The Petit Le Mans weekend is a big one for Turner Motorsport. The team will be competing in three IMSA series and racing for two championships; titles in the Michelin Pilot Challenge and the VP Racing Challenge.

Will Turner said, “Our Petit Le Mans weekend starts early with the first VP Racing Challenge race Thursday afternoon. Francis has the GSX class points lead and his eye on the title. Vin is back in third. It will be settled Friday morning in race two. Hopefully that will be our first championship of the weekend. Friday afternoon Vin and Robby take a 60 point lead into the Michelin Pilot Challenge race. Fingers-crossed, after two hours, we’ll have the Grand Sport class championship and our second title. Saturday’s 10-hour Petit Le Mans will close the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Robby and Patrick will be joined by Michael Dinan in the LIQUI-MOLY BMW. They finished second at Sebring this season so they know how to get to the podium. Thomas Merrill joins Bill and Chandler in the McIntosh BMW. Thomas is new to Turner, but not the M4 GT3. He won the 2023 Asian Le Mans GT championship alongside Chandler.”

VP Racing Challenge – BMW M4 GT4

Francis Selldorff and Vin Barletta stand first and third respectively in the GSX class after 10 of the 12 rounds in the 2023 VP Racing Challenge championship. The final two rounds during the Petit Le Mans weekend see Selldorff enter with a 230 point lead over second place. Barletta, in third, is 520 points behind his Turner teammate. With 350 points to a race winner it’s still all to play for.

Race 1 will take the green flag at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12. Race 2 goes green at 9:25 a.m. Friday morning. Both races will be streamed live on Peacock.

Michelin Pilot Challenge – BMW M4 GT4

If everything goes according to plan Vin Barletta and Robby Foley will be racing the No. 96 BMW M4 GT4 to IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Grand Sport (GS) title Friday afternoon. They enjoy a 60 point points lead after a second-place finish at VIR and a fifth-place finish at Indy. One more great race and the championship is theirs. The No. 95 BMW M4 GT4, of Cameron Lawrence and Robert Megennis, finished 11th at VIR and seventh at Indy. They stand ninth in GS points. They have the speed and with a little luck could feature strongly in the season-ender.

The two-hour Fox Factory 120 takes the green flag at 12:25 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13th and will be streamed live on Peacock.

WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – BMW M4 GT3

Two rounds ago the No. 96 LIQUI-MOLY BMW M4 GT3, of Robby Foley and Patrick Gallagher, had a strong race at VIRginia International Raceway to finish second and solidify their spot in the championship top-five. A fifth-place finish at Indianapolis four weeks ago realized the best two-race finish of the season meaning good momentum heading to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. At Petit, Foley and Gallagher will be joined by Michael Dinan and the trio will have their eyes on a great season’s end, after all at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March they did finish second. Bill Auberlen, Chandler Hull, and the No. 97 McIntosh BMW M4 GT3 finished just off the podium in fourth at VIR. The Indy race saw the duo finish P7. They will finish their season with Thomas Merrill at Petit Le Mans. Merrill and Hull know each other well from co-driving with Nicky Catsburg to the 2023 Asian Le Mans series GT championship.

Practice begins on Thursday, Oct. 12 followed by qualifying on Friday. The ten-hour MOTUL Petit Le Mans takes the green flag at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14th. The race will be streamed live on Peacock and broadcast on the USA network from 6:30 p.m. to the finish.
