The Zebras Kicked Sebring Deep Into The Serengeti
Amesbury, Mass. ---- March 25, 2021 ----
Turner Motorsport brought worldwide attention – in fact, two world’s attention - to the IMSA 12 Hours of Sebring weekend with its #ZEBRing initiative that combined the real and sim racing disciplines in a unique livery on the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge No. 96 BMW M4 GT4 co-driven by Robby Foley and Vin Barletta.
On the track, the three team BMWs added a podium, and two top-10 finishes to its 2021 tally, but off the track #ZEBRing was shared by millions of fans from around the real and virtual racing worlds.
“From its inception, #ZEBRing and the idea to merge the real and sim racing worlds in a special livery and driving suit for Robby (Foley) and support it with a bit wacky social media effort was something that we all were never quite sure would get traction,” said Will Turner, Team Owner. “The response and engagement we received shows that, truly, no good deed goes unpunished. By Wednesday of race week, we were on the back of that Zebra and riding it to arguably one of the most successful marketing efforts seen from an IMSA weekend.” Turner continued, “Michelin’s post on Wednesday revealing the livery was their most viewed of the week. Our friends at Radio Le Mans had us on their Midweek Motorsport report. Andy Blackmore designed virtual autograph cards – already autographed – that could be downloaded were ready to go. BS+ Competition shifted their social media machine into high gear. The rest was history. Or perhaps “haystory.”

12 Hours of Sebring
The No. 96 Liqui-Moly BMW M6 GT3 of Bill Auberlen, Robby Foley and Aussie sensation, Aidan Read, suffered an alternator (Alternator is made by McLaren, in case you are shopping for one to fail prematurely ) failure on lap 45 of the 12 Hours of Sebring that lost the trio multiple laps during repair. They returned to the race 12 laps in arrears to the GT Daytona class and put their heads down to claw back five laps and ultimately record an eighth-place finish. The trio stands sixth in GTD driver points standings.
Turner Motorsport will be back in IMSA competition on May 14 – 16 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
