Turner Motorsport Looks To Continue Strong GT4 Start and Restart GT3 Program at Sebring

Sebring International Raceway and the Twelve Hours of Sebring weekend has always set a welcoming stage for Turner Motorsport. Much like the team itself, the track is a little rough around the edges BUT never fails to put a smile on your face. “Sebring and the 12 Hour fits our team very nicely,” said Will Turner. “Racing is a very serious business and on track it always is. Off the track however, it’s a party ! We certainly have work to do, but Sebring always reminds us not to forget the fun.”
Bill Auberlen and Dillon Machavern finished a strong third at Daytona in the Michelin Pilot Challenge season-opening race to begin Turner Motorsport’s 2022 season with a podium. The No. 96 BMW, driven by Vin Barletta, Michael Dinan, and Robby Foley, finished fifth.
Will Turner - “Our Michelin Pilot Challenge program remains strong. Bill and Dillon finished second in the 2021 championship and their podium at Daytona means they are right on track this year. Vin, Michael, and Robby finished a strong fifth so all is good on the GT4 side of things.”
Turner Motorsport is looking to the March 19th Twelve Hours of Sebring to restart its GT Daytona program following a disappointing debut for the new BMW LIQUI-MOLY M4 GT3 at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January. With only 280 laps completed, the team’s race ended long before the checkered flag waved on Sunday afternoon.
“We raced the BMW M6 GT3 for six seasons,” continued Turner.” Over that time, we finished on the GTD podium 26 times, including 11 victories. We believe in the new M4 GT3, but new racing cars are always a challenge. Daytona is never an easy one. The M4 GT3 debut was disappointing, but not unexpected. Bill, Michael, and Robby will be back behind the wheel for the 12 Hour.”
Looking toward Sebring, Turner can rely on a strong Michelin Pilot Challenge history (2021-P3, 2020-P1) and a recent GTD test to continue Sebring success. The team tested the M4 GT3 two weeks ago with Robby and Michael getting time behind the wheel. Auberlen did not participate in the test but is excited for his 499th and 500th race for BMW Sebring weekend.
“On the GT3 side, we have learned a few things about our new cars since Daytona...our pace is all going to come down to what IMSA does with the Balance of Performance (BOP) This Wednesday's announcement of BoP adjustments (a little more boost for us and 25kg weight) to the BMW M4 GT3 is welcomed and appreciated but I don't think it will be enough to keep up with the pack", Said Robby Foley
On-track action at Sebring International Raceway runs from March 16-19. The two-hour Michelin Pilot Challenge race takes the green flag at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, the 17th. The Twelve Hours of Sebring race begins at 10:10 a.m. ET Saturday, March 19. Peacock’s live streaming coverage starts at 10 a.m., with USA picking up the NBC Sports telecast at 3:30 p.m. through the end of the race. IMSA Radio also provides a flag-to-flag broadcast.
