold start rev limiter safeguards the engine internals until the oil warms up. Not only is there a lot more power at all RPM but the engine is more responsive and smoother!

    Our M3 Test Pipes were designed specifically for race/track use and offer a cost-effective means of removing the very restrictive primary cats. On our Turner M3 and BMW Motorsport M3 GT4 racecars the primary cats and restrictive piping is eliminated.     Our software is installed via the Turner flashing OBD tool. This tool plugs into the OBD socket in the dash and the performance software is installed from a laptop computer connected to the tool. It also works as a fault code scanner to read and reset diagnostic trouble codes and reset adaptations. The software program requires a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 laptop and the installation and setup are very easy (click here for instructions). The OBD tool, cable, and files are shipped to you with simple setup instructions. There is no need to remove your ECU and ship it. You can have your M3 flashed in under an hour from the convenience of your garage or driveway!

     

    Turner Race Software Options:

    Minimum Octane

    You can choose between 91 or 93. We have developed tuning for the standard 'high octane' premium fuel found around the country (91 is the maximum available in some areas). Our power and torque gains are advertised with 91. If using 93 we can alter the knock sensor logic to extract more power with the higher grade fuel. Additional race fuel maps are also available, contact us for details.

    Rev Limit

    On 6-speed manual cars we can set a higher engine rev limit. 8,300 is stock; 8,400 is what was used on the GTS model in Europe; 8,600 is the safest raised rev limit that we have used in our race cars. To make things simple we offer it as either stock 8,300 or raised to 8,600. On DCT cars the higher rev limits are for M shift modes only (manual/paddle shift). The higher revs do not work in full auto D modes. Work is continuing on higher limits for D mode.

    Launch Control

    Our software can also enable a Launch Control feature. To use it, activate M Dynamic Mode, engage first gear, hold the throttle to the floor (it will only rev to 3,500 RPM), and dump the clutch. Keep your foot to the floor and hang on! You don't have to modulate the clutch and throttle - the engine and DSC modules will handle the launch. We experimented with different launch points and found that 3,500 RPM offers a great combination of tire hook-up and torque output. This is available on manual transmission cars only (DCT has their own built-in launch control).

    M Dynamic Mode Steering

    We can set the M Dynamic Mode (MDM) steering effort as the standard steering. The MDM steering is heavier and requires more effort when driving at higher speeds. Some owners feel that the standard steering is too light and over-boosted and the MDM steering is a nice change. This does not affect the steering effort, or the other features, of MDM.

    240E Update

    Our performance and race software is built around a specific version of stock BMW software (version 240E). It was released towards the end of M3 production and includes a number of significant changes over older versions for drivability and torque managment. 240E was such a big step forward that it's considered an upgrade all on its own. No worry if you don't have 240E - we will provide you with a free update before the Turner performance software is installed.

    In 2015 BMW released a 241E update. There are minor changes to the software code but the tuning maps and data are all the same as the 240E version so there is no need to update to 241E. If the dealer offers it we recommend that you decline. If you're already on 240E there is no reason to switch to 241E (the tuning maps are the same).

    This kit fits cars with a mechanical wastegate, which was replaced with an electronic one  around production date 6/2013. If your car was produced in June 2013 you should check which one your car has prior to ordering. Installation is plug and play but requires access to the entire engine compartment. The engine computer(s) is part of the intake manifold so access is tight. The Dinan module is installed under the radiator support and the harness has to be run to each computer.     N52 330 Intake Manifold & Software Upgrade for 128i/325i/328i/528i/Z4 The intake manifold from the 2006 E90 330i is a direct, bolt-on upgrade to the other cars with the N52 engine - 128i, 325i, 328i, 528i, and Z4 3.0i. The 330i used BMW's 'high output' N52 engine with a stock 255hp. The other cars used a very similar 3.0-liter engine with only minor changes. The biggest change was with the intake manifold. While these other cars used a single-stage intake manifold, the 330 came with a more advanced 3-stage manifold with electronic valves to direct air to the cylinders that need it most. This kit is a straight-forward bolt-on complete with performance software.

    How The Manifold Makes Power
    The 330 manifold uses two electronic DISA valves (Differential Air Control) to direct incoming air to the cylinders that need it most. The system works based on RPM range to fill each cylinder with as much air as possible while the intake valves are open. This is done by diverting air away from cylinders that have their intake valves closed. With more air volume and fuel adjustments you can extract more power from those cylinders at any given RPM. The standard and medium output N52 engines make do with the old-fashioned single stage system that only works to boost torque in the mid-range. With the additional DISA system you can extract much more power, especially at high RPM. We did our first development on this system in 2006 and it has been one of our top N52 performance upgrades ever since.

    Installation
    Removing and installing the new intake manifold is not very difficult but is quite a bit of work because of where it's located and all of the associated components that are attached to the manifold itself. All of these fittings, brackets and components will be transferred over to the new manifold. There is no drilling, slicing, fabricating, or soldering required. And since the pieces in this this kit are all factory parts the finished install is exactly like what would come from a BMW 330i. There are two DISA valves that are installed on the new manifold and the wiring to control them is already located in your engine bay. Your original throttle body and intake ducting fit exactly the same way.

      The software is done as a reflash of your engine computer. The computer must be sent in to Turner Motorsport for the upgrade. The easiest way to do this is to book your order online, we will contact you with instructions, send us your computer, and we will ship back the upgraded computer and the rest of the kit (you're not charged until items begin shipping). We provide the anti-static bag for your computer. You can use the car with the 330 manifold installed and the stock software but the original 325/328 software will not be optimized for the new manifold.

