The April 15th Acura Long Beach Grand Prix, the first Sprint Cup race of the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, will see Turner Motorsport enter both of the team’s BMW M4 GT3 racing cars in the GTD class. The team will return to running one of its 2 cars in the GTD PRO class at the Endurance Cup races at Watkins Glen International and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
Last season’s Long Beach race saw Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley finish fourth in the No. 96 LIQUI-MOLY BMW M4 GT3. This year, the No. 96 LIQUI-MOLY machine will be shared by Foley and Patrick Gallagher. The No. 97 (Formerly No. 95 in the Pro Class) McIntosh BMW M4 GT3 will be co-driven by Auberlen and Chandler Hull.
March’s Sebring 12-hour saw the No. 95 LIQUI-MOLY BMW M4 GT3, of Michael Dinan, Robby Foley, and Patrick Gallagher finish second in the GTD class, benefiting from the smart strategy calls from Don Salama during multiple caution periods in the final hours of the race to maximize track position. Unfortunately, the No. 95 McIntosh BMW M4 GT3 of Bill Auberlen, John Edwards, and Chandler Hull did not enjoy a podium result, running strongly but ultimately scoring a seventh-place GTD PRO class finish.
