TURNER BMW LOOKING TO CARRY PODIUM MOMENTUM NORTH OF THE BORDER.
Amesbury, MA. -- July 5th, 2019 -- Following the well-deserved second place finish at Watkins Glen International the Turner Motorsport team is set for back-to-back racing action this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Drivers Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley will make the trek across the border to get behind the wheel of the LMC Industrial Contractors BMW M6 GT3 to mark the sixth round of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The Turner Motorsport BMWs have experience consistently strong results at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in recent years with a dominant win in 2016 to mark the first North American win for the BMW M6 GT3. In 2017, the team finished fourth less than one second from third place on the 2.459-mile 10-turn road course.
Last year, Auberlen and Foley topped the GTD charts in practice to qualify just three tenths outside of the top three.
“It’s good to be back to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with some momentum,” said Robby Foley. “We had a solid race last weekend and we look forward to doing the same this weekend. The similarities between Watkins Glen and here should play into our favor this weekend, the BMW likes the higher speed sustained corners.”
The Turner all-American lineup will begin on track action today with two GTD practice sessions followed by qualifying on Saturday.
Bill Auberlen added, “We were able to pull off a solid finish last weekend for my 419th career race with BMW so I am hoping we can do one better for number 420 this weekend. The team is looking forward to getting back to work this weekend with the excitement from last weekend’s finish so we are eager to get out there and see where we stand.”
GTD qualifying will take the green flag on Saturday, July 6th at 12:35pm ET and will be broadcast LIVE on IMSA.com. The race will be LIVE on NBC Network at 1:00pm ET. Tune in to catch all the racing action as well as on Turner Motorsport social media.
