TURNER MOTORSPORT BMW RETURNS TO MID-OHIO WITH AUBERLEN AND FOLEY

Amesbury, MA. -- May 1st, 2019 -- With the extended break following Sebring coming to an end, Turner Motorsport prepares for the third round of both the 2019 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as well as the Michelin Pilot Challenge.

Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley will be tasked with a double-duty weekend set to compete in both the BMW M4 GT4 in the Michelin Pilot Challenge GS class as well as the M6 GT3 in the WeatherTech Championship GTD class.

The blue and yellow Turner BMWs return to the 2.4-mile, 15-mile road course in Lexington, Ohio with two entries for the first time since 2013. Auberlen walked away with a win in the Rolex GT class BMW M3 as well as a second-place finish in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge GS class.

Auberlen has also captured wins at Mid-Ohio in 2010 and 2012 behind the wheel of the Turner Motorsport BMW making him the most winning driver of all time at this track.

Last year, Bill Auberlen and Dillon Machavern captured a sixth-place finish after running inside the top five with a strong BMW M6 GT3 for much of the caution-less race.

“Mid-Ohio has been a very good track for me, Turner and BMW over the years.” Commented Bill Auberlen. “I have won a bunch of races here and that really comes down to great teams and great cars. BMW has been consistent in giving me great handling and powerful cars which perform flawlessly on a very technical track.”

“I am looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of Turner BMWs this weekend to unleash the twin turbo M-Power and keep the winning tradition alive.”

The weekend will Mark Robby Foley’s first appearance at Mid-Ohio in a Turner BMW and his first time back since his podium finish in the 2013 Mazda MX5 Cup.

“I’m excited to get back to Mid-Ohio after a bit of a hiatus.” Said Robby Foley. “Luckily Bill and I will be pulling double duty so there will be no shortage of track time to get back up to speed, plus I have one of the best to help master this super technical track.”

“So far this year, we have had solid performance with our BMWs, but some unforeseen issues have prevented us from bringing home strong results. Both Bill and Turner Motorsport have had a lot of success here in the past so we will definitely be leaning on that experience this weekend.”

On track action is set to begin on Friday, May 3rd with practice for both the GT and GS classes. The Michelin Pilot Challenge qualifying will begin at 10:05am on Saturday with the WeatherTech Championship qualifying for GTD following at 12:05 PM ET.

The Mid-Ohio 120 Michelin Pilot Challenge race is scheduled for Saturday at 1:45pm ET. Tune into IMSA.com for the LIVE broadcast from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

The Acura Sports Car Challenge will take the green flag at 1:40 PM ET on Sunday, May 6th and will be televised LIVE on NBC Sports Network.
