Turner motorsport is money at Road America

Newton, NH. – Aug. 8, 2021 ---

Turner Motorsport came away from a very good weekend at Road America with a WIN and a fourth-place finish in Saturday’s Michelin Pilot Challenge race, and a second-place finish in the GT Daytona class in Sunday’s WeatherTech SportsCar contest.

Both races saw veteran Bill Auberlen saving fuel in the closing laps to reach the checkered flag, on Saturday as rain poured down on the No. 95 BMW M4 GT4, and Sunday – no rain, but needing a light right foot to finish only 11.876 seconds from the top step of the podium in the No. 96 BMW M6 GT3.

With their third podium finish of the season, including wins at Mid-Ohio and Watkins Glen, Auberlen and co-driver Robby Foley are back in the lead in the GT Daytona class driver points.

On Saturday, Bill Auberlen earned the 18th IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge victory of his storied career on Saturday co-driving the No. 95 BMW M4 GT4 with Dillon Machavern. The duo’s second win of the 2021 season was a tour de force with Machavern starting from the class pole position and leading for the greater percentage of his time in the car. Auberlen faced two obstacles. It began to rain – hard – like Africa-hard. Secondly, he had to save fuel to make the checkered flag. He did both and made it look easy. Auberlen and Machavern continue to lead the Grand Sport driver points standings. Teammates Vin Barletta and Robby Foley finished a fine fourth in the No. 96 BMW M4 GT4 to move to second place in driver points and solidify Turner’s hold on the championship.

Will Turner – “Turner Motorsport continues to race hard and be successful in 2021. There are only four races left this season and we are at the top of the points standings in both classes we race our BMWs in Road America never disappoints. I wonder what a bratwurst taco would taste like?”

Next up is WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on Sept. 10 – 12.
