Engine mounts secure the engine to the chassis. Mounts limit engine movement while their bushings damp vibration that would otherwise enter the cabin.
Worn mounts are an annoyance, and lead to additional repairs. They cause noise, make shifting more difficult, and stress other driveline components, shortening their service life. Transmission and engine mounts work together, and should be inspected for wear or damage at each oil change.
