Road America on tap for Turner motorsport
Newton, NH. – Aug. 3, 2021 ---
The IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America, in Elkhart Lake, Wis., is on tap for Turner Motorsport beginning this Friday. Both the Michelin Pilot Challenge and GT Daytona Turner BMWs will be in action on the 4-mile, 14-turn natural terrain road course that always makes for a good show.
Following the first seven rounds of the 2021 season Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley stand second in GT Daytona driver points. The duo has scored wins at Mid-Ohio and Watkins Glen (six-hour) in the No. 96 BMW M6 GT3. In Michelin Pilot Challenge competition, the news is even better. Auberlen and Dillon Machavern lead GS class driver points in the No. 95 BMW M4 GT4. Co-drivers Vin Barletta and Robby Foley stand third in the No. 96 BMW M4 GT4.
“The 2021 season has been a strong one for us, but there is still a long way to go,” said Will Turner, Team Principal. ” Road America is always a favorite and has set the stage for some of our best performances over the years.”
Historically, the Turner Motorsport BMW has always been in the fight at Road America and has reached the top of the podium twice, in 2014 and 2017. Most recently, Auberlen and Foley finished third in 2019 and last season were running second until torrential rain made a mess of the end of the race resulting in a seventh-place finish for the No. 96 BMW. Auberlen has three GT class wins at Road America; 2009, 2012, and 2013 as part of his all-time IMSA leading 64 victories.
