TACO TUESDAY RACE RECAP WITH TURNER MOTORSPORT

Amesbury, MA. -- August 4th, 2020-- Turner BMWs find success despite facing heavy adversity at Road America this past weekend. IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge – GS Class

Going into the race weekend, the entire BMW M4 GT4 field (4) including the No. 95 and No. 96 Turner Motorsport machines were hit with a power reduction by IMSA handicapping the BMW field from competing for a spot up front in the GS Class.

With well executed pit stops and strategy, the No. 95 Turner BMW Motorsport piloted by Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley was able to finish P5 against fierce competition, the best finish for a BMW entry in the race.

IMSA SportsCar Weekend – GTD Class

Following a significant incident in practice 2 (punctured brake line), Robby Foley recorded a competitive lap time to qualify the Turner Motorsport BMW M6 4th in the GTD field.

Extra tacos were earned by the crew who worked hard to make necessary repairs to the car in order to get it on the grid for Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session.

With IMSA’s current balance of performance regulations (which ironically are still unbalanced) the Lexus’ were, continued to be significantly quicker than the rest of the GTD field.

Despite sustaining a significant impact on Saturday, Foley was able to get a solid start in Sunday’s feature race to hold third position before handing the BMW M6 GT3 over to Bill Auberlen.

Auberlen made an aggressive pass on the second place Lexus to capture the second spot until pitting one lap before unexpected torrential rains moved in, soaking the track and forcing the race to red flag.

Auberlen switched to rains following the red flag, dropping from second place to seventh, where the #96 car would ultimately finish the race.

Turner will be back in action in less than three weeks at VIRginia International Raceway August 21-23rd.

Thanks again to our sponsors for the support and helping keep tacos on the table.