      The biggest change you will notice is the extra power, especially at high RPM. This is a kit that will make you want to rev to redline on every shift just to feel the difference. The power gains are not 'peaky' but there is a very noticeable bump in output starting at about 3,500 RPM. And with all factory parts and proven performance software there is no downside. The 330 manifold upgrade just may be the best modification you ever make to your E90!

      Note for N51 SULEV owners: the N51 engine already comes equipped with the 3-stage manifold. It's the same part number as the 330 manifold. The software is still available for the N51 so you can still get more performance, power, and torque (click here).

    Turner's 550i upgrade solution is a tuning module that plugs in ahead of the engine computer on the wiring harness. It's not the run-of-the-mill 'piggy-back' style upgrades you find for less. Inside our module is a sophisticated control unit that is designed to complement and work with the factory ECUs. The maps and algorithms within the control unit have been optimized for the N63 engine, sending revised fuel and ignition parameters to the stock ECUs to control boost depending on load, engine speed, and other factors. Our control unit integrates seamlessly to extract more power and torque without faults and errors - just smooth power and torque. The harness has factory-style weather-proof plugs to connect in-line with each boost pressure sensor and the camshaft position sensor on the engine.

    All of the factory safeguards remain in place, including overload protection and warm-up protocols to preserve longevity and factory drive-ability. One of the key advantages of this type of system is that it is unaffected by factory BMW updates and service. If BMW updates the computer software to fix any small bugs or issues, the Turner performance upgrade is not lost or overwritten. This is key on new models because BMW is constantly releasing small software updates. All of the factory diagnostics and service access is retained.     In addition to increasing boost and optimizing the fuel and ignition data, the Dinantronics Power Module is tuned for the Dinan Intake and Dinan Exhaust on the S55. The Dinan tuner box plugs into the existing sockets on your engine computers The original wiring harness plugs into the Dinan tuner box. There is no cutting or splicing into wires and the whole harness is completely reversible at any time.

    Because the Dinantronics module plugs directly into the engine computer, it can control the data from every sensor on the engine - not just the two or three that other piggyback-style modules use. Instead of only modifying a boost and RPM sensor, the Dinan power module sends a modified signal for fuel and ignition tables, target Lambda (AFR), exhaust temperature, knock sensors, and more. It has the ability to correct short term fuel trim and ignition timing errors so even as the boost increases through the whole RPM range the engine mapping remains where it should. Not only does it make a lot of peak power, but it's also a smooth and consistent power gain over the entire RPM band. The Dinan tuner module is the most sophisticated on the market and is the only one that is 50-state legal.

    This kit fits cars with a mechanical wastegate, which was replaced with an electronic one  around production date 6/2013. If your car was produced in June 2013 you should check which one your car has prior to ordering. Installation is plug and play but requires access to the entire engine compartment. The engine computer(s) is part of the intake manifold so access is tight. The Dinan module is installed under the radiator support and the harness has to be run to each computer. Detailed instructions are included but professional installation is strongly advised if you're not used to working around your engine.

    There's no secret to getting additional power from a turbo engine - turn up the boost! But it's easy to take things too far and become "boost drunk". If what you're after is a generous bump in power without worrying about reliability, compromises, or additional modifications the aFe Power Scorcher is perfect for you. We've tried the Scorcher in a number of different BMWs and can report back that it works flawlessly! 

    The Scorcher is a plug-and-play tuning module that installs on the engine wiring harness and modifies the signals from the manifold pressure sensors. The new signals are then sent to the engine computer which increases boost based on the modified signal. The power gains are instantly noticeable and the module has been fully engineered to deliver a smooth and reliable power boost over all RPM. aFe developed this module upgrade on their in-house Mustang and Dynojet dynos. There are other products that give more power (for additional cost and complexity) but more boost also brings more complications. This is all of the power you need without additional drama and trickery. The Scorcher can be used on its own or combined with other aFe Power products for the total package. 

    The install is very easy with no cutting or modification to existing components. Unplug the harness from your MAP sensors and plug it into the Scorcher module. Then plug the Scorcher harness into the MAP sensors. Mount the module wherever you wish (Velcro and zip ties included). A blue LED lets you know the module is plugged in correctly and functioning. You can also revert back to stock just as easily! The Scorcher is built with a 0.1% tolerance on critical components. Each connector is an OE type for the best and most secure fitment and they use high quality wiring with excellent heat and chemical resistance. The module box is aluminum with a hardcoat anodize finish. This is way beyond the other 'resistor in a box' products on the market. aFe warranties the complete unit for two years.

    Often lauded as one of the best BMWs of the last 20 years, the E39 540i is a solid performer. With careful massaging, we have succeeded in fine tuning calibrations within the factory ECU, resulting in improved performance across the power band - with significant power gains starting at 4,000rpm and continuing straight through the new 6,300rpm redline. We tune many areas of the engine programming -

    Our software is installed via the Turner flashing OBD tool. This tool plugs into the OBD socket in the dash and the performance software is installed from a laptop computer connected to the tool. It also works as a fault code scanner to read and reset diagnostic trouble codes and reset adaptations. The software program requires a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 laptop and the installation and setup are very easy (click here for instructions). The OBD tool, cable, and installation files are shipped to you with simple setup instructions. Files are exchanged with our calibrators via email, resulting in no downtime for your vehicle. There is no need to remove your ECU and ship it. You can have your 540i flashed from the convenience of your garage or driveway!
