These heavy-duty clutch kits use aluminum lightweight flywheels with sport clutch components to give your clutch the grip and clamping force it needs to cope with high torque upgrades. Our kits were developed through racing programs by companies affiliated with our own race team - JB Racing, Sachs Sport, OS Giken, and UUC Motorwerks. JB Racing is the leader in aluminum lightweight flywheel upgrades. They are direct replacements for the stock dual-mass flywheels with steel contact surfaces and computer balanced to 14,000 RPM. JB has partnered with Sachs to spec sport/HD clutch discs and pressure plates that work seamlessly with their aluminum flywheels. The result is a clutch/flywheel upgrade package that functions a lot like the original clutch combo with near-stock levels of effort and engangement but with a much higher torque capacity. This brass clutch pivot pin is an upgrade over the stock plastic pivot pin. The brass pin will last a lot longer than the plastic piece and may save you time and hassle later on. The original plastic pivot pin is known to fall out, snap, or just wear out over time. At the least you get a very annoying squeak every time you depress the clutch. In a worse case scenario, the clutch fork won't be able to push on the throw-out bearing and your clutch will be useless. The only time to replace the clutch pivot pin is when the transmission is removed, so this brass upgrade can be installed during clutch replacements or a rear main seal service.

Some modifications to your vehicle may not produce power to create gains in the overall performance of your driving. When you add a "Po' Boy" clutch stop to your BMW the performance gain is directly felt in the driving experience.

The ECS clutch stop allows the driver to fine tune the position of the clutch pedal to closely match the engagement point for precise, quicker shifting. The adjustment range found in this product can be set to the stock engagement point or can be adjusted to follow the wear of the clutch. Meaning your new experience will never change all the way to the end of the clutch life and can be reset to enjoy the next clutch.

Note: This modification might require some slight modification to the clutch switch mounting bracket, which can be bent slightly by hand.

Engineered in-house, we designed this lightweight, single-mass flywheel to provide more than 10 pounds of weight savings over the factory flywheel. While some ultra-lightweight performance flywheels are manufactured from aluminum, our designers opted for a more driveable experience with steel. The mass provided by steel helps dampen vibrations and noise, delivering near-factory refinement with most of the benefits of a lightweight flywheel: quicker throttle response, improved durability (and longevity), and more effective transfer of power to the wheels.

Modern flywheels are built with additional components that are designed to dampen and minimize vibrations from the engine and transmission. Weight has increased and reliability has decreased. With additional weight more energy is required for it to move. A lightweight flywheel does away with the dual mass design and its additional mass so more energy can be diverted to where it counts most - moving the car. The flywheel and clutch is one of the first areas that engine builders address when making the rotating assembly lighter for race engines. The dampening effect is just not needed on cars that are focused on performance. And with a single-mass flywheel the unreliable DMF design is eliminated.

When it comes to selecting a clutch to pair with a lightweight flywheel, consider the driving youaEURtmll be doing. As a single mass flywheel eliminates the dual-mass dampening of the factory flywheel, to retain the lowest noise, lowest harshness driving experience possible, select a clutch with a dampened disc. For dedicated track cars, a solid clutch hub is appropriate.

This kit uses the stock E36 M3 clutch with a JB Racing aluminum flywheel and M3 clutch slave cylinder for an outstanding improvement in the non-M E36. The stock M3 clutch is larger than the E36 325 disc and was used in the 321hp Euro M3 - way more clutch than you need on a 2.5 or 2.8-liter M50 and M52 (even supercharged cars). But because it's a factory clutch the feel, durability, engagement, fitment, etc are OE spec!

    If you own an E36 but have never done a clutch job, you're in for an unpleasant surprise! The stock flywheels don't usually last much longer than 100,000 miles. It's not just the friction surface that wears but the internal dual-mass damping parts fail over time too. Now is the time to replace a faulty dual mass flywheel before it completely fails and you have to do a clutch job all over again. The best plan is to have a new flywheel on hand when installing the clutch. You can use a new OEM M3 flywheel but we've had such great success with the aluminum flywheels that we think it's a superior product. This package is actually about the same price as buying a new OEM clutch and new OEM flywheel! And there's a big performance boost!

    What about noise? A single-mass aluminum flywheel is not going to dampen as well as the dual-mass or steel flywheels. But we used this setup for over 100,000 miles on a daily driver/track car and there was never any serious complaints. It was hardly an issue unless the car was sitting at a drive-thru, on a hot day, with the A/C on. And then the noise was a slight rattle and nothing major. We haven't received a single complaint from customers either.

