Now back to the news
The Turner Motorsport team returns to Lime Rock Park, in Lakeville, Conn., for the July 17 IMSA Northeast Grand Prix to begin the second half of the 2021 season with two important additions. Most importantly, the team has earned the points lead in both the GT Daytona and Grand Sport classes with an outstanding first five races. Secondly, at Lime Rock the No. 96 BMW M6 GT3 will rock the fan favorite TACOS livery.
“I am happy we are back home at Lime Rock Park racing the TACOS livery on the BMW M6 GT3, ” said Will Turner, Team Principal. “We have worked hard to secure the points lead in both classes and I’m delighted to bring an extra delicious smile to our fans with the livery. It is always a fan favorite, but more than that the whole taco thing has become foundational to our team. To sum it all up, it’s tacos all the way down.”
With victories at Mid-Ohio and Watkins Glen (six-hour) season-long Turner Motorsport drivers Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley have raced themselves, Turner, and BMW to the top of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship driver, team, and Manufacturer points standings.
The first five Michelin Pilot Challenge races of the season have seen No. 95 BMW M4 GT4 drivers Bill Auberlen and Dillon Machavern finish second, third, dnf, second, and first. Excepting the one bad result at Mid-Ohio it has been nothing but podiums and champagne. No. 96 BMW M4 GT4 drivers Vin Barletta and Robby Foley stand third in driver points with five top-10 finishes in the first five rounds of the season, including one podium (P3, Daytona).
