Turner Motorsport Sports a New BMW M4 GT3 Look And New Headquarters For 2022
Dec. 23, 2021 – Newton, NH ---
Will Turner is a very excited racing team owner.
“Turner Motorsport continues to expand our BMW racing efforts and provide our sponsors with excellent value as we welcome the BMW M4 GT3 to the Turner family,” said Will. “We recently opened an all-new, headquarters in Newton, New Hampshire that will support greater growth. We’ve taken delivery of the new BMW M4 GT3 and will continue our BMW M4 GT4 program. Whilst our driver lineup is important, it must be said that our crew members cannot be overlooked. They are the unsung heroes. We are all incredibly excited for 2022 and beyond.”
After six seasons racing the BMW M6 GT3 in two championships to 26 podium finishes, including 11 victories, Turner Motorsport fans have a new face to love. Already completing a two-day test at the Daytona International Speedway, the BMW M4 GT3 will open the 2022 IMSA season in the GTD class at the Rolex 24 At Daytona with drivers Bill Auberlen, Robby Foley, Michael Dinan and Jens Klingmann.
“The 2022 GT Daytona class rules allow us to compete against all teams on equal footing,” stated Turner. “Everything will be (hopefully) balanced with Gold and Silver drivers racing head-to-head with the Platinum drivers. The pairing of Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley is as good as anyone, so our expectations are pretty high. Michael (Dinan) has progressed very nicely over the past season driving with Robby and I am expecting on good things from him supporting our IMSA endurance effort. Jens has raced the BMW M6 with us in past seasons, co-driving to our first M6 win at Road America in 2017. Additionally, in his role as a BMW Motorsport driver, Jens has spent a great deal of time during the development of the M4 GT3. There is a great deal of synergy in our lineup.”
Michael Dinan
The 2022 season will see Michael Dinan make his first start at the Rolex 24 and continue as Turner’s third driver in the Michelin Endurance Cup races at Sebring, Watkins Glen and Road Atlanta. In addition, Dinan and Foley will co-drive a second Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 in SRO GT World Challenge Championship.
Jay O’Connell
Turner’s IMSA pit stand will see Jay O’Connell join the team as race engineer beginning at the Rolex 24. Already a part of Turner’s SRO program in 2021, O’Connell will add his many talents to the IMSA side of the operation this year. “The combination of Don Salama, our strategist, and Jay is sure to generate some excitement and keep all our competitors on their toes.” added Turner.
LIQUI MOLY
While the BMW will be a different one this season, its livery will be a very familiar one to Turner fans as LIQUI-MOLY returns as primary sponsor for the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
Michelin Pilot Challenge
Challenging for the title for the entire 10-race 2021 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season, No. 95 BMW M4 GT4 drivers Bill Auberlen and Dillon Machavern ultimately finished second in the driver points standings. Turner teammates Vin Barletta and Robby Foley, racing the No. 96 BMW M4 GT4, finished fourth. “Everything remains the same with our IMPC program, but this year we’ll win the championship.,” said Turner.
The Roar Before the 24 test will take place Jan. 21 – 24 with practice for the Rolex 24 At Daytona and BMW M Endurance Challenge weekend beginning Jan. 27
