AST Suspension 5200 Series Coil Over Kit - E36 Non-M Convertible

Looking for a rugged, race-proven coil over kit that screams quality? Then look no further than AST Suspension's 5000 series coil over kits. 

For starters, all 3 of their 5000 series coilovers (the 5001, 5002, and 5003 series) utilize a race proven inverted shock absorber design which produces an extremely strong damper that provides better suspension geometry under heavy lateral and braking loads as scene in road and track conditions.

Second, is the use of a monotube internal design. The separation of the oil and nitrogen gas by a floating piston allows for the use of a larger shock piston, increasing the damper performance and sensitivity. This adds more grip at the wheels which means more control and feedback from your vehicle.

Third is Adjustment. The 5200 series offers 2-way adjustability with compression and rebound adjustment. Both of these are easily adjusted with knobs located on top of the shock and on top of an expansion reservoir. This allows for quick and easy set up whether you are dialing in your suspension on a permanent racing vehicle or plan to track it then head back out on the road afterward. Thanks to the greater level of control, these can be used for dedicated racing needs and have been a favorite for many race team, receiving praise for its exceptionally high quality and performance capabilities compared to other racing coil over kits at a similar price point.

The external remote-reservoir, included in all 5200 series and 5300 series coil over kits, helps in a few key ways as well. The main benefit is heat reduction. With the expanded oil capacity, the oil is less likely to build up heat-soak that will decrease the effectiveness of the oil to help reduce suspension travel. The body of the shock is also enable to use an even stronger monotube design and separate the oil and the nitrogen gas with a floating piston. The floating piston eliminates potential  oil foaming, where the oil foams up when mixed with the nitrogen, which causes increase shock fade. Finally, shock travel is increased significantly now that the gases and additional oil are stored in a separate location.
