New Turner Adjustable Short Throw Shifters

Oftentimes, the first thing you will notice about your manual BMW is that the stock shifter throws are miles and miles long. We developed our short shifter kit as a solve for this common complaint about manual transmission BMWs. Our new short shifter kits are the culmination of years of research and development - we went back to the drawing board several times throughout the design process, in efforts to release a product that really stood out from the rest of the short shifters on the BMW market. We set out to design the perfect shift kit for your BMW. Now we realize perfect is a subjective term, so we gave our short shifter a wide range of height and throw adjustability. This wide range of adjustability allows you to easily make adjustments from the cabin of your BMW by just removing your shifter boot and using small hex head keys.

We made our short shifter for all of you. The weekend warriors, the trackday monsters, and even the daily drivers. We wanted to make something that made sense for any BMW enthusiast. For those who want to drive your car to the track, drive some hotlaps, and then drive back home, we developed a rally lever extension. Our rally lever extension allows you to keep your hands close to the steering wheel through shifts, in efforts to quicken shifts and reaction times on the track. The rally lever comes off and on in seconds with the unique locking design we engineered. After your track day win, you can easily swap back to the short lever for more comfortable daily driving.

Installation of this kit is one of the easiest to take on compared to the competition - our custom bearing cup allows for easy installation from inside of the car (on applications that use the stock shifter arm).

Easy installation and swap out​

• Throw adjustment can be done in the car without removing the shifter
  • Throw adjustment is accomplished by loosening set screw in shifter ball and rotating the ball within the cap using a couple of simple tools. 

Design Features

• Lower Shifter Assembly
  • CNC machined from 4140 chromoly steel and melonite coated for superior strength and exceptional durability and corrosion resistance.
  • Shifter ball CNC machined from 304 stainless steel, finely polished for smooth operation and bushing wear resistance.
  • Ball socket shifter bushings are precision machined from Nylatron® NSM.
    • self-lubricating and offers better wear resistance and impact resistance than other “premium” bearing grade plastics.  
    • Provides a positive shifter feel that never fades because of worn out bearings or bushings.
    • Precision tolerance fitment in the bearing cup eliminates unwanted ball socket movement.
  • Lower selector rod bushings precision machined from Nylatron® NSM
    • Precision fit tolerance on the selector rod to eliminate shifter linkage play.
    • Provides the ultimate in low friction, self-lubrication, wear resistance and impact resistance compared to other “premium” bearing grade plastics.
  • Lower shift arm has an adjustment range of 10mm to dial in the throw and feel of your shifter.
    • Lower shift lever is locked in place by tightening provided set screw in the stainless steel ball.

• Rally Upper Shift Lever
  • Compatible with stock shift boot fits nicely into the machined groove at the bottom of the lever to maintain a clean look in the interior.
  • Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and type II anodized for exceptional durability and corrosion resistance.
    • Available in either black or clear anodize to match your vehicle’s interior.
  • Rally shift knob is machined from black delrin.
    • Unlike aluminum, delrin will not hold heat so on those hot days you won’t have to worry about burning your hand on a knob that’s been baking in the sun.  
    • Shift knob is threaded onto the end of the shift lever utilizing a standard ⅜-16 thread to allow for easy removal and attachment of your favorite beer tap or other accessory.

• Standard Shift Lever
  • Compatible with OE BMW shift knobs or aftermarket shift knobs.
  • CNC machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum and type II black anodized for exceptional durability and corrosion resistance.
  • “Quick Change” height adjustable upper shift lever design allows for quick swapping between optional “OE” style and “Rally Style” upper shift levers.
    • 22mm adjustment range to fine tune shifter throw and feel.

• Shifter Bearing Cup Assembly
  • CNC machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum and type II blue anodized for exceptional durability and corrosion resistance.
  • Shifter cup encapsulates shifter components allowing for easy installation from inside of the car.
    • Bushings, lower shifter assembly, spring, retaining washer and snap ring can be easily installed inside the cup before installing in vehicle.
    • Cup installs into OE shifter arm with supplied clamp and socket head cap screws.
      • Installation can be done from inside the car without having to remove the OE shifter arm to install screws from the side.
  • Shifter bushings and cup are machined to tight tolerances to eliminate slop or play in the shifter assembly for a positive shifter feel.
