Turner Motorsport Update: So Far, It’s Been Close, But No Cigar.

April 21, 2022 – Newton, NH

Turner Motorsport finished fourth at the April 9th IMSA race at Long Beach and fourth in both of last weekend’s Rounds 1 and 2 of the GT World Challenge Championship at Sonoma Raceway. Sense a pattern? So do we. With the next race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on May 1 that means four consecutive races in California! Oh, you were thinking that including the fourth-place finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March Turner has four fourth-place finishes in-a-row. We were thinking it’s about time our first podium with the No. 96 LIQUI-MOLY BMW M4 GT3 and that California and Laguna Seca is a good place to start.

A Quick Review

Long Beach - The No. 96 Turner Motorsport LIQUI-MOLY BMW M4 GT3, driven by Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley, finished fourth at the April 9th IMSA Long Beach Grand Prix race. A strong performance at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March from an outside front row starting spot and a fourth place finish was hoped to be the momentum needed to get the season really rolling at the season’s first sprint race at Long Beach, but a number of issues meant fourth was actually a pretty good day.

Sonoma Raceway - Michael Dinan and Robby Foley opened their 2022 GT World Challenge Championship at Sonoma Raceway last weekend with two fourth-place finishes in Rounds 1 and 2.

IMSA Radio also provides a flag-to-flag broadcast. On Saturday, the Turner Motorsport co-drivers Auberlen and Dillon Machavern as well as Vin Barletta and Robby Foley will wheel the Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 machines in Round 3 Michelin Pilot Challenge action. Auberlen and Machavern currently stand third in GS points standings.

Will Turner – “Fourth is one step away from our first podium finish of the 2022 season ! The BMW M4 GT3 is proving to be a solid platform.... I mean it has been close, but no cigar so far this season.”
