By replacing the factory housing with an aluminum assembly, you'll prevent:
-Engine failure

-Cracks/leaks in oil filter housing
-Mixture of engine oil and coolant

While it would be simpler to just replace the housing, it is necessary to replace the entire assembly using the contents of this kit.
