Uncompromised Brake Performance: What You Need To Know About Turner Motorsport TrackSport Rotors

With the last few articles primarily focused on street cars, we thought we’d take it back to the track this week for some variety. Racing, from grassroots track days to the highest levels of competition, is what we do at Turner Motorsport. With the added benefit of in-house research and development, we’re in a unique position to both identify needs during our track sessions and then deliver products that satisfy those needs through our engineering team. This critical combination is what has allowed us to deliver tons of performance upgrades that have helped many, including ourselves, make progress on the track. More recently, our experience has led to the release of our new TrackSport Brake Rotors, which is what we want to write about today. Settle in for this edition of Turner Motorsport Weekly where we’ll take you through everything you need to know about our growing catalog of TrackSport Rotors and why they might just be exactly what you need to take that next step with your track-driven BMW.
Uncompromised Brake Performance: What You Need To Know About Turner Motorsport TrackSport Rotors
One of the most crucial functions of a race car is consistent braking. Your brakes take an insane amount of abuse on the track to keep your BMW on the throttle as long as possible, correct your driving line, and drive defensively. A car that can’t brake effectively loses speed, which is why they’re so important not just for stopping, but for maintaining speed for consistent lap times. As they build heat and take punishment, brake performance suffers, especially if they’re not designed for that level of continued use. That means you’ll notice brake fade, possibly run into failures, and will wear through rotors that aren’t designed for competition incredibly quickly while your lap times suffer.
There are plenty of brake upgrade kits available that have been go-to solutions for drivers, including us, for decades. Brembo, StopTech, Hawk, and other quality brands have helped deliver braking system components that stand up to track conditions admirably. However, many of these upgrades require one sacrifice or another. Generally, you’re completely upgrading your entire brake system with bigger calipers, caliper bracket adapters, larger rotors, stainless lines, and track-rated brake fluid. That, or you choose to upgrade to more aggressive pads and rotors that replace your stock components with something a bit more performance-oriented, but still not designed for extended track use.

These two-piece, fully-floating, lightweight, slotted rotors aren’t like your typical ‘street performance’ upgrade. They’re designed for performance on the track with no sacrifice. While you could run these rotors on your daily driver, where they’ll shine is under track conditions for extended periods.
Due to the two-piece design, these heat-treated rotors can expand as they build heat without the risk of cracking, warping, or fading like traditional single-piece rotors. The slotted grooves functionally remove brake dust and gasses for improved consistency lap after lap while the directional internal vanes help increase cooling abilities and braking performance. Finally, the inherent design of a two-piece floating rotor offers a reduction in unsprung rotational mass by 20% at each wheel over the factory versions, so these rotors offer the added benefit of improved performance even when you aren’t hard on the middle pedal.
Uncompromised Brake Performance: What You Need To Know About Turner Motorsport TrackSport Rotors
If you’re looking for a braking solution that can hold up to session after session at the track without fading, the Turner Motorsport TrackSport rotors are designed specifically for you. For a fraction of the cost that a full big brake upgrade requires, you can expect similar performance from these rotors and a set of dedicated racing compound brake pads and fluid. These rotors are designed with the track driving enthusiast in mind to offer that braking consistency you need to gain as much seat time as possible without worrying that your brakes can’t handle the continued use.
With our catalog growing, we’ll be able to provide uncompromising brake performance to track enthusiasts behind the wheel of all the most popular performance BMW models. No big modifications, just a simple rotor change with track duties built into the design. TrackSport rotors should be your new go-to as you improve your race craft, especially if you’re already noticing the diminished performance of your factory (or even upgraded) BMW brakes. Currently, we offer TrackSport rotor options for several popular BMWs, but more are on the way. Keep an eye out for these rotors so you can enjoy the braking performance you need on the track without sacrifice.