      The Super Street Twin disc clutch gives you a worry-free twin-disc clutch upgrade for the E60 M5 and E63 M6. This flywheel and clutch kit features twin carbon fiber/organic discs with a steel flywheel rated at over 900 ft-lbs of torque. Even with increased capability this clutch drives and functions almost the same as a stock clutch but with a more solid feel and better engagement. Where the stock clutch can feel weak and soft the SPEC clutch feels stronger and more capable. The SPEC flywheel included in this kit is also a superior alternative to the pricey factory dual-mass flywheel, which are known to wear out. If clutch or flywheel woes are keeping you from getting the most from your V10 this is the clutch you should be using.

      The SPEC clutch upgrade for the M5/M6 gives you a true twin disc clutch setup in the SMG models. Twin disc clutches have been common in racing events for years. Our World Challenge Touring Cars were among the first to use two or three disc racing clutches in BMW applications. We found many advantages to a multi-disc setup over a single disc - greater torque capacity, less heat build-up, and longer clutch life thanks to more surface area, and less weight in the clutch discs. One of the goals from SPEC was to keep clutch operation and noise as close to stock levels as possible. They use a special blend of organic, carbon, Kevlar, and metallic materials for a strong and durable clutch that is also user friendly on the street. This kit is supplied with a billet steel flywheel that better minimizes vibrations and clutch chatter than aluminum. The SPEC flywheel is also preferred over the factory dual-mass part which can wear out over time and need replacement anyway. Clutch rebuild parts are also available to minimize consumable costs and keep your car ready to use.

      More aggressive clutch materials are available. The kit comes with a carbon fiber/Kevlar/organic material that is best-suited for street use and will offer the most user-friendly feel and engagement. For more performance capability you can opt for a carbon-graphite material but it will not be as user-friendly on the street. The carbon-graphite offers tremendous torque limits (1,125 ft-lbs) but the material will result in a more abrupt clutch engagement with less usable slippage.

      E9X M3 Flywheel Notes. BMW used a couple of different flywheel/clutch setups on the E90/E92 M3. In 2009 they switched to a new dual-mass flywheel design and all 2008 models must buy the new flywheel. The dual-mass flywheel remains a problem on all BMWs, especially for track-driven or supercharged cars where additonal torque and heat can weaken the rubber dampening material inside the flywheel. Often the flywheel requires replacement at the same time as the clutch. For the E9X M3 that can add another couple thousand to the cost. The SPEC flywheels remove the weak points in the clutch and flywheel assembly, and at a lower price point than the factory replacement parts!

This pressure plate offers more clamping power, and is recommended for cars making significantly more hp than stock (forced injection, etc) while using a stock flywheel.       Tuning your N54/N55 with all of the bolt-on upgrades? Don't allow your clutch or flywheel let you down! The stock clutch is fine for a stock car or just a simple software upgrade. But anything more and it quickly becomes the weak link (especially with drag races or hard launches). The 135i/335i/535i/Z4 35i SPEC Stage 2+ clutch kit is perfect for owners who want a performance clutch that works great with simple bolt-on modifications and will have a minimum of downsides or trade-offs. SPEC has spent considerable time and effort on the 335i models to produce a performance clutch and flywheel package that holds up to track and drag strip demands but is also easy to live with for daily driving. This clutch kit is meant to be used only with a SPEC flywheel.

      What was most important to them was offering a kit that has stock-like clutch pedal effort but will grab and hold when the car has been mildly tuned. Full bolt-on upgrades like software, intake, FMIC, E85 mix, or methanol demand a better clutch. The Stage 2+ with the flywheel has a peak torque rating of 545ft-lbs. With the SPEC single-mass flywheel the limitations of the stock flywheel are eliminated. The clutch in this Stage 2+ kit is self-adjusting, like the factory design, and the engagement point can be adjusted. The clutch disc has a sprung hub so it can be used with the single-mass flywheels with near-stock levels of noise, vibration, and refinement. See comments below for characteristics of each.

      Use this with the SPEC steel single-mass flywheel.
      The clutch will be stiffer than the factory design but it will grab harder and stay connected with far less chance of slippage. The engagement point is changed but most drivers adjust within the first 100 miles. The failure-prone dual-mass flywheel is eliminated and a steel single-mass is used instead. Expect more noise and vibration from the steel but better reliability and slightly better performance.
